I have an AR built of an OLY lower. I've had it 13 years. Upper fits lower fine. No slack, no play. On the other hand the mag well will not "drop" and empty mag. It's a couple thousandths of an inch too tight. Feeds fine, will drop a loaded mag fine. No matter what manufacture's mag it won't drop it empty. Take that for what it's worth. (If it was me, save a little more. CDNN has CMMG's AR's for $899.99 right now, A3 and flip sights, m4 barrels, yada, yada, yada...)

Car Stereo Gods: Need help selecting a new headunit for Hero-1

And in the process became my hero of mythical proportions! The coolness factor of that can not be measured by any instrument current made by man. -
yup... usually the same for me. Only seen it out once or twice.

HONK!!!! Freak'n HONK!!!! Gotta admit I like mine. But there are things to be aware of! In my USPc it has snap but feels great. I shot a 32 myself and was expecting all this recoil and it was nothing. Shot it as well as my USPc. (Which was disheartening to say the least.) I read somewhere that from shot to shot they have the least variance when tested than any other calibers tested. I think it was by speer or something. Not sure. People complain about the price of the ammo, me being one of them! But when you compare it is in the same price category as .45 acp per box and I don't see many people shying away from the .45 acp. Bought in bulk it's not that much more than .40 sw per thousand. Yup. Love the caliber. Welcome to the club! (But please be kind to the ladies... they won't be able to help themselves around you at the range. It's... just not... genetically possible. Bless their hearts! They'll just be drawn to you! LOL!!)

Hey David, if you get a chance get your wife to try it on. I'm curious if it is comfortable for her or if it is causes the grip to press into her side. I was just looking at their website and thought the "Ghost OWB" might work for my wife. We're still trying to figure out a good holster solution for her. (She has an M&Pc.)

From what I read of the plague type, it was too fast acting and killed quicker than it could spread. That would be a reason to lessen the strength... not the lethality of it. As far as "deal with your paranoia"... I am not saying this is man-made or anything like that. I'm just saying one of the main worries has been a terrorist getting their hands on or manufacturing a biologic agent and using it against the US. I am simply suggesting looking at the current situation, and asking "Would this not be a logical way to implement something like this?" I'm not saying "This is a terrorist attack, or the Swine Flu will kill us all!" Just that it is interesting to see how the US is reacting and how the media is reacting. Just thought it was interesting that it happen to break out in a country right after a Presidential visit to that country within weeks. If you wanted to release something targeted at the leadership of the US... that would be one of the most logical ways to do it wouldn't it? Antrax or smallpox released in an urban city would be catosrophic... but how much worse would it be if you could infect the leaders first, then the civilian population? You would basically be disabling the command and control structure. I would think military people in the govt. or think tanks somewhere are running over the same scenarios thinking "Okay... if this was something else what would have been our response?" Wasn't that long ago no one would have ever thought Terrorist would use aircraft to target buildings either. Again... not trying to scare people or talk all nutty... just kind of talking off teh top of my head.

Fair warning this sounds really nutty... Something that crossed my mind today... I remember reading about a weird thing happening back in Jan... so I did a little looking up on the web. Plague allegedly killed Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb terrorists [LINK] Jan 21, 2009 "On Monday, the Sun ran a story reporting that 40 terrorists from AQIM had died of plague in a terrorist training camp in Tizi Ouzou. Yesterday, Eli Lake from the Washington Times confirmed through one of his source in the U.S. intelligence community that an incident had taken place at a training camp that had to be shut down as a result. The deaths were not confirmed though." Now fast forward to April 17th 2009... The President and his team visit Mexico. Now today, (April 30th)... [LINK] Administration Aide Suspected of Contracting Swine Flu An Energy Department employee who was part of the advance team for President Obama's recent trip to Mexico is suspected of having contracted the swine flu virus and transmitting it to his family in Anne Arundel County, the White House said today. The man is on the security staff of Energy Secretary Steven Chu, who traveled with Obama to Mexico on April 16. He is believed to have transmitted the highly contagious virus to his wife, son and nephew, press secretary Robert Gibbs said. The woman and young boys appear to be the three Anne Arundel County residents who, officials said yesterday, have tested positive as "probable" victims of the virus. -------- Soooo... is it that far out of line to wonder if there might, just might... be a little more to this than meets the eye? Could it be possible that back in January something was made a little to strong, or fast acting... and then recomposed and implemented? I know this sounds extremely nutty, and waaaay off the mark. Something in my head just sort of made me to start thinking in this direction. I doubt very seriously this is anything but just another Flu, but if a foreign enemy wanted to do something... wouldn't this be the way they would try it?

Sony ICD-P620, works well with a PC, not with a mac though. (Which Pissed me off.) Records into a special format, with a PC you can download the software to convert it to wav, mp3 etc. Recordes pretty well, holds a large amount. I have a Verizon enV2 cellphone, you can set it to record for up to an hour. It works the best. No one notices a cellphone anymore, and you can look like your setting the ringer off. Laying it on a table with your keys draws practically no attention. You can upload the file then convert it free on the web to wav, or mp3. I had a need this year for a recording device and posted on here. Search for my post and you might find some more info on others people suggested.

I don't know if you did those two above... but it shoudl be stated, that is some really nice clipping paths!

David has a point, yet right now all ammo is hard to find. I prefer .357 sig myself, but I would be dishonest if I didn't admit that because of the price of ammo I have thought about a 9mm to play with. Not really worrying about an "End of World" type of situation happening, so being able to go anywhere and find ammo isn't a real concern. I keep hoping against hope that the prices will come down. I found an old empty box of .357 sig FMJ Lawman... the sticker said $11 bucks. Now the best I can do is $23* a box (FMJ), unless you buy in bulk from Georgia Arms. (*This puts it in the range of .45 ACP per box, and I don't see a lot of people trying to talk people out of buying .45s because they are too expensive to shoot.) Considering how much time I actually have to shoot these days, I generally leave with ammo left unfortunitely. A P2000SK in .357 for $625 sound pretty good to me. I've shot a mini-glock in .357 sig and really liked it. So I would think the HK would be pretty sweet too. I carry a USPc, yet wouldn't mind having a "SK" as well. I'm a small guy and every bit helps in the summer when concealing.

I have an F-150, and an expedition... the storage compartments on both work well a standard Fobus paddle holster. (Whoops! Did i just type Fobus?!?) Doesn't move a lot and teh paddle part seems to help stablize it a little. I use it that way on really long trips sometimes. Like to Florida and stuff.

Which is of course... the only sensible thing the internet is for, and I suspect was truly the only function it was meant to serve.

357 sig Frangible bad for your barrel?!?
creeky replied to creeky's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Thanks guys... trying to figure out if this is an internet myth, or if there is any hard data out there to confirm. It's cheap, and functions well in my HK, but I don't want to do anything to damage it. -
Okay guys, I have shot Speer Frangible ammo through my Hk. he functioned fine and was accurate. It is also very cheap! I had expected to try and use it when I got the money together to take the C.I.S. Defensive Pistol class. Now I am reading on other gun forums there may be a problem with this frangible ammo, especially in the .357 sig caliber! (YIKES!) Here is a snippet of what I have read... "This issue was personally discussed as it related to Sig products, and specifically to .357 Sig frangible LEO practice ammo in 2006. At that time, there were numerous reports of factory Sig barrels that, after extensive use with frangible ammo, appeared to have nearly smooth bores because most of the rifling had been eroded. The only factor common to all guns with this problem was the use of non toxic ammunition with frangible bullets. No one can question the fact that this phenomenon has happened and has been well documented for years. The only question left to be answered is this: do frangible bullets cause this extreme form of erosion, or is it the lead-free primers used in "non-toxic" ammunition?" Does anyone else have any more knowledge or experience with this? I'm hearing it's basically wearing out the rifling at an excellerated rate. Needless to say I have 150 rounds left, out of 250 I have bought. I don't intend to buy anymore mind you either. This has made me more than a little wary.
