  1. Very nice! congrats to your brother.
  2. I'm so sorry for your loss, I will keep you and your wife in my thoughts and prayers.
  3. Those GSG-5's are so cool looking. Congrats on the purchase, hope you like them.
  4. My brother in law has one (not for sale) and it is a neat gun. He had problems out of his with the Redfield scope that came as part of the package. Hasn't replaced it because you can't get one to match. Good luck finding one, I don't think they made alot of them.
  5. Yeah, I'd say you did pretty good on that deal, hope you enjoy it.
  6. Everything I've heard and read says not to shot +P through them, though I haven't tried it myself with mine. It may have something to do with the under powered spring. I don't have the factory manual so I'm not sure what Marlin says about it. Hope you enjoy it, I think they're really cool little rifles.
  7. I would seriously consider one for the right price. They have gotten very good reviews everywhere I've looked. That new stock definitely takes away the ugly factor.
  8. Got a stripped lower for $130 OTD right before the election, and built it into a 20" flattop, flattop gas block, skeleton stock, DPMS LPK for about $725. Very satisfied with it for the price.
  9. Welcome from Dickson also!!
  10. That smurf rifle would go for at least $1200 over on LSN.

If you can find a Ruger Mk I,II, or III in your price range I would think of going that route. I've got a Mk I target which is very accurate and love it.
  12. Most of the ones I see are anywhere from $350-$500. I personally wouldn't give more than $350 or so for one. They are pretty good little carbines, but there are a few things you need to do to help out a stock gun. It will definitely need a new buffer (blackjack buffers). The stock ones are almost always bad. It will also need a heavier recoil spring (Wolff springs 16lb.). Making these two improvements will do wonders for it. These guns had a problem with cracking stocks in the pistol grip area due to the bad stock buffers. If you do buy it, replace these two parts before you shoot it, trust me. I didn't and cracked my stock a little. After the upgrades it has been a great little shooter. I definitely plan on keeping mine. I think the parts cost me around $35 total so figure that in your price.
  13. Awesome read...I'll definitely be passing this on.
  14. Carl's perfect pig in White Bluff is good for ribs. For a real hole in the wall, Fossie's in Dickson makes a great pulled pork sandwich.
  15. These guys always have some of the best prices at the gun shows. They made a sweet deal for a buddy of mine a few months ago. I'll have to go check them out sometime.
  16. +1
  17. Thanks for the good info, this will come in handy in about a week when my parts come in.
  18. Musicman, I too travel to London,Ky pretty often, actually just got back from there tonight. I've got Sprint on my Blackberry, and it works fine there. However, it can be pretty spotty coming across the Cumberland Pkwy, but works fine around Bowling Green also. I am tied down to Sprint because this is an employer provided phone, but my previous phone was with Verizon and it had better coverage to me.
  19. Haven't been to Hero Gear yet (going this week) but will agree with Whitaker's in Owensboro, that place has more long guns than anywhere I've ever been at very competitive prices.
  20. That is truly and awesome deer on a perfect hunt. I'm sure he didn't sleep a wink last night after all the excitement.
  21. +1 on that idea, that would be pretty cool. Also would help me on my upcoming build.
  22. Very nice, hoping to start my build very soon.
  23. This is right up my alley too, as I have the 1894 paired with a SBH Hunter. Georgia Arms makes a round called "Deer Stopper" which is a 200 gr. JHP loaded to 1400 fps I think for about $20/50. Very accurate out of mine and plenty of "thump". You also may want to try the Federal American Eagle's 240gr., they are full house loads too and have been accurate for me but about $33/50. Either way, good looking set you got there!
  24. Fallguy, I agree with you about Dixie Cafe, it was one of my favorites when I lived in Arkansas. If you get to Hot Springs much, you've got to try McClard's BBQ, it's my favorite anywhere.
