    1911 virus

RI and SA have good 1911 9mm pistols.  My RI pistol was 100% out of the box.  My RO Compact took a few boxes before becoming 100% reliable.  The finish and sights are better on the RO but it cost a few dollars more.  Try to locate both of these as well as other brands before making a decision.  I also like my EMP but it probably isn't the best pistol for a first 1911.  You'll quickly learn the 1911 is an addiction, as you doing the paperwork on one, you're already beginning to have thoughts about which one to get next.
  2. My hound can sleep thru anything but hear a refrigerator door open during a tornado.
  3. 10-11 ,14, 20, 23-24, 26-32, 35-38, 41-43, 46-48, 50-54, 56-67, 70-72, 74-76, 78-80 available
  4. My wife wouldn't go along with the Gun of the Month Club so I'm not expecting much from this.
  5. Another 938 user here.  After a year I'm happy with the size and weight and recently added the extended magazine.
  6. If you'd ever worn a uniform then you might understand why it's important what the Army carries for a pistol.  Some soldiers carry a pistol in the performance of their duties.
  7. After getting several pistols it's time to feed the knife addiction again.  I'll be waiting to see what options become available.
  8. The first handgun I ever fired was a 1911.  After shooting .357 revolvers for several years I got a 1911.  The majority of pistols in my safe are now .45 ACP.  Safety rules are always the same for all guns.  Try several different pistols and you'll find the one that you prefer.
  9. Congrats on a fine pistol!  I've had one on my list for several years.

    Bye Bye Bersa

The LCP and P238 have been the only 380 pistols I've trusted to carry.
  11. The Remington R1 is a good pistol for the price.  You may want to also consider Ruger and Springfield Armory. There are many options in the 1911. Comander or fullsize would be better than a compact for your first 1911.
  12. I have a G27 and like it but I haven't had the desire to have another glock.  However I seem to find a 1911 or knife that I need every month.
  13. I often heard that statement back in the 80s in TX but I never attributed it to Harrry Truman.
  14. Saving $25 per week would cover the cost of this knife.
  15. I usually wear contacts with commercially made safety glasses.
  16. After working at several nuclear facilities as an employee and contractor, I think the answer is NO.  A firearm will not be allowed anywhere on their property.
  17. My first press was a RCBS Rock Chucker in 1978.  I'm still using it now.
  18. I seldom carry a revolver as a primary weapon due to reloading issues.
  19. I'd be more concerned with those who abuse booze and meth being in my home than someone carrying his weapon.
  20. Thanks for your service and welcome to TN.
  21. Nice shop!  They had a very good selection of .22 ammo at reasonable prices.  Yesterday I stopped to get ammo and left with a DW Guardian.
  22. It's simple: Repeat class, complete application process this time.
  23. Congrats on a nice pistol!
  24. All the soldiers I knew were OD green.
  25.   Did you have a problem when Jack Welch laid off thousands of workers at GE? Those that have the money make the rules.
