Thanks Bob!

Hey guys, I have a 3 part question; I have a 17 year old nephew who wants to go with his 17 year old friend to his friends property to shoot shotguns. The property is around 100 acres west of Nashville. He was asking me if it was legal for them to do. So that's the first question. I told them that I believe if the property was not unsafe to shoot a firearm, their age shouldn't be a problem. Second question, he also asked me if was legal for him to buy a handgun when he turns 18? I told him I thought at 18 it was legal for him to purchase a handgun through a private seller, but of course not through a FFL. 3rd, under current TN law, is there a provision for an 18 year old to legally carry a handgun# Can anyone clarify the TN laws for me? Thanks!

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
ac3boyz replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
Baldwin stated "I would never point a gun at a person and pull the trigger". Pretty sure the rule is, "we don't ever point a gun at a person". Period. -

Rob, they currently aren't running IDPA at the Terry Waldren Range. However, there are two other ranges with monthly matches within approximately 1.5 hrs from Tullahoma. Dead Zero in Spencer, TN https://deadzeroshooting.com/ Chattanooga Practical Shooter's in Soddy-Daisy https://www.montlakesportsmensclub.com/ Match schedules can be found at https://practiscore.com/search/matches

I wet tumble using a Lyman Cyclone tumbler with a tablespoon of Lyman cleaning solution (I'm gonna try some Dawn detergent next batch) and a pinch of Lemishine. I've recently stopped using the pins because of the hassle of separating them and because they do a great job of cleaning the inside of the brass. I think that the carbon inside the case is actually beneficial as the carbon lubrication seems to help the cases run through the press easier. I have the tumble time down to about 1.5 hrs and the brass comes out so shiny, its almost blinding.

Restrict NEW members from sending private messages?
ac3boyz replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
I wouldn't be opposed to any of those terms. At the same time I feel we are all grown ass adults and I would expect that other members are proactive and check out when an individual joined TGO, their activity on the board, and where they are located and then use common sense before following through with any type of transaction. All of us started with our first interaction buying or selling with no feedback from previous dealings. And not all of us would be considered "active" contributors to the forum. I would hate to see a legitimate new member discouraged from joining this awesome forum. JMHO -
I carry as many rounds as comfortable depending upon what I'm wearing and the environment I plan on being at. That may be anything from a .380 LCP to a full-size M&P with 17 round mags. Usually a Shield and now a Shield- Plus. But I always want to have an additional mag. I believe that shooting under less than ideal circumstances, fighting off an attacker, shooting from different positions, ie retention, the possibility of a malfunction warrants having an additional magazine available.

I'm with MacGyver on this. Good time of year for fishing FL. You never know what you might bring in. Since the wife has caught the bug, we're fishing every morning and evening. Love it!

Church/Volunteer Security Teams
ac3boyz replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
We use Kenwood radios with 2 wire ear piece /push to talk systems very similar to Davids above https://www.kenwood.com/usa/com/lmr/tk-2402v_3402u/ If we had the money to replace them, there are much more compact radios now available that utilize the above wiring system. I believe they are actually cheaper. -

Did a thing. Benchmade 273GY-1 MINI ADAMAS CruWear knife.
ac3boyz replied to TGO David's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
The mini wasn't available at BladeHQ when I first checked, so I used the "notify me" option. Received an email about a week later that it was available. Purchased one and a few days later it was out of stock again. I didn't see any other websites at the time that had them available. I've carried this knife since I received it and like it a lot. Very smooth operation. Specs show it's heavier than most of my usual auto's that I carry but it's not noticeable in the pocket. -

not nice, lol. maybe they were getting ladies jeans!
-
I've given up on Levy's (politics) and Wrangler both due to inconsistent fit. They're not the most durable or price friendly but I've really found I like Lucky jeans. You can usually find them on sale for $50-60. interesting note, when you unzip the fly, there's a tag that says "you got lucky". I assume that's for someone other than yourself that's doing the unzipping.

If you're interested in taking a training class but don't have the 400-500 round for the day, Agape is currently providing ammo for participants. At a cost of course.
-
Our church security team has used Agape for about 3 years now. Quality, experienced instructors, and as Safety-First stated, they're more interested in teaching than bragging on what they can do. Handgun classes begin with the basics, safety and shooting fundamentals and proceed through shooting on the move and using cover to room clearing in a shoot house. A Tac4 classes introduces physical and mental stress. Our team also took their non-firearm classes, non-aggressive subject control, hard empty hand (spear technique) and disarming techniques. Overall, I would highly recommend training with Ken and his team.

Just got home today. No issues with SW on either end. Also, props for the Apache case from Harbor Freight.

Who Here Has A Generator, And It Saved Them ?
ac3boyz replied to billt's topic in Survival and Preparedness
Our main breaker is on the north end of the house. main circuit board is in the laundry about 10 feet to the south. Lee ran wiring from our circuit board to just outside the garage, on the opposite end of the house. Now we only have to roll the generator outside of the garage to plug in. Also, it's not visible from the road and thus hopefully less susceptible to theft.
