  1. 10-Ring, I'm not being critical, looks like a good source of info, but I'd suggest some caution when using the TWRA maps.  TWRA's overlay info may have something to do with how they define "Huntable Lands" instead of their actual property limits.  Or it could just be sloppy work on the overlay.      I'm fairly familiar with the Cheatham County area and I see a lot of private property under TWRA's green shading.  All the "square corners" and North, South, East, West "edges" are pretty good clues; property here was never surveyed by sections.  Most property lines either follow a natural detail like a stream, etc. or, if they are straight, they're at some random alignment .  It made sense to someone at the time but it's hard to understand today.    Also, I noticed the base photo changes as you zoom to different levels.  They were taken at different times with, probably, several years in between, so things may have changed from one photo to another.  Most likely more houses and development on the newer one.
  2. Yeah, when I first saw it but not for long.  I think it developed a case of lead poisoning.  Had rooted up about 1/4 acre of my neighbor's yard.  About 25 miles northwest of Nashville.
  3. Welcome to the new metropolitan Davidson County...   http://www.tennessean.com/story/news/politics/2015/10/27/megan-barry-weighs-gun-control-issues/74697254/   Can't say there are any surprises here though.  Some words are definitely solidifying her position.  Like "Urban areas often have different challenges than rural areas when it comes to firearms. It makes sense for cities to be able to craft reasonable restrictions that protect the Second Amendment rights of our citizens". I guess I'm just too dumb to understand how local politicians have a responsibility to craft and apply  "reasonable restrictions" to the Constitution of the United States of America.   Berry's liberal history was well known before she was elected by a minority of Metro Nashville's  registered voters.  I don't know what it will take to  "wake up" the majority and get them to the polls. If it doesn't happen soon though, this is the future. All four largest cities in Tennessee all have Democratic politicians as mayors.
  4. "Dorsey told them and they not only caught up with the suspect, but they started shooting at him."  If this statement is right the good Samaritans may have a legal issue.  Don't think I'd like to be in their shoes right now.
  5. Agreed.  They aren't at the low end of pricing; not at the top either. I looked at many covers that had prices with 4 numbers left of the decimal. I've been guilty of "saving money" just to replace my bargain buy before I expected.  I've also over bought on things and gotten more that I really needed.  I try to keep it in the "Buy once; Cry once" range on most things.
  6. +1 on Bak Flip.  I have a G2 on a F150 crew cab and I'm very pleased with it overall.  I like the way it folds back and secures to open the bed. All but about 4-5" of you bed is completely open for loading larger things; can't do that with a fiberglass unit.  Yeah, you block the rear window but you have side mirrors.  I don't think any cover is really 100% watertight but this one is very close.  Just a few drops of water, if any, after a trip through the car wash or heavy storms.  The cover is aluminum; expect any hail storms that ding your truck to leave some on the cover.
  7. +1 on the welcomes.  Good group of folks; hope you enjoy the conversations.
  8. Thanks, Kevin.  Good info that I'll have to consider.
  9. I  ordered a Cloak 3.0 for my son on 9/15.  Quoted 4-6 weeks.  Received a shipping notice late on 9/24.  Delivered on 9/28.  Your mileage may vary.
  10. Montgomery County Shooting Complex.  Rifle range up to 400 yards.  Fits your 100 mile requirement.  Never been there but the comments I've heard were positive.   http://www.shoottn.org/pistolrifle.cfm
  11. I can hear it now " But officer, I didn't make a false call...  I was really scared that mean man's big, bad ugly GUN would jump out and start shooting everything in sight."    :shake:
  12. I'm a thinkin' bout dustin off a cher and a heading into town!
  13. I want to agree this has no chance of passage but some things about it bother me.  The government already requires us to purchase liability insurance if we drive vehicles (yeah, I know, a lot of people don't). That sets a clear precedence the government can require insurance coverage and make the private citizen pay for it.  Since Obamacare, same thing for health insurance.  Makes the "government can't force me" argument hard to sell. Same with "they are stepping on my rights".    It should help lock in some Democratic votes in the states with a lot of liberal left-wingers but wouldn't hurt them in conservative states where they aren't going to get the votes anyway. Plus this would be a huge financial win for the insurance industry.  Big buck$$; low risk.  I doubt they will openly support this proposal, at least until it get's some legs, but behind the scenes who knows?  The health insurance fiasco shows their political strength.   Don't really think we should just blow it off as some libs' dream.
  14. You got us right; we're a bunch of terrible influences...  Great ain't it!
  15. And we are regularly advised they are going bankrupt.  Wonder why!
  16. What it is today is the history that you are wanting to pass to the future generations.  Sure it looks, and probably is, a little rough but every ding and dent is a story and a part of your family's experiences.  Personally I'd keep it as is with just enough maintenance to keep it preserved. Just my 2 cents.
  17. I'm always amazed by these "leaders" who freely ask others to die for their beliefs but are never willing to lead by example.  Guess the rewards for being a martyr aren't enough for them.
  18. The Adventure Science Center in Nashville.  Took our 8 year old granddaughter last year and she loved it.  There an admission and some things are extra but it was interesting.  A very full 1/2 day, maybe more and an easy drive for you.  Check their web site:  http://www.adventuresci.org/   The "cave country" in the south part of Kentucky.  Several cave tours to chose depending on your interest.  Corvette Museum is in Bowling Green.  Some amusement parks in the area too.  Could definitely be a weekend trip.http://www.kentuckytourism.com/articles/hart-county-the-heart-of-kentucky-cave-country/41/  ;  http://www.nps.gov/maca/index.htm   It might stretch your 3 hour travel, but consider Land Between the Lakes.  National Recreation Area.  1850 Working Homestead and museum, Bison and elk herds roaming on open range. Several other things.  Camping or cabins.  http://www.landbetweenthelakes.us/
  19. Interesting link but I don't see Gabby Gifford's name anywhere in it.
  20. Great piece of family / US history EssOne.  Thanks for sharing it.   I realize more each day what we lost by not researching and recording our family's history while those that lived it were still here. For some reason many peoples' interest in family seems to develop later in our lives.  For those that still have family elders with you I strongly encourage you to follow EssOne's example and save your history while the knowledge is still available.  Sure wish that I had.
