  1. I don't worry about printing. Most people are too buried in their cell phones to notice.
  2.   Robert,   Just keep practicing, you'll get the hang of it. For me, its gotten to the point where if I'm holding anything pistol shaped, like an impact gun, my finger automatically indexes along the side.
  3.   I had the same model as the black one, and it was a great little gun. Can't go wrong with it unless you are dead set on having one in stainless.
  4. I've got several unused AR lowers sitting in the safe, I'm giving serious consideration to building one into a 7" pistol in something like 300 BLK and carrying it in a dedicated bag to and from the office. My normal EDC is either a Sig p938 or a Glock 22 - it isn't going to do much against a couple of Jihadis with AKs and body armor.
  5. Thanks, I'll give Sig a call and see if they will send me a new guide rod. I'm curious if they have changed out the part.
  6. Took my P938 out to the range over the holiday weekend  and after about 100-150 rounds, the weapon was starting to fail to go into battery every 2-3 rounds, and after the last magazine, the guide rod was protruding about half an inch out of the gun. At that point I just put the weapon up and starting shooting my other guns.   When I got home and took it apart, it turns out my guide rod had separated and I was probably lucky I didn't lose it at the range. I did a little research over the weekend, and it seems this is normal? It took about 500-600 rounds through the gun to get to this point, so I'm still carrying it (and I put a little Red Locktite on the threads) - but I know there are a lot of 938 users on here. Has Sig (or anyone else for that matter) released a one piece guide rod for this pistol? I didn't find one using google, but maybe you all know something I don't. Based on forum posts Locktite seems to be a 50/50 proposition as to being a permanent fix.
  7. Another vote for the Ruger MK III here.
  8. I've got big hands and find the full size to be more comfortable and don't have a hard time concealing it, so I prefer the bigger gun. There really isn't much difference between the two, and I can shoot them both about the same.
  9. Yeah, just stay away from Walmart. My two instances of "flashing" my gun happened at a Walmart.   First time I'm unlocking my car and I hear "Hey, hey HEY YOU!!!!" I look over and there is this 400 pound running full steam at the front of my car, hands in his pockets yelling at me. I moved to the back of my car so it was between us, pulled my jacket open so he could see my gun (Glock 22 in a shoulder holster) and told him to stop. He stops at the front of my car and gives me some story about how he needs money to put tires on his car (his demeanor is pretty pissed off and angry), I tell him I can't help him, and he moves off. Didn't see a reason to pull, but he put the breaks on as soon as he saw my holster.   Second time I was in the self checkout lane about 1:00am (emergency run for my wife) and some dude that was obviously high as a kite gets uncomfortably close and starts asking about my purchases, what I'm doing, and where I'm parked. I figured he was either interviewing me to rob me in the parking lot later, or was looking for a gay pickup. I politely told him to get lost and "adjusted" my shirt tail to show off my Glock 27 holstered in my waistband. He got the hint and wandered off.
  10. Here is the exact quote from the CMP Sales Update November 13, 2015:   An update on the 1911 pistols. The revised NDAA has passed the House and Senate. It is on its way to the President's desk for signature. We have no further information at this time.     Thank you for your support,      Mark Johnson Chief Operating Officer
  11. CMP sent around an email this morning stating the language was in the revised bill that passed the House and Senate, just needs El Presidente's signature.
  12. Keeping my fingers crossed the bill doesn't get vetoed. I'm curious to see the pricing structure when / if this happens.
  13.   My wife and I visited DC a few years ago, and we stayed in Virginia (where my HCP was recognized) and I could keep a firearm. When we went into DC, we rode the Marta and left the guns in the hotel. If memory serves, Arlington is actually in Virginia not DC proper (although the cemetery is still federal property and probably verbotten to carry in). Assuming that Virginia has good guns in parking lot laws, you should be able to park near the cemetery in Virginia and either walk or take the Marta while leaving your gun locked in your car.   Here is the Marta website, there are a lot of stops in Virginia and it has a stop within walking distance of the cemetery:   http://www.wmata.com/   Don't take your guns into DC. Their laws are very strict, they don't recognize our HCP, and you will be in for a bad time if they pull you over and conduct a search.
  14.   Yup, if that's the norm I'm done going to movies. I'm not going to be wanded / patted down / take off my shoes to watch a frickin movie.   OP, out of curiosity, you weren't at a sneak preview were you? I've been to a few of those where they have had wands but its been to locate hidden camera equipment not weapons. Every time I've been to a sneak preview I've avioded getting wanded because I wasn't carrying a bag / purse (and I've carried right past them).
  15. For those of you that have Facebook:   https://www.facebook.com/Gun-Free-Dining-144575962244929/timeline/   For those of you that don't:   "GFDT will stop operating as of June 1, 2015. It has been difficult for us to continually update the changing policies of the hundreds of restaurants listed in our database, and to       keep up with the many closings and new openings taking place in the restaurant industry. We want to thank all our supporters, and hope that you can all -- on your own -- ask restaurants that serve alcohol to post no-gun signs."
  16. In no particular order, my list is:   East German or Russian Makarov S&W 4506 Beretta M9 US issued 1911 S&W Model 29 Deagle in .50, chrome finished perfered Hi Power Walther p38 Walther PPK Colt Python   All these would be range toys / collectibles. I pretty much have by HD / CCW needs locked down.
  17. I pocket carried through the entrance, did not see any posting, and was not stopped or searched. Smiled and nodded at a city cop manning the entrance with a wand and didn't get so much as a second glance. Didn't see anyone else stopped or searched while I was there.   Good luck with the suit.
  18. Another 938 user checking in.   Also have an LCP, which would be my preference over the Body Guard (smaller, and though while still long, the LCPs trigger is much betters that the Body Guards I've shot).
  19. Reporters are trained to ignore off camera distractions - sort of a purposeful condition white.   Sad story, thoughts and prayers to the victims families.
  20. Our local Regal did something similar after Aurora when my wife and I, along with another couple went to the movies. Both my wife and my friends wife got their purses searched, my friend and I both carried (IWB) past the searcher. Concealed means concealed.
  21. Strange as it is, I don't know that I've seen any bloody shirt waving about banning "assault weapons" or "high capacity" magazines this time around. Most of the talk seems to be about letting soldiers carry on post.   I'm sure once the FBI releases their report the shirt waving will commence.
  22. You might want to check ebay as well. I picked up a used Bushmaster carry handle for about $50.00 a couple of years ago and it works fine.   I also have the PSA one Garufa cited to and its a good piece. Can't tell much of a difference between the two except for the PSA logo.
  23. I've got a CMMG .22LR 20" upper, and I've built a couple of ARs with their LPK. I've never had any issues out of either of them, so I'd buy their stuff again.   I'm building a 9mm ar pistol right now using one of their dedicated 9mm lowers. Standard LPK fit fine but it isn't finished yet. Planning on using their ramped bolt when I have some spare cash.   Having said that, I've never bought one their built firearms, just parts.
  24.   I was nervous when I first started carrying, but the way I overcame it was to load a snap cap in the chamber and then drop my gun and holster several times. The weapon never "discharged" so I started carrying with one in the pipe.   If your weapon is functional and you are carrying in a proper holster, you have nothing to worry about. If you are pocket carrying, please remember that your pocket can only carry the gun (and should still be in a proper pocket holster). Don't put other items in that pocket, as you increase the odds that something will come in contact with the trigger and cause a negligent discharge.
