  1. This is something I did not know.  Does the same go for using large rifle primers instead of large pistol?
  2. I had one a couple years ago.  I really liked it, but started having a couple issues with it chambering the next round.  I sent it back, FN fixed it, but I wound up selling it.  I got another because I missed the one I had.  The second one had the same issues as the first.  Again, FN fixed it, but I sold that one too.  I can tell you two things.  One was it had issues with Winchester white box ammo.  Their specs are rather loose and the FN did not like long rounds.  Second, I am just now getting to be as accurate with another pistol as I was with the FN.   Great, now you've got me thinking about getting another.
  3. I use 4.7 grains Unique for a target load.  It works fine in the XDm.  I use a Precision 115 grain bullet.
  4. What mcurrier said.  The 40 is pretty sharp.  I notice it a lot more compared to the 45 or 9.  To me, the 45 has more than the 9, but a +p 9mm is about the same.
  5. Depends on how you are planning to carry.  Crossbreed and Kholster both make excellent inside the waistband holsters.  They are tuckable, so you can wear them with a nice shirt, or drape a t-shirt over them.  If you are looking to carry OWB, I have used Bladetech for awhile, but recently got an Aholster.  The Bladetech works fine and offers a good grip angle, but it sticks out from your side a bit.  You can still cover it with a t-shirt.  The Aholster is very new to me and holds the pistol very close to the body.  It covers very nicely with a t-shirt.  It is also made in Jonesboro.
  6. I have several sets. I was a firm believer until one of my front light pipes fell off. I still really like them, but having this kind of failure causes me some concern. Also, for those questioning the need for night sights, try turning your weapon light on at night. Can you see the sights well enough to aim? For me, all I saw was a shadow on top of the slide. No where near clear enough for me to feel comfortable pulling the trigger on anything more than contact distance. The night sights give me an aiming point for whatever is illuminated by the flashlight. YMMV, so it is best to test your specific setup.
  7. I was selling some used tires for $40. A guy from Washington state asked if I would ship.
  8. Just this moring I was heading back downstairs when a wolf spider ran out of the bathroom across the hallway. Not a big deal normally because I don't really worry about these guys, but this one had run across a dust bunny under the shelf and was trailing it behind him. That turned a harmless normal spider into a hairy freak of nature. Luckily I wasn't on the stairs yet or I might be posting from the hospital.

I agree with Garufa, your OTD price is too high. It's the original $430 price plus tax, give or take a few bucks. If you have to have it, don't go over $425 OTD.
  10. I got a chance to meet both David and babelt at the Gray show. David told me several things about reloading 10mm and got me moving in the right direction. Babelt wound up staying at the show all weekend. A couple of really nice guys I'm glad I got to meet.
  11. My dad got a Ruger Security Six .357 with a 2" barrel. The first time he took it out, he set up a can about 25 yards away. My first shot hit the can. That was one of the times you are talking about for me. I am self-taught, learning on rifles and a revolver. I am a pretty good shot when target shooting. I started IDPA over a year ago and really made some improvements in shooting while moving. Then, at one match several months ago, I started jerking the trigger. Completely out of the blue, with no changes from the previous matches in terms of equipment or ammo. It has taken me several months to work that out, and I still don't feel completely sure I won't jerk every time I pull the trigger. It has caused me to go back over a lot of basics, so as frustrating as it is, I think it will make me an even better shot once I work through it.

    Opinions on Kel-tec

One PF-9 I have has been flawless. The other I bought used and had many FTE issues. A call to Keltec and I had an extractor on the way. Put it in myself, and it has been flawless since. I use mine as backups.
  13. Wideners is out of the surplus too. They still have steel case for a decent price.
  14. And if you ferment it, you get mead, another wonder drug.
  15. peejman has it right. My Yugo is a great shooter, but it is a battle rifle, so don't expect gnat's eye groups. My trigger was also terrible, very heavy and long. You want to make sure you have positive sear engagement. The easiest way to check is remove the trigger group, lock it in a vise, and pull the trigger. You will be watching how the hammer moves. If it moves forward during the initial trigger pull, that is bad and is what causes firing when dropped, etc. Mine moved way forward. You could see the slope on the sear going the wrong way. I did a home trigger job and got positive engagement. I also smoothed everything out. It still has a lot of initial travel, but it is so much smoother. My groups were cut almost in half. Tech sights are a great addition. Increased sight radius and better overall picture. Pop for the narrowed front sight when you order.
  16. Don't know, but the Russian SKS is the cream of the SKS crop. If it is a real russian, I would really be interested.
  17. The crossbow is Daryl's weapon of choice, so I don't think he missed the pistol from the perspective of depending on it. I'm afraid that if I was running away from walkers I would not spend a huge amount of time looking for one I didn't plan to use much anyway. Of course, the season finale may make every weapon vital. I think this is the way they have everyone leave the farm. They were getting settled in to the point where they were moving into the house instead of camping. Remember the first season had them getting comfortable at the CDC only to have it blow up and the season end with them on the run.
  18. Based on the images shown after Shane died the first time and before he started walking around, I figure next season the aliens that seeded Earth with the zombie virus will come back to take all the undead to their home planet as soldiers. That will leave Rick and Laurie as the new Adam and Eve. But, I could be wrong.
  19. This sounds like you did fine. I might have said something that all he had to do was ask, just to let him know he could have said something to me first, but overall, I think I would have done the same.
  20. According to the article, this guy set his pistol on the sink. I am guessing it had a locking door to the room.
  21. Saw a little blurb in the paper today about a guy in a local convenience store bathroom who accidently fired a round into the floor when re-holstering after finishing his business. LEO was called, but no mention of charges, and most importantly no one was hurt. Guy said his shirt must have gotten caught in the trigger as he was holstering into his hip holster. A couple things about this: He has an HCP according to the database (not mentioned in story). No mention of any charges placed. The story was in the local briefs section, not headline news.

    Ruger SR9C

I got one for myself, but my wife liked it so well she started carrying it. It worked great for awhile, but then started getting light strikes. It only had maybe 500 rounds through it. I thought it was maybe something she was doing, but it happend to me a couple times too. It might just need a spring change. I still think they are great pistols, but keep an eye out for this.
  23. Just got back from the meeting. This was a public meeting, BTW. No postings anywhere, and I looked all over. There is a fence around the facility, but no guard at the entrance, although there were several NG personnel greeting us as we came through the doors. They looked happy to see people as they don't normally get a lot of visitors.
  24. I figured that was the case, but there are also gun shows at armories, so wasn't completely sure.
  25. I have a meeting at a National Guard armory. Does this fall under the government buildings no carry rule?
