  1. I just got back from walmart. Thankfully I didn't get tackled.
  2. My trailer was originally built to haul a motorcycle, hence the gate. I don't think I could see my trailer at all without the gate, backing up would be awful without it. When you build one, make it the easily removable kind. Mine is bolted on and the bolts are so rusty I'm sure I'd have to cut them off. As for the grade 8 bolts, you'll break the brackets long before you bend those bolts.
  3. Holy crap! If that's completely real, that's.... Just wow.
  4.     Yep, they should be available in the store.  They have a couple different sizes. http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/flip-type-ring-anchor-5000-lbs-load             My trailer has a rear gate/ramp so I got some reflectors and attached them to the gate.  TSC has those too.
  5. Maybe Nashville is different than redneck-ville east TN, but I feel certain they're not going to stop teaching algebra and geometry.  They're just changing the names of the classes to something less scary sounding.  Kinda like Comcast changing it's name to Xfinity...   I've had conversations with my kid's teachers about the common core stuff and they all think it's stupid too.  They view it as nothing more than the current fad and are patiently waiting for it to pass.
  6. Meh...  I'd guess it's just a glass or carbon reinforced polymer.  It doesn't tell you anything about dimensional stability and consistency of the end product.  Their "heat" test is also completely bogus.  Of course it takes longer than 30 seconds for the hand guards to heat up.  Let it soak for a couple minutes and see how hot they are.
  7. Nice!  Utility trailers sure are handy.  Mine also has a mini-van rear axle and it works great.  The trailer itself is really heavy for it's size, but it's built like a tank.  I've ridiculously over-loaded it a couple times and it pulled just fine.  I also recently upgraded from 14" wheels to 15" because the tires had dry rotted.  Mine could also stand to be re-painted... how many rattle cans did it take to cover it?   $30 for the submersible LED light kit is a good deal.  I've been thinking about upgrading the lights on my trailer as well.  There's a TSC right next to where I work so I may stop in there and pick that up.  I also like the tie-down brackets you've got, my trailer could use a few more of those.
  8.   Nope, but I'm a lot closer to 62 than I am to Ralphie's age.  :)   And I agree completely... Had it been a 6'3", 250lb, 28yr old with a buzz cut and arms the size of my legs walking into walmart with his wife and kids... there would be no story, regardless of skin color.
  9.     There was a guy in my class with a .22 SA revolver.  He was shooting full bullseye style... standing sideways, with his arm straight out and firing really slowly.  Pretty much the whole class would be done with their string and he was still on shot #2....   After a couple rounds even the instructors were like... "We get it, you're a good shot.  Get on with it please."  When he was done there was a 1.5" ragged hole in the middle of the target.  The guy standing next to him said not a single shot of the last 3 strings hit paper, the bullets just went through the hole and into the back stop.
  10.     Wow.  That's seriously impressive.
  11. My wife just showed me another report that showed the HCP holder was black. ... and away we go....
  12. Good news!  We'll pray the surgery goes well.
  13. I'm not a big guy nor do I know BJJ... but I was a high school wrestler and I've found that comes back quickly. Had I gotten loose from the choke hold, it would've been game on in full Ralphie mode... :)
  14.     I wonder what its like living in their world.  :squint:
  15.     Pretty much what x-ring said.    They're not very good shots, so they feel the need to buy a monster caliber to compensate for it.  They're not really hunting deer for meat, just to show their buddies how cool they are.  *grunt*... me, big strong man kill defenseless 60 lb animal with elephant gun... *grunt*
  16. Someone needs a little situational awareness bump.  I'd hope my spidy senses would kick in if some nut job was following me.
  17.   Why would you burn a perfectly good steak?
  18.     Even sorted it by percentage... extra cookies for you.
  19. Crossbreed has a "QwikClip" that's exactly as you describe.... http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/HotcakesStore/ProductViewer/tabid/113/slug/QwikClip/Default.aspx
  20. I'd also recommend you get the charging/starting system checked.  Could be an intermittent problem with the voltage regulator where it's not recharging the battery for some reason, or maybe a bad relay, or something (else) strange.    That said, I've had good luck (*knock on wood*) with Autozone Gold batteries.  There's two things I know of for lead-acid battery life... 1) check the water regularly, and 2) Don't let it discharge completely.  I check the water every time I change the oil and I probably have to add a little (distilled) water every other time.  If it's something that sits for weeks at a time, get a battery tender.  Car batteries are made for starting cars... a single huge current draw followed by a recharge cycle.  They're not made for sitting with the radio on for hours on end.
  21. I'm guessing that the small town sheriff was pissed about the fake bomb threat and got a bit over zealous in his ensuing "investigation"(due process be damned), and it nearly killed him.  With no warrant, what the sheriff did is functionally B&E.  Knowing that, they let the guy go with the promise that they'll fix what they broke and hope he doesn't sue.
  22. It would be nice if they also showed it as a percentage of the total county population.  The couple counties I looked at and state as a whole show roughly 10%.
  23.   There is such a thing as a "no knock" warrant that permit the LEO's to smash in with no warning.  They are typically reserved for apprehending violent felons where they expect armed resistance and having the element of surprise can be advantageous.  But, there's also plenty of instances where such warrants were served on the wrong people (wrong address, etc.) and innocent people got hurt or killed in the ensuing confusion.
