  1. Eh, sounds too stringy, generally not enough fat for flavor and would probably dry out on the grill.. Also, I tend to stay away from eating creatures with known brain ailments.
  2. An inexpensive low power scope would make a lot of difference when your trying to thread those shots through the leaves.
  3. I've used 410, 12 gauge and .22 on them depending on the time of year. We used shotguns when the trees were full of leaves and moved to 22 when the leaves dropped. If you can get head shots or mid body with the 22, you'll do less meat damage. I don't remember there being a lot of pellets in them though when we used shotguns. What kind of 22 setup are you using on them and what distance?
  4. That's what I'm trying. Thanks for the link. Some useful info in there on what's worth spending the effort on.
  5. I've had tomatoes and peppers do that from the veg dropping of the plant and getting buried in the dirt. What I'm trying is from leftover store bought veg.
  6. Have any of you tried re-growing your plants from the leftovers/cores ? I have a couple each of celery, romaine lettuce, and sweet potatoes out to see how well they regrow. I got them to sprout roots prior to planting. It's a waiting game now to see how well it works.
  7. H-A H-A....what a comedian. I'd have to be able to reach the pedals first.
  8. Those suits were more likely inflated by a diet of beans, rice and canned chili.
  9. Since you got my interest going, I found this site with a downloadable build list so maybe you can get a cost idea. https://buildblock.com/icfs/safety/safe-rooms/ This article also lists several other options and links to them: https://www.ottawalife.com/article/building-at-home-tornado-shelters?c=9
  10. One more thought, could you put the door on the east side of the shelter since we get the strong west winds? That may lessen the debris concerns. Either way its definitely better than the bathtub and the options we have at my house. I'm in about the next town over from you. The last couple of heavy storms have provided some less than restful nights.
  11. Would it be better to put a hole in the floor and partially bury (3-4ft) the bottom of the room to give it a lower wind profile if the exterior room gets blown away. Should be more sturdy also. Of course thats more work and means busting up your concrete pad.
  12. If its all concrete, make sure you have a blade that can actually cut the concrete. I'm not sure a wood chain will. Don't forget hearing protection since it would be crazy loud in that small room. Maybe store a heavy sledgehammer in there too.
  13. Being fairly intelligent animals, I would guess once they are in the area frequently enough to know there is a consistent food source, timing them shouldn't take too long. They may even be trained to just the sound of the feeder. Think Pavlov
  14. Sunflower or tall sorghum with Iron Clay Peas and Lablab is supposed to be a good mix. It's lots of protein and the sunflower/ sorghum gives the beans something to climb. It should provide lots of cover too. Lablab is drought tolerant too.
  15. Thanks for posting the pic. I couldn't remember how to do that.
  16. It's a Log perch. Look at the mouth angle and spots on the tail, along with alternating size vertical stripes.
  17. Is the bottom part of the mouth shorter than the top, meaning the mouth angles down more? I can't tell from the pic.
  18. I hear good things about the CZ's. My buddy has the Ruger Percision 22 and loves it. We were hitting a 6in target at 200yds and 300yds on a larger target. I've always had a 10/22.
  19. Any new drug goes through phases of human trials. They're going to start with a small group to see if there's any major adverse effects and if the results show promise. If all goes well, they move into a larger test group and repeat a few more times with larger groups each time. If they get the efficacy they are looking for, and adverse events.are acceptable, then the drug will be released. That's the short version without IND filing, IRB's, etc. A new drug release in normal circumstances is substantially longer than a year, but I guess in thsee types of scenarios the rules are eased.
  20. While water isn't an issue with this scenario presently, it would be a good idea to think about it for future preparations. I'm not saying you need to go out and buy cases of water now, but a "couple" of good water containers should be considered, especially if your storing a lot of dry goods. A Reliance Aqua-rainer holds 7 gallons and costs less than $20 each. Just cycle the water about every 6 months.
  21. Just about any lake/pond you go to, your chances of catching something are going to be within a couple of feet of any structure, as in docks, fallen trees, brush piles and trees hanging low to the water. (bass and bream). Grasses and lily pads are good too for bass. If you can find any of that near a running spring or creek that dumps into body of water, even better. Expect to get hung up on something occasionally, it's part of fishing. Right now.may be a bit tough with all the rain we've had.lately, but water temps should be going up soon and the spawn won't be far behind. Look up your local fishing reports before you go to see where and what the fish are biting on.
  22. Sportsmans Warehouse in Southaven has a short wall of materials. Since I don't tie flies, I couldn't tell you if it's a good selection or not. Seemed decent though.
