  1. And she can shoot .38SPL out of the .357Mag, also meaning if I ever got the gun back for some reason, I could shoot .357 Mag out of it as well. It is all about versatility.
  2. I gave my mother a Jennings .380 several years ago when I took the family shotgun from her. As she has gotten older, her health has failed and a 12ga coach gun was no longer ideal for home protection. I feel kinda bad about this, as the gun was a piece of... well, you all know what a Jennings is. I have been thinking about picking up a better gun for her, and because of her health and frailty I have been leaning toward a revolver. I went to Gander Mountain this evening, after seeing their ad in the paper. They have a Windicator .357 Mag for $250 after a mail in rebate. They have an aluminum frame Taurus for $100 more, but it is in .38 Special (no +P) only. Is the Windicator decent enough at that price? The frame is heavier, which makes me think the recoil would be easier for her handle. Opinions?
  3. I am pleased to see the Subforum Redirect button "Go" back. That is my biggest pet peeve with VB 4. It isn't as graphically pretty though. Pretty counts for a bit.
  4. I had an uncle as a child that had a 16ga sawed off double barrel like that, with the pistol grip. That thing was a mean monster. I shot it a handful of times, I might have been twelve or thirteen at the time. It was not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination. His was a lot shorter, and if memory serves me, after a random traffic stop I didn't see him again for a long time. And he didn't have the gun anymore.
  5. It is interesting to see that SAMBEL has thrown in with Jimmy. I didn't expect that, but I wasn't surprised. Finding out that Trinity, Moe's daughter, is Jax's half-sister wasn't a shock either. Gemma busting out of jail, was a twist. I kinda wish she hadn't done that. Unser turning his back on the club, well, I didn't see that coming, although the signs had pointed towards it. All in all though, my favorite part was either the Hospital Admin backing up Tara (that was a great performance,) or Tig leading the "P I G G I E S" (his words, not mine) on a wild goose chase. I was laughing the whole time as he was screaming at them while tearing up the roads. I am sad that he won't be in Ireland, but he will be in Charming when the former Calderon pres comes to start things, which will be a great thing.
  6. I got a good chuckle out of that.
  7. I still haven't completed Fallout 3. I gave up on the story line, which was decent enough, and just roam the countryside doing all the side quests. The game is fantastic. I don't even have all the expansions to it. I would like them, but I am not made of money. I have about 5 or 6 games right now that I am in the middle of. Red Dead: Redemption, Bioshock II, GTA:IV, Fallout 3, Forza III and it seems there might be another. I might go a month at a time without playing, then spend an entire weekend plugged in. Oh, Left 4 Dead 2, which I have beat on single player, I just can't ever find a regular group to play on XBL with. This is of course taking into account that I can get my wife and daughter off of the XBOX and XBL (thank you Netflix) long enough to play anything.
  8. We don't have an Academy in Knoxville.
  9. Texas Roadhouse all the way. Although some may not share it, my opinion is that they have the best steaks in Knoxvegas. Hands down. And this is including Regas and Ye Olde Steak House. Now, something I have learned from my wife, did you write to the corporate office? If you were dissatisfied enough to come and tell us, you should also tell corporate. If you remember the server's name it would go even farther. You don't have to demand free food, or a reimbursement, but tell them you want an apology. Plus, they need to know that something like this is going on.
  10. There is the plain jane Mossberg 500, the Maverick 88, the Remington 870 and the NEF Pardner Pump. In short, as long as it has a 3" chamber and an 18.5" barrel you are good to go. They are all modifiable with numerous options. I don't care for the safety on the Mossberg, it is a tang mounted. The rest all have the cross bar safety. The Maverick is a lower cost option to the Mossberg, and the NEF Pardner Pump is clone of the 870 with minor receiver differences. I have an NEF Pardner Pump. It is fine, and I haven't had any issues out of it after ~500 rounds. It ran my $200 OTD at Dicks a couple of years ago. The only thing I don't like about it is the finish. The bluing isn't that deep and the gun is prone to surface rust if you don't clean it religiously after use. Liberal use of oil helps. I have a buddy that bought the exact same gun at the exact same time, and he has never fired it. Still NIB and he has no rust issues. I have to attribute it to my less than anal cleaning.
  11. The last time I was pulled over was two or three years ago on The Tail of the Dragon. I was going 47MPH in a 35 Zone. I didn't even get blue lighted. The Deputy just pointed at me as he drive by and I pulled over. We exchanged pleasantries; the standard things "Do you know how fast you were going," "Do you know what the speed limit is up here?" "You understand why we are up here?" "So you are a local that grew up here huh?" In the end, I was let off with a warning, and the twenty cars I was leading across the mountain (yes, the Deputy had to park behind all twenty cars and walk up to where I was) were let go and had a great day. Now, the last time I was pulled over on I40 was about four years ago, I was heading West and at the Pellisippi onramp a car came barreling down at about 90MPH. I was doing 55MPH. I was in the right hand lane. The car had enough room to merge behind me, or hell, even the car behind me. Instead the car wanted in front of me, to the point of getting in the emergency lane to pass me. It was 3am in the morning, there were no cars on the road but me and the car behind me, a co worker. When the car got to the right side of me, in the emergency lane, I laid on the horn. Just in time to read Knox County Sheriff on the side. He immediately braked, fell in behind me and turned on the disco lights. I pulled over. When he got up to my window I spoke first. I told him in plain words, without profanity, that what he did was dangerous and wrong. I also explained that had he had some lights on, I would have moved over for him, realizing he was a LEO, however, he didn't. Just the headlights. He simply said "Have a good night and drive safe sir," went back to his car and drove on.
  12. Oh, and the fine on the ticket is the total cost, as long as you mail it in by whatever date is listed. If you miss that date, you will have to pay costs, which I think is another $75, and they will suspend your license until you get it paid and cleared.
  13. Eh, I drive a heavily modified sports car. I don't have much of an issue keeping it at 55MPH. Through the Gauntlet. At most, I will get up to 62MPH to pass slower traffic (ie the guys running 45MPH.) Most of the time that takes a little bit of a snap inside me though. I tend to get in the lane I need for where I am going (home is one lane, Freightliner is another) and stay there. If I get behind someone going 52MPH. Well, I go 52MPH. I just drive through there too much, in a car that is way to memorable to speed. Not the attention, or fees I want.
  14. Tara and Jax are both my least favorite characters, I have mentioned it before. I think the ensemble cast is more of what keeps me coming back. I love Tig, Bobby, Chibs and the other assorted bit players. The Clay/Jax drama, the Jax/Tara drama and the Jax/The rest of the MC drama is fun, but I still can't seem to associate with Jax. I don't think it is the character as much as it is the way Charlie Hunn portrays the character, and even then, I have to admit, he does a fairly decent job amongst some of the veterans on the cast. There is just something about him that is too stiff, the delivery of his lines are off. I can overlook his accent to a point, given that he is British. But some of his words are still to chopped, and he is trying to channel the Marlboro Man while being a Nike Biker. I like the stance he takes on some of the issues, and frankly the Tig/Jax drama in Season One/early Season Two was some of the best in the show. I just can't bring myself to like him as much as the rest of the characters. Tara, well, I warmed up to her this season. She finally went full on with the club. Again, the actress just seems... well, lost. When Tara and Gemma have their scenes, Katey Sagal just walks all over her. Her portrayal of Gemma has completely erased all memory of Peggy Bundy. She is hardcore. I like it. As for the way this season ends, I have a feeling we will have a lot more questions than we have the last two seasons, but I think it is being done right, they will answer enough to keep us coming back, and make us sit back in our collective chairs and go 'whoa, I didn't see that coming' at the same time. I don't think the Season Two cliff hanger will have anything on Season Three. Just speculating, I think Jax is gonna find out how John Teller really died. And I have the gut twist feeling it isn't gonna be how we all think. Well those of us that think Clay and Gemma did it. And then BAM! Season Three is over.
  15. Pay it and move on IMO. I drive 55MPH through the gauntlet. That is Lovell Road to 640, either direction. I drive it multiple times a day. I see no less than 10 LEOs in my trip from Western to Watt. It is just not worth the five minutes I would save to speed. Imagine the time lost for the ticket. However, that is not to say you were wrong. Well, other than speeding. I am not trying to imply you are a bad person. The point I am making is that the area is a revenue trap. However, quite often, as I am poking along, using my indicators and just enjoying my challenge of staying at 55MPH without the use of cruise (that is cheating you know; ) it irks me to no end when I am cut off, passed on both sides by folks doing 80MPH or better and watching everyone else on the road fail to signal a lane change. It is those moments that I smile when I see someone pulled over, especially if they passed me a few moments before at Mach 1. Not to gloat or imply that you are a bad person. And I mean that. I have gotten more than my fair share of speeding tickets. I just know better than to speed through the gauntlet. Talk to your insurance agent, see if they can help you on the fines, not so much the costs in town, but the hike in your insurance rates. A three hour course on the internet at $45 might seem harsh now, but over the course of the next couple of years, as you wait for the ticket to fall off, it could save you a heap. Especially if this was a rare event, and you don't expect to accumulate more points on your license.
  16. Remington Nylon 66 Mossberg 640T Iver Johnson Lil' Champ
  17. The porn star. The one from last season that kept toying with Tara.
  18. Then again the thing with Mo, she was awful tore up over Abel, but her ties to and fear of the IRA may have made her do it anyways, and her guilt is why she called Gemma, even though she may have stolen her son and man. It would explain the thing with the Belfast President being First Nine. I really want to see where this story arc goes, I know for a lot of folks, they aren't digging this arc, but being Irish, it fascinates me.
  19. Still here, busy with work. I am of the mind that Maurine, or her daughter are of relation to Jax. One thing that gets me, the heart defect, Gemma has it, and Thomas (I think that was the brother) died of it. But Jax seems fine. I am nearly certain that the daughter is at least Jax's half sister. The reason I am not willing to go to the full belief that Maurine, or Mo as they call her, is Jax's mother, well, I don't think she would have been so willing to give up the baby, which would have been her grandson. With Tara, I knew she was pregnant. That didn't come as a big shock. Jax straight up leaving her did, although they have built to it all season. It was nice to see Darby again. I despise him, good actor. Jax and Stahl. Wow. I don't even know how I feel about that, other than the firming of my belief that he is my least favorite character of the show. Stahl, god I love to hate her. It was nice to see Happy come back to the mother charter. I am not certain, I know he was a big part early in the first season, and he mentioned going Nomad, but they never made a deal of him leaving, which leads me to believe he was always (or had been for a while) Nomad. I wonder if Tig's position as Sergeant at Arms is in jeopardy, Happy is a one serious MFer. Tig is still my favorite character. The teasers for next week look awesome, but it looks like still another week out from Belfast. I am looking forward to that. This season will be over too quick, cause it is just ripping along.
  20. I own a Civil Gaurdia Model. I have had it for as long as I can remember. And to be completely honest, I have never shot it due to all the conflicting issues about .308 versus 7.62x51NATO and on and on. I have some .308 blanks, maybe I will shoot those in it to make myself feel special.
  21. If Knoxville isn't too far of a drive, we will have a position open as a loader on our night crew soon. It is case picking, so he has some experience at that. PM me for details.
  22. I am saddened to hear this and I am sorry for what you and your's are going through. It is a sad world we live in when a biological parent, and a loosely used word at that, would do something like this. I am PMed you as well to help put a stop to this on Facebook.
