Rep just for tracking good/bad sellers/buyers probably would work. The +1 -1 for just chat is of no value. About all the +1s do would help you ID subject experts, or at least have a starting point. -
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/15/business/a-kalashnikov-factory-in-russia-survives-on-sales-to-us-gun-owners.html?pagewanted=all They actually do know the difference between military assault rifles and sporting arms. This shows that the "mistakes" usually found in liberal papers is intentional.

Maybe. They certainly were not fighting to get the vote done, but that is not the same thing. Shady? Yes, the whole thing was. But that comes down to the meat of your question, does it not? Is any generic "R" better than a decade long A rating? Maybe, maybe not. I say no: if you want to vote them out, then do so, but be wary of the replacement, you could make it worse. If you just vote against her and take anyone that runs under the R umbrella, it very well could be a LOT worse --- people down here KNOW the RS are going to win and sometimes run as an R with only the most casual R viewpoints. Research the new person best you can and make a decision between them, based on how much you dislike the current one and how good the unknown one sounds....

Well --- the parking lot bill is a no-winner. Both sides (property rights vs gun rights) have valid things to say. Maggart (gone, hooray) blocking the vote was crap, but the back and forth and who picked what side.... I advise you to throw the one bill out and then review the history of the candidate without it due to the no win situation. Ms Harwell has an A rating with NRA and high ranks with other gun rights groups. If you discard the parkinglot bill, I was unable to find another instance of her being "anti-gun". Also, I am personally offended and aggravated with the religious morons, trying to make laws against religions is as bad as trying to ban guns. If your religion is to strap a bomb on and blow yourself up at the mall, that is already illegal and covered under a variety of laws. If you want to pray to the flying spaghetti monster 11 times a day while standing on your head, have at it.

New shooter and I'm horrible at it. Looking for training.
Jonnin replied to a topic in Training Discussions
Not sure what you mean... while not competition grade, the starter load data in any book will produce acceptable accuracy for a beginner. They do not have to be capable of all going through the same hole at 30 yards to be usable. When someone is talking that many rounds a week, its worth thinking about reloading, regardless of their skill level. Speaking of the round count.... if no one said it, slow down. Speed comes later. I often, even now after decades of it, shoot 1 or 2 rounds in 30+ seconds when going for accuracy. Also, those numbers mean some fatigue; I know I am about done after 100 rounds. Think about quality over quanity for learning the basics. -
I like him too. It does not matter unless mitt transfers control, though --- not likely. However if he can surf this to run in 4 or 8 on his own, that would be nice. I have yet to get to vote for a decent candidate outside a primary.... maybe, just maybe, someday... I think he uses one of these high capacity assault bows: http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/RobinHoodMultishot_9049

You are talking about a person (the criminal) who already thinks "yea, people get arrested for doing this stuff, but I am smarter/better/faster/whatever so I will get away with it. Besides, I need some crack now." How many thugs get arrested for basic stupidity, things like using their own car to get away, or robbing someone who knows them and where they live, or the like..... there is a level of stupid out there that is beyond comprehension. I mean, if they had any sense, they would steal something worthwhile, not someone's used TV or $100 in junk for a pawn shop.

Being a code monkey, I hacked a free library called namezu (I think, or very close to that) which will do an index on all the PDF files based off their content (text, not images, but your OCR scans would be sufficient). A little effort gave me a search engine for all the files on that PC, so we could quickly locate the related pdfs with a search. It was a pretty clean solution to the issue. Its just code so OS does not matter --- it was originally done by chinese or japanese for unix and I got it to work on windows after I got rid of its STD. (laugh. std is a file unix people include in their code to keep it from compiling on windows).

Run an internet search on the mosquito sometime.

keep us posted. Mine was bone dry out of the box, not a sign of any oil or grease or anything. Should make a huge difference. As a 1911 type, put a little something on the rails, the guide rod (where it rubs the barrel underside) and the top of the barrel (where it rubs the slide during a shot) at the very least. I dripped a tiny bit of oil into the trigger/hammer/action as well.

You only hope he is casing your house and not looking at your wife. Get HER out of there, or get some family to keep tabs on her. Also alert the police and ask for a patrol to swing by if possible for a few days.

I am getting close to 500 rounds with mine, at a rough count (I do not always count exactly, but its in the neighborhood). So far, the trigger has broken in pretty nicely. It still jams about one time in 50, maybe 1 in 25. I have had NO jams on hot ammo, only "target grade" commercial ammo. Naturally, that is just playing the odds: the hot ammo is pricy and 1/20 chance when you only shoot 50.... maybe it was just luck there but it seems like it just needs some hot ammo to break it in. I made some hot and it also worked 100% but I have not had time to make boxes and boxes of it yet. All that to say give it a 500 round break in and store it with the mags loaded to the max, and work the mags they also need some break in. See where it is after that. On day 1, first box, mine also jammed about once per mag. It steadily improved since then, and a breakdown + overlube followed by 3 boxes back to back did a lot.

Yea world would be a better place if either the 380 would drop to 9mm price or the makers would make 9x18 alternate for their 380s....

tell them they can refund your money or let you pass, their choice. They will let you pass.

its a 312 ish, with some margin of error due to both wear & tear and manufacturing variations. Probably take a 303 brit bullet for most of them, and those are not too hard to find? you might want to read here: http://forums.gunboards.com/forumdisplay.php?7-The-Sniper-Rifle-Forum to find out more from people who specialize in the area. Lots of mosins discussed across the threads, including one guy that has taken his to 1k yards and a couple who have gone to great effort to get tighter groups.

forget berdan primed stuff -- you can reload it but finding the primers is a BIG PAIN and getting them out is annoying as well. Just get some boxer brass, and if you treat it well it will last you many loadings per case. So while your initial box of ammo may cost a lot, the next 10+ boxes will only cost primers and powder and slugs --- probably less than most factory handgun rounds cost per shot. I think there is load data but its in that band of wwII era stuff that is all virtually a 30-06 give or take. I am pretty sure 30-06 data works, but to be on the safe side, cut it down to 75% and work back up?

Some POS Followed My Wife Home
Jonnin replied to Seabeejason's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nothing is foolproof and I certainly would not trust leaving a loaded gun of any sort in a room with a child and no supervision. I was just saying a gun that the child cannot lift nor point at himself nor easily operate the (pump, bolt, whatever) to chamber it is safer than a handgun which is easily lifted, easily pointed at oneself, and all too often, easy enough to operate. Safer, but still not exactly safe, if you will. -
I used to win dial in radio stuff, concenrt tickets, prizes, and such. One of the best was not even worth much, it was an ice-cream kit, you got 1/2 carton of your favorite, 4 fancy glass dishes, and about 10 cool toppings to play with. Value was like $20 tops, but that one was a load of fun (I think most of the toppings lasted out 3 or 4 cartons before we used it all up). Once won a AM/FM stereo system with (bunch of fancy features!!!). It turned out to be a "walkman" that was just a radio, no tape player even (pre CD days), value maybe $10. That was depressing and funny all at once, to win something that sounded so nice on paper and turning out to be junk. Over the years, I have won a lot of small prizes like those, never anything worth more than say $50 tops in todays dollars.

I cannot connect these things to age. Just sounds like you, and myself, are just somewhat introverted or downright antisocial. I do not mind talking on my job because its usually my boss and he wants to pay me to goof off, I am happy to oblige. But when some idiot calls me to ask me 20000 questions in hindu or whatever language it is, that makes me into mr. grouch in a hurry. However i am happy to chat on a forum all day. It just depends on the topic I guess, if I am bored, I want it and the person to go away, and online, I can control that. In person, its draining. I do not feel old. Everything still "works" and nothing really hurts often, just if I over-do it and that happened as a teenager too, anyone can stress their body. But now and again I have horrible realizations. Things like WWII vets .... kids that are born this year will probably never talk to one, for the most part. Things like being mailed about a 20 year HS reunion, it *can't* have been that long ago! Things like "you must have been born in 1991 to drink" startle me now and then. Basically I still feel like a teenager so these occasional reminders are unwelcome, I would rather not think about it for another 20 if that is OK....

Its impossible to say. 2 moa is not sufficient to make a clean kill at 300-400 yards, which was a long shot for that era snipers but they did make a few at those ranges. So in like new condition, I would hope for 1 moa and holding that out to at least 300 yards. That would be about the best you could hope for, if everything is absolutely the best it could be. 2, even 3 moa is probably realistic expectations for your rifle without doing some work on it to improve it. If it is worse than 3, you might start reading about DIY improvements (including trying it with and without the bayo, re-bedding the barrel, etc). You might work with the ammo as well, or just try a few types, sometimes a gun does not like a type of ammo and there is nothing to do about that. If you really want to know what it can do, you might try ditching the period scope in favor of a 10+ power scope -- that can help take the shooter out of the equation (its really hard to hit a 1 inch group at 100 with what, a 3 power scope??). You can always put the old one back on it after you have determined what the rifle is capable of?

That was good to know. Most of the accidental clench scenarios seem to be moot for a typical joe with a HCP : if you have your gun out, you have a threat, and if you are punching someone or jumping or being kicked, a AD is bad but hey, you were going to shoot the guy anyway most likely, if the gun is pointed safely at the bad guy, no real harm done. Where this seems to be critical is training/action sports/ LEO duties/ etc where you might have a loaded gun with no threat present while doing these things. In those cases, this is really important info. I knew you could clench but not how many triggers there are for it, I am going to try some of these out to see for myself and practice a safer hold.

Oh, the spreadsheet will be off. Like for me, I listed .22 but.. that is 2 bolt actions, 1 lever, 2 10-22s, a browing auto, a single-six, a pocket S&W, cz kadet, 22-45, taurus revolver, more off the top of my head. I listed 45 acp but that is 2 1911s and a DA. Etc. I forget the exact headcount but a few calibers across many, many firearms.... other folks probably did the same (caliber but not headcount). Hmm at least 5 9mms. My .22s are the most represented, easily 1/2 the collection is in 22 lr.

18 is fine. If you can be drafted to go to war or star in an adult movie and operate a more dangerous device (a car!) then you can have a freaking gun too. Legally? It seems to be OK to have one at 18; there are even a mentions of having them younger if supervised (such as hunting).
