depends on how bad they need soldiers. If you can't shoot, maybe you can run a PC to control a drone or something. If things are bad enough, able-bodied could just mean "alive". Still, however broad or narrow, its one way to define the militia. And a lot less stressful than trying to join a bunch of bubba's out in the woods waiting for the flamable tear gas.

Yes, I am in a militia. The united states one. Probably, you are in it too: it is every able bodied person who could become a soldier if the need arises.

the word is suspect. Not having an account is suspect. When the folks at forbes cannot even speak english as well as guys in a third world country, you know there is a problem.

Las Vegas billboard with dummy on noose startles drivers
Jonnin replied to plank white's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There are limits. If this thing is causing many traffic problems, confused 911 calls, traffic accidents, or other safety concern, it should be removed. If not, leave it alone. If nutjobs are allowed to show pictures of real bloody dead babies, a hung maniquin is nothing to worry about apart from any safety concerns. -
I like the shield a lot better than I thought I would. It is a very good design. I do not care for the regular M&P line very much, and expected more of the same. Its better than the regular M&Ps to me, and had I known that, I would have it instead of that nano.

People repeatedly ask me why I do not have a FB account.... ^^^^^^ that is why. I would feel inclined to post what I think, and that would become public, and someone who disagrees would find a way to screw me.

Some POS Followed My Wife Home
Jonnin replied to Seabeejason's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Stay alert for a month though, if he is going to be back, it will be within a few weeks. -
which points back up, its very like the makarov. I love my mak but its da/sa and heavy (good, tames recoil). The double stacks have a good grip if thin is bad... I like the bersa but for the same $$ a mak is basically the same thing in a cheaper caliber & probably cheaper pistol.

got a shotgun? Its really hard to shoot yourself with a long gun as a small child, and generally safer IMHO if little hands are around. -
you can one size up to a number of 1911ish micros. The new sig 938 is a little bigger than the 380 in 9mm. Colt has one (2 sorta, same frame), the defender/something frame. Para has a couple (or had??). . Kimber has 2 or 3 carry sized 1911s, maybe more. These are all 9mm 1911 style small framed guns, but bigger than the 238. The para is a double stack, so it will have a wider grip in a small package. The colt may be as well, I forget, but those will get you started.

just poke around.... currently this guy in hawaii has AQ which is an A with no voting record. And if you dig more you find a R in another state with a D. Antonio Gimbernat (D) Grade: AQ Status: Candidate This just has upcoming elections but it is easy to use http://www.nrapvf.org/

Singer Randy Travis Arrested For DWI, Threatening Trooper

Probably be a career booster. A little time and he can sing about it afterwards. -
taurus 94 (all steel version!) has done really well for us for a low price tag. You can get a set of inexpensive factory or identical to factory pink rubber grips for it --- my wife did this and I think it was $20 for the grips. Comes in a 2 or 4 inch barrel IIRC, holds 8 or 9 I forget which.

new rifle. what is your process for developing a load?
Jonnin replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would try a few brands of factory -- gives you some brass to work with, lets you try out a few bullet weights, excecises the rifle for any break-in and any problems (unlikely, but anything can have issues). Whichever of those seemed to do the best, start in the neighborhood of that load and go from there. If you want to start with handloads from the first shot, do the same things, try a few different bullet types and pick the best one to build from, but I would still make a box or 2 of "generic" loads to run through it to test function before even looking at where they landed. -
Obamney 2012, whichever one wins is what we get. And personally, I think Obama is going to win it. Mitt has no personality and his best slogan is "at least I am not obama". Mit is competing with biden for open mouth, insert foot one liners as we head into the last couple of months. If Mitt's VP pick does not stir up some excitement, I think he will lose it.

I can tell you that atlanta did well by it... cleaned out a big section of ghetto next to GA tech, tore down some dorms that had been there since like 1940, and got all new facilities for the school and area, a huge improvement. GT really needed the new dorms and to push the ghetto back away from the students; we had bums and thugs and shootings going on within a half mile of campus before they razed the area and rebuilt. The ghetto remains of course but I think the students are safer now with an extra mile or so buffer zone.

I am just glad phelps is done. There are thousands of other people doing other sports that people might like to hear about, if only for a moment (nothing against the guy, but the all phelps news network and internet was a wee bit much coverage no matter how good he is). Did they even mention or show a single shooting event? I think they had an airsoft event and skeet at least? Allowing pro basketball players, pro tennis players, etc ruins it for me. It is supposed to not be pros but there they are, coming out on top. I kind of like the age limit they were talking about to put an end to some of that. All in all I lost interest in them after watching my first and last one (the atlanta games). Hype this sport, ignore that one. Hype this player, ignore dozens more. Put the olympic logo on everything from beer cans to TP to sell it. It has become like christmas.... commercialized, hyped, and a cheap imitation of what it supposed to be.

New shooter and I'm horrible at it. Looking for training.
Jonnin replied to a topic in Training Discussions
I am using cast *BUT* they are hardened cast and I can and have used them in poly barrels without buildup. Soft lead and poly (glocks, couple others) does not mix! Copper jacket adds to the price in a hurry, so I would try the hard lead first if the goal is to save money. I also use a lighter bullet: the less lead, the less it costs each and the more will fit in a fixed rate postal box to ship. -
it would appear they are using a facebook page to pass around the stages and info and have half (or mostly?) abandoned the rangeissafe website. Not having a facebook account, I cannot get at it or link it at you ... someone may know. They also email the stages & scores so I have that stuff. If FB has a search you might try to find it.

update: the p238 plastic clip/retention "holster" does NOT fit the 938. The 9 is too wide for it even with the retention screw totally removed. The 9 is plenty accurate for me, I cut the x ring out of a man target with mine at 10 yards shooting very slowly of course. Supposedly sig tests its pistols to be 2 inch or better group at some few yards (15, 20? I forget), and I think it can meet that metric. I have mid-small hands and it fits mine OK (good but nothing to cheer about), it may frustrate larger handed folks. The recoil is certainly on the high side of medium, and a box of 50 shot fast left me with a stinging hand. I like the extended mag too, big difference even for my hands, but when I carry I will use the flush mag for better fit in pocket. I also like the emp and came close to getting one, but never did. Still may one day. Also, my trigger has broken in nicely with about 500 rounds thru it now. It still FTF about 1 in 50, trying to figure out if its the mag, the ammo, LW from too much shooting it, or what. I took it 150 rounds without cleaning and it does not seem to get any worse for a little soot.

http://www.wrcbtv.com/story/19217833/chattanooga-city-council-takes-up-colored-gun-issue All of a sudden, after decades of selling them, pink or whatever colored guns are a big deal?! Suddenly cops can't tell the difference and kids are suddenly acquiring them and mistaking them for toys?? Nothing even seems to have happened, no incident of a kid with one, no incident of a cop going "duhhhh" for too long. Its just a random act of stupidity from someone who happened to see one for sale.

will do but I am not going to lug your extra lead ingots for ya.

they are active. Its $10 to play. You can use just about anything --- they allow .22 rilfes for example --- if you do not yet have a set of gear or just want to try it out. PM me your email and I can forward you the course of fire and a contact who can tell you more. I am looking to sit out one more month before I go again, just too darn hot to be outside for that long. If the end of the world as we know it comes in the summer, I am going to go take over canada.
