its funny, but it isn't... couple ppl been killed by those things, when the recoil flips it and they pull the trigger a second time as it aligns to their face.... its not a gun to play with (as if any are, but you can one hand smaller stuff safely without experience, a 500 mag isn't a good pick for it)

anything signed by someone famous has some value to someone. What that value is? Its hard to say. Its also an investment ... someday he will be dead and it will be worth more. It also depends on how many he signed. You can still get, what is it, Picasso paintings for like $50 or something because he made like 1000000000000 of them.

pretty much the same ... most (all unmodified?) DA/SA have a bit of wiggle in the SA pull. High powers are nice. Pricey? Maybe just the old ones, I don't know?

cz75 is a solid pick. They come in lots of flavors. Like many DA/SA it has a somewhat wiggly SA trigger, typical of the style. Extremely accurate. Wife has a clone as well, and its money very well spent, the eaa witness family, also very accurate and well made. RIA 1911 in 9mm is a nice target gun. beretta 92 is similar to the cz. ruger p series are inexpensive, well made. there are literally a couple of thousand more models... care to narrow it down beyond "not a glock" ? Some sort of 38/357/9mm revolver can be fun.

which didn't last long. Then came the hundreds of things not to do in Leviticus ....

Before that, I would have to sign it as the almighty...

Ukraine might have been nuked, video inside.
Jonnin replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in General Chat
some of the other bombs make a mushroom cloud. It does not have to be a nuke. And FWIW the conventional weapons of TODAY are on par with the hiroshima nuke in power, so the difference is simply lack of radiation -- the destruction is as bad. It could have been a nuke. Or not. -
just another leftist, not much to tell. Very vocal about being a libtard, and has said some very uncomplimentary things about conservatives/southerners/others. Basically, a jerk. A whiny one.

I pocket carry the sig and love it. The glock will not fit in my pocket correctly. The sig isn't for everyone, but it suits me well. For its size, recoil is mild, and for its size, its one of few that do not have a 20 pound trigger. The glock is not in the same size/capacity/etc category... apples and oranges. Its hard to favorably compare then if you are willing to haul a bigger gun around, the bigger gun holds more... the shield is also nice. I got the sig, but I would take either. That is more of a fair comparison.

They were punished. First by being shot. Then later child services will see if they are fit to have kids. A bit later they might lose their carry permits or something for a period. After all the stuff settles they will either sell all their guns and never fool with it again ( a pity, but, maybe for the best) or they will never, ever forget that day.

the few slam fires I have seen were questionable... was finger on trigger when slide let go? Im not sure I have seen one from slide alone. I wont say its impossible, but no, I have not seen one that I am 100% sure was triggerless. I am not one of those who has to see it in person to believe it happens, but its not common. Ive seen countless thousands of slide racks. The rest of those don't count for functioning, modern, unmodified, and no trigger pulled.

Just people being people, unfortunately. Casual meanness -- you see this in a lot of people ... let me swerve to hit that thing in the road, hey a bird ill shoot at it, an animal, lets kill it.... there are people that kill just for the joy of it, and don't eat ANY of the animal.

Agreed: gun safety rules are redundant by design so if you follow them all, they tend to prevent incidents. But there is absolutely no safety that can be taught to a kid under a certain age (varies a little from kid to kid, but under 6 is exponentially risky as age decreases). The only safety is prevent access to it. I have never seen a modern, functioning, unmodified, and properly cared for gun go off when the trigger was not pulled. Ever. And the number of actual incidents where it "just went off" can probably be counted on one hand over the course of a year, including antiques that have known defects that allow drop-fire or other mishaps. The majority of "it just went off" derps are caused by a trigger pull and the idiot is lying about it to the cops.

welcome! H&K is a great start !

they have made enough guns with enough problems to earn the rep. Yours and mine work. Ive seen others that can't go thru a mag without problems, and a couple that work 90% or so then jam now and then, etc. Mine works after new mags -- the ones that came with it were causing nonstop jams. My extractor broke first thing, but they got me another mailed in 2 or 3 days. Its a crapshoot if you buy a random used para, or if you do a little research, some years of production were better than others, they had a bad couple of years a while back, seems to be straightened out now (?).

We cut ours some time ago ... back when komkast decided that shows with thugs shooting people were ok but stores advertising guns to sell to honest people were not. We never replaced it... using netfix for old tv shows and occasional movie, or the web can supply either one as well. We never were much into TV ... so its no big loss. Using EPB now, which has been much better in every way.

the permit *requires* taking a class. So do that class first ... someone can point you to something in your area. It will cover the basics including shooting the gun a little under simple conditions.

all interest in the real world is compound. A straight savings account is compound interest. Bonds are probably a bit better. Beyond an account or bonds, you can look toward stocks or mutual funds. Or gold coins etc. Trying to play stocks yourself will lose money in a hurry. And the fees... eat the profits in a hurry. A buck a trade, buying shares of cheap high risk stocks... poof. Ask me how I know :) No offense but 250 bucks over 20 years.. it won't even double at todays rates. In a bank account, it might even go red ... the fees for the account might eat the interest and then some, and LOSE value. You need something simple .. bonds maybe. Or some nice item that appreciates... I had a guitar that doubled in value (over 20 years from 6k to 15K), for example... collectables can do that (all kinds of things). Gold is risky, but safe too... risky cause its been high for a while, safe cause its never worth zero. Odds are in 20 years a wad of gold will be worth more than it was today. another thing. If you put $10 away for the boy every month, after 1 year you would have 120 bucks. 2 years, 240. 20 years... 2400. Nothing (well, almost, there are the occasional crazy returns investments) you can do is going to help as much as putting a little with it every month over the long haul. And if the little is invested along the way, getting interest... that might become 3k, 4k in 20 years...

Handguns. You may NOT have a loaded rifle in the car. You can have a loaded rifle mag / empty rifle chamber in the car WITH a HCP. Hopefully this is still correct, stuff changes a bit. Yes, carry is carry in TN, need permit for loaded handguns unless hunting or on private property.

all I can say here is "maybe". You certainly face an issue if you, for example, have had significant martial arts training and kill someone in "self defense" while brawling. The whole "registered as a weapon" thing (if that still exists??). The problem is that when you can kill with your bare hands, you should have enough skill to hold someone down, tie them in a knot, etc without killing them, when facing an untrained thug. And, due to your training, your life was not in danger --- you have the skill to avoid serious life threatening injury from some beered up idiot punching at you. Etc. But every scenario is different. What training? How was the enemy armed and what was he doing? Were you hurt? Bunch of details needed to say, and even then, gotta convince a jury that the heavy handed force was justified .... same as shooting someone. I dunno. But I suspect if it came out that you had extensive training and skill vs an untrained and (not armed with a gun) moron, and you killed or maimed him, you would have some questions to answer big time.

what you are asking is if you can break the law. Yes, you can. This goes back to those same ideas about dumb mistakes made in youth (or whenever). You might get away with it. We do not advocate breaking the law on this forum ... if you want to play that game, you have to be ready to suffer any punishments that fall your way if you are caught. Just like the DUI... consequences. I strongly advise against breaking the law, but you certainly "can". In this case, I think you just get denied and no real harm done. But in the worst case, you knowingly get your permit and they find out about it later... and come calling. What happens then? I don't have a clue. But it can't be good.

I thought the police in the police state had guns? The real question is why their uber, crime stopping gun control didn't stop those guys from getting guns. None of this makes any sense .... the bad guys can't get guns when you have gun control. And the police should have machine guns to keep the rabble in line. Somewhere, someone dropped the ball .... I mean I know its the French, but when you can't even figure out how to run a police state, which is easy (compared to a country where people can resist or vote against you or give you bad press etc) its really and truly a lost cause.

Oopsie ... Smokeless Instead of Black Powder
Jonnin replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I have to think that you *could* use any powder and get it to safely chuck the bullet out the muzzle, if you got the charge right. But he used enough to load a 30-06 or something. -
Single action revolvers for carry purposes?
Jonnin replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
some of the smaller caliber SAs with a gate can be turned to expose 2 at a time. But not on the bigger stuff, would have to be 22, or something else pretty small. You see it particularly on the highcap .22s (9 and 10 round cylinder stuff). -
Single action revolvers for carry purposes?
Jonnin replied to suspiciousmind's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Nothing wrong with it, but it takes a great deal of practice to make it look good like the competition shooters do. A friend of mine's dad won a small local contest with a henry lever gun too, but that doesn't mean we should replace the AR with lever guns, it just means practice can overcome the limitations somewhat. If I had to use a SA revolver my uberti 45 breaktop would be fine. Reloads faster than most revolvers, of any type.
