  1. I had one years ago. Great all around caliber. I used 130 gr ammo in mine ( reloads). Never had a deer get up & call time out.
  2. Not doubt they were. But if you go hunting Africa big game with a 22 LR, bad things happen.
  3. What makes you think that? Field was a non factor.
  4. On the brighter side for Vandy , they improved quite a bit this season in Lea's 2nd year. They really need to find a versatile QB.
  5. To be honest , I was expecting a better showing from Vandy. One of the many reasons I don't bet on sports . Vandy just could never keep a drive going. Going for it on 4th down early in the game , deep in your own territory kinda set the tone.
  6. Me thinks UT may pull thos this one out .

Not sure either on the 22 origin, but think Savage bought out Steven's at some point. Lot of name changes back then, not to mention all the hardware store, etc that had their own name on them. Google says Steven's introduced the 22 as we know it today. 22 short. Others were involved in the long & long rifle.
  8. Tell him to go for it. Good past time.
  9. He's almost a year older than me, & I can't do it . Glad he's still in that good health. Hope it continues for many more. Good shot too.

Stevens Crack Shot, 22/Short, Long, LR. Lot of squirrels, rabbits met their fate with that little rifle. Sadly, it met it's fate in a house fire.
  11. Sure didn't look good. We'll see later after the docs get a look.
  12. Greg, it came with a nice rubber pad, but after around 15 rds, it's time to lay it down. It's definitely a thumper. Still fun tho....sort of.
  13. Guess I should have said, my first with the 45/70.
  14. Congrats . Vandy did it again. 2 SEC wins in a row . And I hope UT don't take 'em for granted. That'll get you beat. Could be one heck of a game .
  15. That it does . Using my reloads , 300gr Hornady JHP.
  16. Killed my first deer this am about 7:15. Had 4 pts + 2 smaller points, not quite 1". One shot & he dropped like a puppet with his strings cut. A 45/70 don't mess around. This was a very healthy deer * & heavy. My bud had to take his John Deere tractor with hay fork to load it on the tailgate.
  17. I bought an old WWII Jeep from them back in the 70's. Even had a bullet hole in the passenger's side.
