Interesting read about gang infiltration into the U.S. armed forces and weapons control (or lack thereof). Equally interesting comments following. I did not know there was a National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC). Military Weapons in Gangsters' Hands

On a menu in China dog is listed as "Fragrant Meat". You can buy dogs in a market by the pound there, just like hamburger here.

Mr. Brooks - I salute you, sir, and greatly appreciate what you do. God Bless you and yours. I'm sure they are so happy to have you back for Christmas. Very best regards.

Prayers for Sgt. Cooley and his family as well as all those Law Enforcement Officers who put it on the line everyday. We don't thank you enough.

Welcome Evan. Glad you're here.

Just so that I understand correctly, you paid $14.99 per pack in the store and they are $54.99 for a 2-pack online? If so, that's a very good deal.

The cyber attack is increasingly worrisome to me. Our electrical grid, financial system, almost anything important to our safety and security you can imagine, is tied to "the network". Foreign countries have been "attacking" us for years and getting bolder all the time. Reports of attacks on the DoD networks are almost daily. Even if a foreign power did not want to overtake/conquer us, it would be a great blow to the U.S. if an effective cyper attack was successful. The impact could be severe. All the more reason to be prepared.

I love(d) my Kindle as I travel ALOT and it was great due to its size. Long battery life, non glare screen, etc. However, I left it on a plane about two months ago. Never heard from anyone as I had left it open with my first name and phone number available. Luckily, I remembered to disable my credit card for downloads. I am now considering an Ipad2 or the new Kindle Fire.

The 14th ranked team in the country only scoring 14 on the lowly Vols does not seem to indicate superior coaching. if he was such a great coach, why didn't he win a super bowl?

Prayers for your friends. May God comfort them.

Amen, Chief. May God bless them and comfort their loved ones. My sincere thanks to you for your service along with all others who serve and work to defend our nation.

What are the chances Tennessee stuns LSU on Saturday
Spook replied to ls3_kid's topic in General Chat
It is good to go and cheer for your team as long as you have reasonable expectations. That said, it could be very ugly. Myles wants to keep his BCS standing so don't look for any mercy on the scoreboard. Agree that no way Dooley is on a hot seat. He just needs a couple of years to recruit some top-level talent. The Vols will be back. -
what is on your adult beverage menu for the evening?

A bottle of Arrington Petit Noir. Just offered and not too bad. -
Here's an articulate case made for why Al-Alwaki was a valid target. Don't Cry Over Terrorist Awlaki's Death - Investors.com

Best in the area is Terry Walden, a former LEO who now has an outdoor range. He is also a gunsmith and all-around great guy. If he's not there when you come to shoot just leave your money in the mailbox on the front porch of his office/store. Map in this link. Seems to me to be a very long stretch to compare you/us to an avowed terrorist. These weren't unjust accusations against Awlaki. If you haven't done anything illegal then you shouldn't have anything to worry about, don't you think?

For all those who question whacking this guy - Where have you been since he and at least one other American born guy was put on the Agency's "Kill or Capture" list? That has been well over a year IIRC and very well publicized. Was that ok? If so, why? If not, I wonder why all the sudden rush to protect their questionable "rights". This in no way puts us on any road to anarchy, dictatorship, etc. If we had the gumption to really go to war with those who want us all killed we would have ended this long ago. Imho, of course.

Crimson - I am not sure if he legally was a "citizen" or not. To my knowledge one must submit the proper document to the U.S. government and I don't know if he did that. I said he denounced his country, not his citizenship. Again, to me irrelevant. And, I wonder if he would have wanted any of our rights. Apparently not, based on his actions. I truly believe in our constitution as much as you or anyone. However, in this case he was an enemy of my country and the action taken was justified.

Al-Awlaki had renounced his country and had devoted himself to destroying it. He was responsible for helping plan terrorist acts that killed Americans. What kinda rights do you think he should have? Personally, I extend him none.

Where were you on the morning of September 11, 2001?
Spook replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I was in my office in Northern Virginia. There were other sites near the Pentagon that were considered targets so we were sent home. I was scheduled to fly to Los Angeles the next day on the same flight that hit the Pentagon. My mother thought it was that day and was frantic trying to reach me but phone service was overloaded for a while. I told my colleague at the time that our way of life had just changed. I remember finding it so hard to believe (sometimes still) that the two World Trade Center towers no longer exist. The stories of bravery that day continue to inspire me. -
TBB - Welcome Home. Glad you are safely back. Thanks for your service to your country.

Sincere condolences to you and your family.
