  1. Steelharp

    Steyr M9A1

Got one in, interesting piece. Really low bore axis, different sights. Any experience with them?
  2. Shield prices are pretty low right now I would think an additional $50 off might help some folks.
  3. What is the highest round count that you guys have seen from a pistol chambered in .40S&W ? A certain trainer in middle Tennessee says in one of his videos that pistols chambered in this caliber will beat themselves to death because of the high pressures. I had a Glock 22 Gen 2 and had at least 8,000 rds through it and had no signs of destruction other than natural wear and tear. Any thoughts ?
  4. .......who is good at trigger jobs on S&W revolvers? Specifically a 638 snubnose. Any ideas on cost?
  5. Has anyone gotten the new Springfield Hellcat yet?
  6. I think Remington is trying to make up for the FUBAR they made with the jam o matic they came out with, and consequently recalled a while back. A couple of weeks ago I got one, just because I like pain. Turned out to be a great gun. Full sized [and then some]. 2-19 round [ metal ] mags come with the gun. If you get a chance to fondle one check it out. I"m getting another one. Price, $239.00 + $20.00 shipping. Mine has only hick upped in the 400 rounds I've put through it.
  7. .....carry in a S&W Airweight snubnose? Can't be +P. Thanks for any recommendations.
  8. So…I was thinking about .22LR Semi-Auto Rimfire target gun. (I already have a 617 Revolver). I’m a Smith & Wesson Fanboy so I thought I would try a Victory. But the barrel isn’t long enough, I thought they would have a longer version out by know, but it hasn’t happened. They also seem to be having a lot of feeding problems posted on the S&W forums I use. So, I started looking at others. The models I am comparing are the Smith & Wesson SW22 VICTORY Model: 10201, Browning Buck Mark Contour Model: 051508490, Ruger MARK IV COMPETITION Model: 40112, Smith & Wesson MODEL 41, Model: 130512 Let’s go ahead and kick the S&W Model 41 out of the running. I included it because it is the gun that owns this class. Hands down, I would love to have it; but I’m not putting over a grand in a rimfire. I’m not happy with reports I see on the Victory; but you know how that goes. You mainly hear from the people with problems, and I can find those for most of these guns if that’s what I’m looking for. I also don’t like that they don’t have a longer barrel version. The Ruger and the Browning look the best. They both have great reviews. The Browning is $100 less, I would assume that’s because it has an is aluminum receiver?? I’d be curious to know if anyone knows the accuracy difference between these two? I don’t care about suppressors and probably will never buy one unless the laws change. But I chose the threaded barrel on the Victory simply because it was an option. It isn’t an option on the others; and that’s fine, it’s not a deciding factor. What do you guys think of these? Should I be looking at others? Let’s discuss. And lets please keep this to semi-auto target rimfires; not rimfire copies of our Tupperware carry guns; that will be another thread. ************************************* Browning Buck Mark Contour Stainless URX, 7 1/4 (Barrel is Satinless, Receiver is Aluminum) Model: 051508490, Stainless, MSRP: $589.99, Barrel:7.25", Weight: 39 OZ, Height: unk, Length: 11.3", Width unk, Sight Rear: Pro-Target, Sight front: Pro-Target, Cap:10 https://www.browning.com/products/firearms/pistols/buck-mark-pistols/current-production/buck-mark-contour-stainless-urx-7.html Street: https://grabagun.com/browning-35206309.html $485 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/98379/browning+bm+cntr+stainless+22+725+urx $520 Ruger MARK IV™ COMPETITION, Model: 40112, Stainless, MSRP: $749, Barrel:6.88", Weight: 45.8 OZ, Height: 5.50", Length: 11.12", Width 1.75" Sight Rear: Adjustable, Sight front: Fixed, Cap:10 https://www.ruger.com/products/markIVCompetition/specSheets/40112.html Street: https://grabagun.com/ruger-mkiv-competition-22lr-6-88-ss.html $589 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/34252/ruger+mark+iv+competition+22+lr $613 Smith & Wesson SW22 VICTORY THREADED BARREL, Model: 10201, Stainless, MSRP $429, Barrel: 5.5", Weight 36.0 OZ,Height: unk, Length: 9.2", Width unk, Sight Rear: Adjustable Fiber Optic, Sight front: Green Fiber Optic, Cap:10 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/sw22-victory-threaded-barrel Street: https://grabagun.com/smith-and-wesson-sw22-victory-22lr-5-5-thread.html $329 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/5681/smith+%26+wesson+10201+victory+22+lr++55+10r+threaded+barrel+stainless+steel $324 Smith & Wesson MODEL 41, Model: 130512, Carbon Steel Blue, MSRP: $1369, Barrel:7", Weight: 44.8 OZ, Height: unk, Length: 12", Width unk Sight Rear: Adjustable, Sight front: Patridge, Cap:10 https://www.smith-wesson.com/firearms/model-41-0 Street: https://grabagun.com/s-w-41-7-22lr-blue.html $1119 (Out of Stock) https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/26195/s%26w+m41+10%2b1+22+lr++7" $1193 (Out of Stock) Beretta 87 Target, Model: J87T010, Frame: Aluminum Alloy black, Slide: Blue, MSRP: $1050, Barrel:5.9", Weight: 41 OZ, Height: 5.3, Length: 8.8", Width: 1.1", Sight Rear: Adjustable Target, Sight front: Interchangeable, Cap:10 http://www.beretta.com/en/87-target/ Street: https://grabagun.com/beretta-87-22lr-5-9-bl-2-10rd.html $928 https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/25754/Firearms/Handguns/Beretta/Beretta+87+Target+22+LR+5.9+Adj.+Sights+10+1
  9. I recently purchased a RIA Ultra 1911and have put 450 rounds through it to get it broke in. For the most part, the gun hasn't had any issues. There have been about 3 times where the gun seemed to go out of battery I think. The gun would fire and eject a round but once a new round was chambered, the gun would not fire. There was a round in the chamber and the hammer cocked back but it would not fire. The first 2 times I simply racked the slide to eject the round and put it back in the magazine and continued shooting. Today while shooting I had the same thing happen except that racking the slide would not extract the live round. I locked the slide back and used a cleaning rod to push the round out of the chamber and clear the gun. I wonder if I need to have a gunsmith do some work on it or hope that the issue resolves itself. Today I also had a round nosedive into the chamber and get stuck. I was using 200 grain Gold Dots. The first 400 rounds I have fed the gun have been 230 grain FMJs. I wanted to run some JHPs through it also to see how it handles them. I've read that I may need to get the feed ramp polished to help with that issue. Overall, the gun has been a joy to shoot and I haven't had many issues with the gun. I look forward to shooting it whenever I can. Being my first .45, the recoil isn't as bad as I thought. It's not any worse than my .40 Glock. The heavy frame helps absorb most of the kick. I just hope I can get the bugs worked out because I would like to carry the Rock as a EDC when desired. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to what I may need to do? Thanks.
  10. I have owned a bunch of handguns but the Shield is the first handgun I ever owned that had an ejector that wiggled. All my previous guns had ejectors that were fixed and did not move. I called S&W and they said it was made that way and other owners say that theirs wiggle too. My Shield runs great and is awesome , I have just never seen an ejector like this. Have you Shield owners noticed this on your ? Mine is a 9mm.
  11. A more carry-able carry gun. I have to hand it to them, did not rest on their laurels knowing the competition would respond. I personally am a huge fan of factory ported guns and am glad to see it. Sights would change your manual of arms potentially. Its interesting. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p365-sas.html?utm_campaign=P365SAS_LAUNCH&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Eloqua
  12. Out of the blue my Dad asked me for help to locate a Colt 1911 Government Model.45 for a friend. Particulars have been pretty limited so far. I am trying to get more details second hand. I have Googled looking for online retailers. I am not a 1911 expert, but I know a bit. Just difficult to narrow down search results with so many options in 1911s Anyone know anywhere that is better than others to find a deal on one? Thanks
  13. So, For my next handgun, I am pretty sure Ill get a Glock 19 Gen5, I have a GSSF certificate I plan on putting my usual Trigicon HD sites on it but also the Zev Pro magwell, as I am not a fan of the cutout on the Gen 5 19, and I love the look of it on an all black gun, I love my 19x with no finger grooves, so more than likely I will love the Gen 5 just wondering if any of you have put one together like this?
  14. For any who are hunting one, $579 and change. Salesman said they have one only.
  15. SA takes a shot across Sig's bow. 2 years later A huge 1 round increase in base mag capacity, but with an RDS variant available. https://www.springfield-armory.com/hellcat-features/ Some folks avoid SA due to their moves a couple years back, wonder if this will matter for them. One thing seems clear, if you own one of the new Dodge same name cars....here you go.

  17. It appears that Colt is making a new King Cobra model revolver. I saw an ad in Guns & Ammo magazine this past issue. Makes me giddy that they may reissue the Python and my fave...the Anaconda https://www.colt.com/detail-page/king-cobra-357
  18. I have 3 pistols chanbered in .357 Magum. I have 3 rifles chambered in .357 Magnum. I want a .357 Magnum semi-auto. I know, I know. Why not get a 10mm? Why not get a .40? Because I reload .357, have a ton of .357 ammo and don't want to introduce another caliber. I so eagerly want a .357 semi-auto carbine. If anyone else is interested in one of these conversions, please contact MechTech today and show your support. They won't build a conversion unless you ask. They are already doing conversions for other 1911s. I want them to build an upper for the Coonan 1911. Please show your support by contacting MechTech today: https://mechtechsys.com/Contact/tabid/6648/Default.aspx After contacting them, please share this post to other gun blogs so the interest can spread. I don't want to have to pay a gunsmith thousands of dollars to do this conversion for me. I wasn't quite sure whether to put this post in handguns or long guns forum. Technically, it's both.
  19. So I'm thinking of upgrading my carry from an gen 1 LCP to a micro 1911 (I like the platform and that's what I typically shoot). I understand for 1911s, we check the barrel to slide to frame fit and that's typically an indication of quality/accuracy. I've handled about 3 or 4 different Sig p938s and a Springfield 911 recently. And they are loose - lateral movement of the slide, able to press down and move the barrel, etc. Did I just happen upon poor representaion of these guns? They are just made with super loose fit to improve reliability? How accurate are these guns? Thank you!
  20. We were discussing this on another site and I wanted to bring it up here (again) so maybe…LPA or one of our American manufacturers gets the idea. I want these sights. But they don’t make them for the M&P’s….yet. They are made by LPA, an Italian Company, and sold by various companies here. Maybe one of our American companies will step up. I don’t know why anyone that is target shooting with open sights would want dots over these. But so be it… I just want a choice, everyone doesn’t need to use the same thing. I didn’t have to put a new trigger on the latest M&P carry gun I bought, so I can spend some money putting a good set of sights on it, for when I want to use it for target shooting. I understand why you may want dots on a carry gun (maybe, kinda, okay not at all, but that’s neither here nor there); but we aren’t talking carry guns....necessarily. White outlined sights with a red ramp that S&W used for decades would be great. We were told dots are better than these. Nothing could be farther from the truth. https://www.lpasights.com/en/ https://www.fusionfirearms.com/colt-series-80-1241

    CMMG Banshee 300

It has been quite a few years since I have posted anything. I honestly think I burned myself out shooting so much a few years back that I just walked away from the gun community altogether. I am slowly working my way back into it as time allows. That said, I went to a local gun show a few weeks ago and saw so many new things that I never knew existed. One of the things I saw that really made me smile was a CMMG Banshee 300 Mk 57. The FN Five Seven was my first handgun I ever purchased, and it is still one of my favorites. To have the 5.7 as a PDW on an AR platform was really cool. Does anyone have an familiarity with them or with the quality of CMMG? I am not all that familiar with them either. Thanks.
  22. Updated 02-05-20 https://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal-hst-law-enforcement-9mm-luger-ammo-147-grain-jacketed-hollow-point-p9hst2-p-3547.aspx Targetsports USA has both 9MM and 40 Federal HST in 50 round boxes for $20. No code, just add to cart. It's even free shipping if you buy a case.
  23. Anyone have one? I don’t have a .22 pistol for my M&P collection because I didn’t want the one made by Walther. I have been told that the M&P 22 Compact is being made by Smith & Wesson here. As this won’t be a carry gun I would rather have the full size; but it is what it is. So my question is this… My 617 is a K-frame. It’s the same as any other K-frame except it’s a .22. I don't see how this M&P 22 could be close to the same, as it’s about half the weight of my 40 Compact. (But its nearly the same cost) I wonder how it would compare to a Victory on accuracy?
  24. Guys, I have a request. I have a Model 624 44 Special, a pre-lock model, that a buddy has made an offer on, and I don't really where I sit on this. I've had it for quite a while. Of course a SS, 4" barrel, 3/4 underlug, original grips, adjustable rear sights and high front blade, no box, and in an easy 95% condition. S# H88_ _ _, can't find my S&W book tonight. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Oh, the offer...a Walther Q5. Used, with 3 mags. I like it, but do I love it?
