What’s the plan for these bikes, Rob? You gonna sell em and start over, or keep em a while, or what?

I plan on keeping these.

I'm hoping to save up enough to maybe pick up another project in the next couple of years, but these 2 will stay with me.

There are still a few things I have in mind for the Softail, as funds allow.

My wife wants me to get an ElectraGlide. I like the bike I have now. Would a touring bike really be that much more comfortable for her than the Fat Boy we’re riding now?

100 times so, yes.

It'd literally be like riding your couch down the road.

But.... there's always 'as well as' as opposed to 'instead of' 😉😁

There ain’t no “instead of”. The FatBoy stays. I’m keeping an eye out for a bargain on a bagger. We can try it out and then sell it once she discovers whatever’s wrong with it.😇

Well for god's sake don't go to a dealer####! They'll rob you inside out, then bend you over to stuff it back in!

You can see the kinda bikes I prefer. My opinion of the mobile recliners is.....unflattering. Non-complimentary, you could say. 😄

I’m with you. I’d drive a car if I were worried about comfort and storage, but if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.

I’m not buying anything at a dealership. Not even oil or a t shirt. They’re ridiculous.

See if you can rent one for a day or weekend before you buy. I bought an Ultra (though this was 15 or 20 years ago) and HATED it. The thing was a pig. I was worried about dropping it every time I had to turn it at very low speeds and it just wallowed in the high-speed stuff.  But to be fair, it was a very plush ride going in a straight line on a good road.

I've owned and enjoyed many Harleys, and I've got nothing against the brand, but I got rid of that particular bike after only five or six months. But I ride for the curvy bits, and that Ultra sucked in that environment.

I've owned a BMW R1200RT for ten or twelve years now, and I really like it. It's comfortable two-up, has a lot of storage space, and it's fast and nimble on the back roads. It's more a "sport tour" bike than a tourer. I recently sold my S1000RR sport bike and replaced it with an S1000XR, which so far seems to be the best bike I've ever ridden. Same engine block as the RR, very fast, but without the Ricky Racer riding position. It's good enough that I'm considering selling the RT.

Not a lot of love for Harley touring bikes here I see-lol.

Thats all I ride (on a trip). I can ride for days and days in comfort. Cant say that about any other bike I've had. I take the occasional trip out west to visit a buddy in Montana, and have done several back to back 800+ mile days.

But I have other bikes for the twisties and/or gravel and dirt.

One thing I'll say about my Road Glide Ultra-I put the quick detach kit on the tourpack for when I ride it alone, and without that weight up high on the bike it handles much better. I keep up with a buddy on his Honda FB6, which is a Goldwing without the rear trunk. I can either put the tourpack on for taking the wife, or just attach a backrest that I have.
