Strangest thing store sells, that you feel just doesn't seem to fit for the store.

You folks obsessed with death do know that family or whoever is entrusted can override your wishes in such matters after the fact, right?

Goes back to my comment on funeral laws in this state. They are powerful.

For the most part, my family believes in funerals should be cheap, if you want to do something nice for a person. Do it while they are a live, because after they are dead it is to late.

I know what I expect, I just don't know where since I figure the graveyard where move of my family is will be full. I figure I will be the first in a brand new Graveyard. I have a couple places in mind on some mountain tops.

how can they make them pay?

Damn, Mike. That was a fast turnaround from the turnaround you were trying to get us on.

Back to the on-off-on-off topic again: My granny says she won't be cremated because she thinks it would hurt too much!

I have a plan. With my dying breath, I'm just gonna set my liver on fire. By the time they get it put out, the cremation will be complete. ;)

thread derail is an understatement....

Anywho, how about Sushi at a gas station. Poplar and Ridgeway here in Memphis. They say the sushi is good and it very well might be, but it doesn't seem right to me.

Back on to the off topic-topic.....

Me & The Wife are both going to the Body Farm after we croak.

Everything gets to chow down on a bit of Robbie & science get's a helping hand (and all the other bits too) If they'll take me without all the good, donatable bits, so much the better.

Seems like a natural way to do it, seeing as it's illegal to just dump my carcass in the woods.

Interesting idea.

does the body farm keep you forever?

I had an uncle who donated his body to a medical school for research and whatever it is they do with cadavers. But when the school was done cutting and carving his wife got him back for disposal

All at once or piece at a time?

I would assume all at once, less whatever they removed and was not suitable for return. IIRC he was eventually burned up.

The reason I'm asking is because my mom and a friend of hers thought about donating their bodies to Vanderbilt, about 42 or so years ago. At the time, Vanderbilt was offering a rather large sum of money for the "donations".

In the end, they chickened out, after thinking about laying on a slab buck naked, for the world to see... and also because of a little apprehension that maybe Vanderbilt would decide they needed to collect a little early. ( Yes, they were both big chicken:poop:s about some things. )

I was hoping for a little more detail on your Uncle, so I could pass the info along to mom. :P

sorry Jamie, I do not know anymore about the donation thing.

I remember then thinking that it was wrong that his widow would have to deal with it all once again when the UC med school was done using him.

Yeah, that's a raw deal all the way 'round... You think you've dealt with something and got it behind you, then a couple of stooges surprise you with the fact you've gotta basically do it all over again.

Not nice at all.

Anyway, I did have to pick up the phone and pass the info along... and mom is certainly glad they didn't go through with it, all those years ago.

As far as I'm aware, the Body Farm leaves you out in the woods (or in a car, house, rolled up carpet etc...) until you're all gone. I know there are remains that've been there since it's outdoor research facilty was established in 1980.

I think it's kinda cool to ultimately go back to nature, naturally.
