Woman slams into Nixon's deli!

I just can't understand how people keep doing this. I understand your reaction time slows as you get older but how do you mistake the gas for the brake. And I'm sure she thought she was in reverse but how in the world did she not hit the brake as soon as the car started moving forward?

What's crazy is that I eat at this Nixon's at least once a week and I sit in the very booth that she crashed into. :up:

A woman finished her lunch today and then drove into Nixon's Deli in West Knoxville.

The incident occurred about 1 p.m. at the deli at 7419 Middlebrook Pike, according to the Knox County E-911 Center.

"A little lady got into her car after eating, hit the gas and ran into our building," said Missy Valentine, an employee of the deli.

"The whole car is in here. It took out both our glass windows."

The driver of the car, Rita Webber, 64, of Knoxville was not injured, and neither was anyone inside the deli.

Webber was not cited for any violations, according to Sgt. Chris McCarter.

"We'll be closed for a while," Valentine said.

A Knoxville police officer requested a building inspector to examine the structure to determine if it was still stable.

A 17 year old girl did that to a blockbuster in Baton Rouge. She hit the gas instead of the brake, freaked out when she realized she was going forward, and slammed her foot down, without realizing that it was still on the gas and once again, not the brake.

Sure would suck to get nixed at Nixon's... :D

And yep, folks do that all the time. There's one section of the Shoe Carnival in Bartlett that's been taken out at least three times. :shake:

Job security for me.

pretty sure you will always have job security in Memphis! :;

Or a Milsurp Sherman tank?

How about a motor scooter. Hard to take out a building and it's occupants on a Cushman.

OK, you lost me on that one.

Sorry, I guess I just assumed everyone had seen the Basil Marceaux videos where he claims if elected he would require everyone to own a gun. If some people can't control a car they certainly don't need to be in control of a gun. I'm just sayin'.
