Recommend a suppressor and dealer

Recommended Posts

I want to start the process of buying a suppressor for a future 300 blackout build. I have zero experience with them and am needing some input on manufacture and models. I'm not looking for anything super tactical. This will be used to hunt with and shoot paper and that's all.

I've done the searches and watched the youtube vids but can't really tell much about them. I understand some guys manufacture and sell their own but I don't know anyone personally. I need you guys to recommend the suppressors you like and who you recommend buying one from.

I went with a Wilson Combat 7.62 Whisper. Use it on a 6.8 and 223. It's the only suppressor that I have ever heard. I have had it for about four months now. I looked at the YHM QD Titanium for the value, looking to have it from now on, decided to spend a little more and get the Whisper. Always enjoy shooting with it especially after having to shoot with just the Wilson brake/ attachment extra loud and a lot of blast. I bought it through Wild River Ranch, sponsor on another forum. I have sense purchased a Hunter town Arms 22 suppressor through Silencer Shop, they keep you updated through emails on the status of your transfer. Good people good prices. The brake / attachment works well great hasn't ever shot loose but its another $90 dollars for each gun you put it on.

I've have been looking at the 300 BO also just because how well they are suppose to suppress. But gathering parts for a 223 for my daughter at the moment. Good luck with your search, it is worth the wait.

173....Mike said he was going to put some stuff together for me to look at, makes, models, prices, and such. He just hasn't got back with me yet. Before I buy I'd like to get some first hand testimonials.

digger...Thanks, going to look up the Whisper now.

If you plan on shooting cast bullets at all you need to get a suppressor you can take apart. That limits your options pretty significantly. I am building mine so I can take it apart.

As far as who to use it is a no brainer, Mike at Law Enforcement Sales. I have had him do a few things for me so far and it has been painless.

If you want to set up a trust for the suppressor purchase, let me know.  I'll be happy to help you with that process.  If you're looking for quietest package, the Liberty Suppressors Leonidas integral has posted some pretty impressive numbers.  It's on my wishlist.

I'm partial to the Liberty Mystic for an all around can.  It can take the 308 family as long as it is subsonic, the blackout and 223 / 5.56 if the barrel is long enough.  Just my 2 cents.

You are making your own suppressor?

I am not using it for supersonic ammo. My 300 Blackout is used to shoot subsonic 99% of the time.

I suspect there is a different dynamic going on too with the HUGE expansion chamber. That should reduce pressures some before anything makes it down the K baffles. And honestly how much of a difference would it make between M, Omega or cones vs K baffles. You still have the supersonic crack from the bullet which is still pretty loud.

If I was better at machining I would make the baffle stack a mono core but it is more than just drilling some holes in a rod.
