I kid I kid. I had a couple older superduty Fords (not bad trucks). Just had to say it before someone else did haha

Sorry I can't help you directly with your question on those years.

Not dissing the Ford and the 6.0, but my brother-in-law's 2010/11(?) King Ranch self-destructed at 22,000 or so miles. Quite literally the day after he traded it in for a new Raptor. The Sales MGR. inspected the truck, ok'ed the deal, and had it sold to another customer that afternoon. And no, there were no indications of problems with the truck, he just got tired of the diesel truck he bought to save money costing him more to run than the gas counterpart.

The King Ranch was hauled back to the dealership on a rollback the next day after selling with the bottom end dripping parts and fluids. I was in the truck numerous times and drove it as well. It never gave an indication of trouble...just decided to go boom on it's own.

And yes, there are good ones out there. This one wasn't one of them.

i have a 2004 f250 with the 6.0 so i know the 6.0 well.  if you are looking at a 6.0 you need to get a scan gauge to check the deltas between the oil temp and the water temp.  you want the temp different between the two under 15 degree when driving 55 on a level road for some time.  the lower the number the better.  closer to 15 and/or over 15 the motor will need work,, i.e.  coolant change, oil cooler, egr cooler, coolant filter, and possible other stuff.  also before i did anything i would check the coolant to see what color it is.  if it is the ford gold at those miles i would pass.  the ford gold coolant is what made the problem on the 6.0.  i don't know if this goes for the 6.4.

I work in the oilfield and we had been using Ford powestroke diesels and literally put 300K on them without turning a wrench. Then comes along the 6.0,and 5.4 Ford diesels. We keep our vehicles maintained change oil every 5K. Boss had 2006 F-350 125K, the last year we had it we spent $11,000 and it needed a set of heads $6,500. Every time we turned around 1 of them was in the shop and the repair bill would be $3,000 or more. If they signed the title over to me I wouldn't drive it home, put a for sale sign and sell it for anything over what the junk yard will give. I promise you you will regret it if you buy one. Just google up Ford diesel problems. To be honest unless you are pulling some heavy heavy loads get a good Chevy gas burner. I am thru with Fords, you can't imagine all the crap that breaks on them. I used to be a Ford man, not anymore. I wouldn't recommend one that is for sure. And btw if you get caught bypassing the egr and such you could be in for some serious fines.

I would say , please dont kill me, a dodge with the strait six cummings. Sure the transmission sucks, but my dads 01 2500 turbo is still strong with 37X,XXX miles later. Oh, and if you do get the powerstroke, get the turbo one. And CHIP IT. So much more POWER! And get a six speed. Much better than a crapmatic.

Im a chevy guy so i say chevy gas burner unless you are hauling or towing a bunch then dodge cummins 5.9l the 6.7l cummins has its own problems

I deeply regret selling my 1999 silverado with the 4.3..... That and chevy still cant make a worth a damn diesel. Dodge got it right by having cummins provide the 5.9. And not turning a 350 into a diesel.

well I have several superdutys 06,12,13 ,they all run fine the 06 with the 6.0 has 300 plus miles on it.6.0 [s a good engine if you change the oil cooled and do the egr delete mine is a srw 350 and gets about 20 miles per gallon.i had several 7.3s as well they were good too. the 6.7 in the newer ones are great my 12c has 77k on it I change the oil and fuel filters every 7500 miles .the fuel filter change is very important with the 6.0. to me the biggest drawback is the fuel filters on the newer fords hard to change and cost a lo

I have an '01 with the 7.3, crew cab, 4x4, short bed, Lariat. It has 225k on it. gets 16.5 in town and 18.5 on hwy running 85 to 90 mph. It will pull your house with you if you want. I have heard many people say the 6.0 is junk. I have had many offers for straight trade for trucks with the 6.0 with under 100k on them. No thanks.

You should also read up on the Ford death wobble.

I have experienced it in Super Duties, Dodge's and jeeps DW was way worse. It is like brass to the face, everyone knows it is happening, what fixes one doesn't fix another, some are fixed with tire balances, some with alignments, some with new tires, but some never get completely fixed.

I have an '03 F350 SRW 4x4 service truck with a 6.0 with 167,000 on it. We changed the coolant to the red ext life that we run in the big trucks and installed a coolant filter. Knock on wood no coolant related problems. I cut open the first coolant filter after changing it, full of black sand, read about it online, this casting sand is what they say causes a lot of the coolant issues.

I also run this stuff in the oil, https://www.revxoil.com/REV-X_High_Performance_Oil_Additive.aspx, our 6.0 was like new after adding this stuff to the oil. I am not usually one to buy into the additives but another 6.0 owner recommended it to us.
