BTW, I have changed my mind and I will NEVER own one of the newly released 9mm AKs. They have duped an entire community. They asked if there would be interest in a 9mm AK and EVERYONE asked about pricing. They said under $1,000 and probably under $900. Well they released them yesterday and they are nearly double that.

I see they are $1500-$1600.  That's ridiculous.  Must be gotta-have-the-new-toy-now sucker prices.  I'd be surprised if that didn't come down considerably in a few months.

For that you can have a proven design in the MP5. But I wanted something other than an MP5. I have a lot of trigger time on the MP5, a real FA, and I feel it is a bit outdated but still a good system. No way I would spend MP5 money on an unproven system.

If I had my way I would have a locked breech 9mm carbine so it would suppress well and not need all the extra weight.

I didn't post any of the video I've seen of it for this very reason. It's an insane msrp

Sorta like when Magpul developed the Masada concept, they said it would be around the $1500 price point and then Freedom Group got their mitts on it and renamed it the ACR...

The minute they(Atlantic) started spewing all of the crap about all of the custom work that had to be put in to engineer this AK I knew it was going to be a turd.  The Russians have been utilizing pistol caliber AK's for a LONG time and they didn't have to do any of that crap.  Since it is blowback all you really need is proper profile 9mm barrel and the ability to rig up a mag adapter.  I've seen several people/hobbyists do this in their garages with just the regular AK building tools.

According to Rob at AK Operator's Union he said that the Saiga 9's cost 1.5x of a conventional AKM. Dunno, never visited Russia myself... Just relaying what I read.
