Local availability of stroopwafels

Recommended Posts

I've been reading and hearing of stroopwafels and would like to try them. Anybody know where in middle Tennessee I might be able to find them? They are of Dutch origins.

As a person who cannot eat Gluten, I just want you to know you made my stomach sad. The picture alone is evil. I do still wish you luck in finding this ridiculously delicious looking confection. It is probably magical.

My wife makes a chocolate mousse torte by layering those waffles with bittersweet chocolate mousse.

You literally cannot eat more than about a half inch slice of it, but with some fresh whipped cream and a cup of coffee, its ridiculously good.

Well that sounds great too!!

But I had to settle for a Waffle House brunch instead. Wife went out and brought back waffles, hash browns, and plenty of maple syrup.

Good though, even if it wasn't a special layered and filled treat.

Waffle House makes the best pork chop in the restaurant business.

We have a tradition in our family that you may pick a restaurant where we'll eat as a family on your birthday. It's a treat, so within reason, about anything goes. Both of my girls consistently pick Waffle House.

I really don't know what to say to that. lol I mean, I like Waffle House too, but anyplace within reason. I think I might could come up with something else.

But hey, sounds like you've raised to very well adjusted and reasonable young ladies. Congratulations.

They're 8 and 6, so I expect it'll change at some point, but they sure love it now.

I haven't seen a Denny's in 15+ years! Waffle House is kinda like a Dollar General while Denny's is like Target.

They are prominent in Michigan South Dakota Indiana and Nebraska. We have until now never lived anywhere where there were Waffle Houses.

Thanks

I'm revealing myself here, but we had them in my home town in Michigan. I loved them! They had one in Nashville and a 7-11 but those went away fairly quickly after I arrived. I would kill for a slurpee!

Ok...I can agree with you on the desire for a Slurpee...but Denneys...nope.

Maybe it was just the Nashville location. but the service was poor and the food mediocre.

Guess that's why no local Denneys, at least that I know of.

We had Denny's growing up in Georgia. I got really sick after eating there one time, so I pretty much wrote them off.

When I was in grad school in Seattle, the Denny's up the street from my house had a bar. There were plenty of better options, but that place was always packed.

I can't imagine chasing too much booze with a Grand Slam breakfast, but to each their own I guess...

There,  Fixed that.

The absolute worst place I've ever attempted to eat was at a Waffle House in Columbia, SC.  I took a couple bites and had to leave.

Speak for yourself kind sir! There's nothing like a crispy waffle with sticky and sweet syrup from the awful Waffle! Sure, some are disgusting pits of toxic hell. However, there are a few "decent ones".

To the OP, if in Knoxville try world market at turkey creek. A lot of the cuisine I prepare is foreign and they often have the needed spices or ingredients I can't find elsewhere.

Nothing I couldn't prepare , even a gluten free version, but to get them in that design and that thin you'll need a press.
