SA Range Officer Compact -- 45acp or 9mm?

If you were going to purchase a Springfield Armory Range officer Compact, would you get it in 45acp or 9mm, and why would you choose that caliber?  Just want to pick the brains of you 1911 guys and gals... Thanks!

Ok I would go with the 9mm. Two reasons I carry the Professional daily. So I would not opt for the 45 acp. I am sure the 45 is nice but just wouldnt be my choice.
Next I did not realize how much 9mm Perfecta I acquired when they were on roll back.

Either way I think you will be happy. Edited by wcd

I have owned both 9mm and 45acp in the 1911 platform. I had both calibers in GI and commander size guns. The recoil is different IMO. The 45acp is more of a push and the 9mm is more of mussel flip. 9mm ammo is less expensive then 45acp. If you have old hands I would recommend 9mm, if not, go with the 45. If you already have a 9mm you may not want to add another caliber unless you want to. I know I really didn't answer your question because both are excellent calibers in the 1911. Just not for me because of hand problems.

If I'm gonna carry a 9, it'll be in an appropriate sized 9mm handgun. Wasting a lot of real estate and adding weight in the barrel. Anyone who wants to carry a single action 9mm, get a high power. Also, if I'm gonna carry a 1911, it's gonna be in 45 or 10mm.

The 9mm will carry 2 additional rounds compared to the 45 acp.  This wasn't a factor in my choice of the 9mm however.  I have several 45 pistols in this size.  The 9mm pistols I have were full size and subcompact.  The RO Compact fits my need for this size pistol in 9mm.
