  1. Are you looking for full, commander, or compact (Officer) sized 1911’s? 9mm or .45? Rock Island Armory offers all three sizes in both calibers for under $500. They are generally excellent pistols and a great value.

  2. Bumping this up to remind everyone that supporting this site actually costs money. But look at what we get, a place to argue about everything, and a nifty index of self-help threads when it comes times to renew. If you're not a benefactor, please consider becoming one, it's well worth the cost to keep this place humming. Also, @TGO David, for some reason, it processed my payment with my old address after declining it twice (didn't see where I could update my address). If it becomes an issue, or my bank cancels the transaction, just let me know how to fix it and I'll get the bill re-payed.

  3. Bump stock possession becomes illegal at midnight. Gotta destroy or turn 'em into ATF field office. (Well, better not turn them in now, you'd be in possession of something illegal when you do it!) - OS

  4. Much appreciated! There's a submenu that is kind of hard to navigate to. Here's a direct link to the page that lets you update your mailing and billing addresses: https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/clients/addresses/ Thanks again!

  5. A good 1911 for everyday carry is a Colt Defender, I have had one for the last 10 years and have not had a single issue with it. Plus it also comes in 9mm. New they are around $900.00 but I expect you could find a used one in the $600.00 range.

  6. A little info here, but on more expensive guns. Don’t know a lot about 9mm 1911’s but Springfield has some nice ones. The EMP Contour is a bobtail, it would be my choice. https://www.springfield-armory.com/1911-series/ Unfortunately it’s around $900 new, good luck. https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_search/Emp contour

  7. Is the fellow in this picture G. Gordon Liddy? He did have a thing for ladies with guns! I think I have most of his stacked and packed calendars he used to sell.

  9. Yes...I have lusted after that E Series Smith for a long while. Gorgeous pistol and shoots like a dream. Plus, the bobtail don't hurt it's looks!

  10. You told Springfield? I've had two EMPs that would not run until after going back to Springfield. This had nothing to do with 9mm and everything to do with tight chamber dimensions, for which Springfield 9mm 1911s are notorious. All the obsession with fully supported chambers is silly, but whatever. After Springfield opened up the chambers and cut the feed ramp slightly, they both ran like Glocks. I bought the second EMP years later with the suspicion that it would end up back at Springfield. Springfield customer service is great from my experience, but I don't understand why they don't properly cut the chamber before it leaves the factory. 9mm 1911s can be more dramatic, but this is usually a magazine issue. Dawson Precision or Chip McCormick mags usually solve the problem. The EMPs use a proprietary mag, but as stated above, the magazine wasn't the problem.

  12. Could be a Mileomo. This bird digs a hole in the ground to stick it's head in before it passes gas because you can hear it for a mileomo. My dad used to have me listen for them if we were out hunting, funny he always knew when one was digging a hole.
