  1. Well, after about 500 rds, my Sig Nitron still occassionally fails to go into full battery. RN, FMJ and still not 100%. Called Sig today. Very pleasant, helpful CS. Took down the info, emailed pre-paid shipping label for Fed-X and it's off to the factory. So far, so good. I have read where others have had issues; will keep you posted.
  2. Expected shooting steel plates or hitting other steel, rocks, etc. Have heard several 'zingers' at IDPA matches, and have seen shrapnel/jackets laying around at the shooting line many times. An excellent example of why EVERYONE on a live range should wear eye protection.
  3. Just hang the target upside down and fire-away. I think the range Nazi is full of
  4. I've shot quite a bit of clays. Have worn out a couple of locking bolts in Brownings, seen several others occur. Not that uncommon in O/U shotguns that are used extensively. Last one I had done was several hundred dollars at Walker Arms Co. Don't know what it would be for your situation.
  5. nothing like starting at the bottom and then workin' your way up to a 1911.
  6. Go on line and contact the Volunteer Rifle and Pistol Club. They have what you need.
  7. johnnin, gotta disagree with you on that. I routinely shoot 1911s and a MP9. Big difference in the blast and recoil, whether shooting or standing next to someone......both with tame loads. In fact, I would prefer to start new shooters with a .22. Develop the basics without recoil interference, cheap and can shoot a bunch. Once that comes together then move on to the 9.

  9. I have had two Hi Viz sights put on by two different 'smiths, two different guns. Both have shot loose, moving off center. The resetting has been done, and 'pinned'. So far no additional problems. Anybody else had this problem? Note one was a MP 9mm, the other XD 45.
  10. For a carry gun, if you go with the M&P, I would put in the Apex Duty Kit. I would advise against any lighter trigger pull. That's what I use in my Pro for IDPA. Just have the standard trigger set up in the other.......if you do wind up using your gun for SD, less explaining to do.
  11. I have a XD in 9 and 45.....2 M&P in 9, one is the Pro. Both are fine guns. The M&P is a little slimmer and most corners rounded. IMO would make a better EDC, plus is made here in the USA. Both shoot equally well. I do like the grip safety though on the XD. The M&P can be had with or without a thumb safety. You won't go wrong with either, just your preference.
  12. Shooting any gun of any caliber one session means nothing, especially in a HCP class. This is not the place to 'test' what gun you are going to carry. The whole process is mostly a joke........the class no more makes one an able, responsible gun-toting citizen anymore than it makes one an attorney practicing gun law.
  13. Probably does not matter to most folks anyway. This one trip will comprise the majority of the shooting they do for the year....or possibly ever.
  14. If all the business owners think that 'no guns allowed' is effective, why don't retail businesses just put up "NO SHOP LIFTING ALLOWED"
  15. Talk about needing gun control. The NYPD is a 'caution'. Personally, I prefer myself to 911. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news-national/20120907/US.Bronx.Robbery.Fatal.Shooting/
  16. nope, wouldn't sell reloads just because of Murphy's Law. But I might sell them a gun and throw in the ammo. Selling price is negotiable.
  17. There is a difference in buyers. Most on this forum have been around guns, bought and sold many guns. We are always looking for a new gun......whether we need one or not. And we will shop for the best price on-line or locally. Sometimes buying one just out of loyalty to the local gun shop. But the majority of guns are sold, IMO, to the impulse and/or unknowing guy or gal, especially those who know little and have shot little. Want proof, just hang out at the local Gander Mountain and see how many guns they sell at sky high pricing.
  18. Or for reman try : http://www.mastercast.net/mastercast.net/Remanufactured_Ammo_Retail_Sales.html
  19. I've always said if someone does not care about breaking God's law, why would they care about breaking man's law?
  20. Luke, I had the same question several years ago. My research and now my opinion is that you don't need to worry about it. The most common problem, and that is rare, is a broken extractor and that is most likely from a sticky case. With that said, I think most of that comes from a dirty chamber which is more likely with the steel cased/cheaper ammo. Just clean your gun routinely and fire away.
  21. Citizens Personal Revenue or our tax dollars are keeping them afloat http://pushbacknow.net/2012/07/12/79-of-gms-sales-last-month-was-government-purchased/
  22. times 2 Walk before you run. Just another reason to get proper instruction. Don't practice poor technique, and if you haven't been shown, it is hard to practice correctly. There is a saying that slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. You will meet some good folks at an IDPA match. Ask around for help, ask others who the right person is to help you. A lot of help is available just for the asking.
  23. Would be more appropriate for violent sex offenders, mass murderers, terrorists....etc.
