  1. I graduated in 2001. I probably got to see the tail end of things before it got absurd. We had an archery program in Jr high. We took mandatory hunter safety in 9th grade. I remember a class mate accidentally leaving his sks in the rifle rack one morning. Principal saw him as he pulled in, ran over to him and said "you forgot to put your rifle up, stick it behind the seat before anyone sees it." This was in Wilson County, we were a lot more rural then. Now my daughter is in the same system and things have changed. Guess that's what happens when people flock from liberal states to your area and then try to make things like they were back where they came from.
  2. I went and it was a great experience even though we didn't get in. I got in line at 3:30 and the line was a mile long. At 6:30 I was told by a MNPD officer that no one else was being let in, which was a not true. I was still about 4 blocks away so I went ahead and left. I saw only a hand full of protesters, they were mostly getting laughed at. The protesters were way too outnumbered to get rowdy. I will say that listening to Trump's speech on the radio it is refreshing to hear the president talk about doing great things. These last 8 years it seemed that every time the president spoke I was losing a right or having to pay a tax. I just hope that Trump gives his all to accomplish the things that he is setting out to do.
  3. I learned today that feeder goldfish from Petsmart are cheaper than minnows. More importantly I don't have to go nearly as far out of my way to get them. I know a lot of people like to use them for catfish, not sure how they work with crappie. If you go this route just don't turn your extras lose in the lake.
  4. I had a ridiculously hard time finding any mags for this gun. It's a double stacked 9mm "1911" I can't remember for sure but I believe the mags that I purchased are Rock Island mags. IIRC certain Para Ordinance mags will fit it as well but there isn't much available as it is somewhat of an oddball.
  5. I contacted Rock Island via email and they have already sent me a shipping label, no questions asked! 4-6 week turn around time. Anxious to see how it goes. I will try the magazine spring thing before I send it off though.
  6. I've tried three different mags. One came with the gun and I bought two more. IIRC they are all RIA mags, none have any markings on them. I tend to believe it has something to do with the ramp as well. I wouldn't have thought this issue would be normal, but it seems like the gun just isn't designed to run hollow points.
  7. http://s283.photobucket.com/user/GapTrash/media/20170301_214953_zpsd7v1eccm.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0. I picked this gun up a while ago and I've never gotten it right. It runs FMJs without a hiccup but it will not run anything flat nosed or hollow point. I've lightly polished the feed ramp with no success. Is there something I'm missing here or will this gun just not run anything but FMJ ammo?
  8. Gordon, what is or looking like regarding the legalities of someone like yourself building and selling suppressors? I'd like one and you would be my first choice as a builder.
  9. I worked at Sears for 5 years and don't have much good to say about them. I highly doubt they will be going out of business. For one they are making money hand over fist on their credit card. Management pushes store associates really hard to sell credit. Also Sears is a part of a large conglomerate of other stores and their losses are a write off for the conglomerate. It's also notable that the profits that are made off of credit is not counted as part of Sear's profits. As far as the tools go, back around 2010 they started producing hand tools in China. Customers were to be told that the reason was for"better value." I left the company shortly thereafter and never looked back. I could honestly care less if they go under, but I doubt they will.
  10. It's real simple. If you deprive me of my ability to protect my family from harm I will not enter and spend money in your establishment. The legality of the postings don't weigh into it for me, it's all about the intent. I'm not lacking on places to spend money, I'll go somewhere else.
  11. That is my slowest time of the year. For me it will be a little bit of sleeping in on the weekends. Chores in the yard, cleaning guns, respooling fishing reels, and whatever maintenance my boat needs to get it ready for the next year. Once mid March rolls around I'll start fishing again and won't have a free weekend between fishing and hunting until next January.
  12. How much data do you need? Straight Talk Wireless just released a 10 gig for $55 per month plan. If cell phones work good where you are this would be the ticket if you can live with 10 gigs per month. Just pick up one of their hot spots and you are good to go. Another plus to this is there are no contacts.
  13. There used to be this guy, went by the name Commsnbombs...
  14. I loathe it but I must go to where work sends me.
  15. $150k is a bunch, $60k is a bunch too. Guess it's a matter of perspective.
  16. I don't have near as much issue not being able to carry on a plane as I do not being able to carry when I land in Chicago. Only thugs can carry there.
  17. Just went through security at BNA. walking out of the security area and there is a BNA cop just standing there with an AR-15. The only problem that I have with this is that I can't take mine. Just thought it was a bit odd.
  18. Their position is nothing new and I promise Levis that they won't see my money. I'm a Wrangler guy when I wear jeans. Up until the last year that was daily. My new job doesn't allow jeans. I actually got a pair of 5.11 tactical pants a few months ago and I have found them to be much more comfortable and durable than jeans anyway. Plus I love having all of those pockets! They are a little bit pricier than Wranglers but still not as expensive as Levis. For years when I've seen a guy wearing Levis I've either figured that he doesn't pay attention, doesn't care, or he's just a sissy.
  19. I just try not to complain too much, it sets me apart from the crowd Seriously though I figure it's a minor issue for a $50 piece of equipment that is otherwise good. Just have to remember to check function.
  20. Dropped a lone doe yesterday evening. Very odd to see a lone doe at that spot, usually I come out of there with three at a time. Back at it in another spot now.
  21. I have a Wildgame Innovations from Dick's that I paid about $50 for. It's the only cam I've ever had. Quality of the photos is great. It doesn't seem to trigger past about 10 yards. Only complaint is that sometimes when I replace the card it doesn't take any pictures. I try to remember to test it when I replace the card. I've only had it for a few months but so far I have no complaints.
  22. I thought ANOTHER phone was biting the dust on me and losing color. I was seeing a flip phone in my future, other than that it's great!
  23. I've had the same thing happen, wasn't a pleasant experience even though it was determined that I was in the right.
