  1. Aaron's Outdoors. He's out of Old Hickory but I'm pretty sure he covers Clarksville. Top notch work and very competitive prices. 615-517-6830. My neighbor used Tennessee Landclearing to clear some growth a couple of years ago. They had a lot of difficulty understanding which trees to leave and which trees to take, even though the ones that they wanted to keep had flagging tape wrapped around the trunks. It sucks when they take down all of your oaks and leave you hackberries and cedars.
  2. That last paragraph "90% of the guns that are associated with crime have been sold by 5% of the gun dealers". Yeah, I'm going to need a reliable citation on that. I'd say with her attitude one thing that she might accomplish if she takes office is kicking off that next civil war.
  3. Update: HughD, if you look at that link that you posted from Midwest gun works, part number 6 is what I was inquiring about. That o-ring was going to cost me about $18 shipped. Not wanting to put that kind of money into a free gun that I really have not figured out what I'm going to use for, I made a gasket out of three layers of duct tape. It's working great now!
  4. I moved away from Maryville back to middle Tennessee in 2015. I haven't been back since, but I could see that it was starting to get that way. The difference in middle and east Tennessee is that I'm 40 miles out from town now. And although I'm in a rural area, it's quickly growing. It will be a long time before anyone is desperate enough to develop mountainous areas like they have developed what idea to be farm land here. As much as I hate the thought of a state income tax, had we put it in like they attempted back in 2000, we likely wouldn't be having these problems.
  5. I lived in Blount County for a few years and loved it. Spent a lot of time camping and fishing in the Citico area just down the road. Maryville has about everything that you need, yet you can be in some pretty remote areas within a 20 minute drive from town. We could still go over to highly commercialised Gatlinburg, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge area if my wife wanted to, but I preferred to stear clear. IMO the deer hunting is pretty terrible in that part of the state, as an avid outdoorsman it was a trade off to have a bunch of other outdoor opportunities.
  6. Been on a Tyler Childers kick for a week or so now.
  7. Do I not understand this correctly, or am I the only one bothered by the fact that the Knox County Sheriff's office is basically saying that they are disregarding the state law and making up their own rules.

    Latest CC Setup

I have a 642 circa 2006, the finish is awful. I did gently carry it daily for several years, but it looks like it's been drug behind a truck.
  9. I had an inoperable Winchester Ranger 140 in 20ga given to me. I disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled it. The last person who assembled it failed to install the firing pin correctly, preventing the gun from going into battery. No secret that the 140s are junk guns, but the price was right and it would make a good boat, 4 wheeler, tractor, wife gun. To the point: The gun fails to eject the spent shell. I think that the ejector and the extractor are fine as they work like expected when manually operating the bolt. Looking at the schematic for the gun I see an "o ring forearm spacer" but can't figure out exactly where it should go. The best I can tell doing internet research there are no o rings on the piston cup, which doesn't really make sense to me. Does anyone happen to have a 1400 or 140 that they may be able to show me where this o ring is located exactly? Also measurements of the o ring would be awesome. At $18 for a new one in going to try to fit a generic to it.
  10. The wordage of the statute reads: Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury within a residence, business, dwelling or vehicle is presumed to have held a reasonable belief of imminent death or serious bodily injury to self, family, a member of the household or a person visiting as an invited guest, when that force is used against another person, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence, business, dwelling or vehicle, and the person using defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred. As such, MY interpretation of the law is that it extends to any legal adult, hence the "any person" wordage as opposed to a specific reference of age. Additionally, with the castle doctorine considering a vehicle as an extension of one's home, again, MY interpretation is that an 18-20 year old caring a handgun in their car is perfectly within the law. Disclaimer: this post is in no way to be considered legal advice.
  11. And 20 years down the road people will be saying "Ruger is a good gun, except for those Wranglers, they're kind of junky." The Heritage is what it is, I own one, and it's not a bad gun. But, I wouldn't put my Heritage up against a Single Six. Although I can appreciate nice guns, they sit in the safe, while my Heritage and SKS, get thrown on the four wheeler or tractor and actually used.
  12. Been hearing gobbling every morning for a couple of weeks.
  13. Just a point of information, Sportsman's covers the trout stamp. It does not cover the duck stamp.
  14. After hunting pigs I have little interest in deer. Actually pig hunting is kind of like deer hunting, for men.
  15. I've had one for a few months and really like it.
  16. Everything and nothing in particular. I own more stuff than most people twice my age. Scrap metal, scrap lumber, tools, all kinds of broken machinery (never know when you can source a part for something else). Basically, anything that I come across for cheap or free that I think that I will use. As much time as I spend trying to keep my house not looking like Ma and Pa Kettle's I have no desire to chase after anything specific.
  17. Not sure if that's something that is available commercially, I think both of the guys that I know made their own using old jet ski trailers. It's pretty easy to do though.
  18. Seems ideal if a guy say worked in a building which was posted and he absolutely couldn't afford to be caught caring at work.
  19. The intake pimp on a jet ski can draw rocks and junk off of the bottom at depths of up to 8 feet. That might get to be a problem in places that carp are normally found. Additionally, jet skis handle like crap at low speeds. I have a couple of buddies who are really serious into kayak fishing. Both have drive on kayak trailers so there is no lifting and pulling involved. One of them is powered by a 6hp outboard, it will do about 20mph.
  20. It's obsolete technology. Literally no one uses rotary telephones anymore. I doubt very few 17 year olds have ever used a rotary phone, and I doubt that very few 40 year olds on this forum have started a fire using flint and steel, or friction methods. I still have a rotary phone on the wall in my garage as a conversation piece. Young kids get a bad rap, how many of you that fuss about kids being useless and ignorant have spent time teaching kids, especially kids that aren't yours, how to do things? I know people of all ages who are useless.
  21. Not on the list but fits the bill. I recently acquired a Kimber Micro 9 and it is my favorite carry gun that I have ever owned, and I have owned quite a few. Shoots great and carries very well.
  22. IMO $200-300 more dollars makes the difference between an entry level 1911 and a nice 1911.
  23. So you configure the gun however you want it. Clearly it's questionable. So if the ATF issues an opinion that your configuration is not legal do they then charge you with building and shipping an illegal weapon? Is this a backhanded way for them to not have to issue opinions anymore?
  24. I have used this ammo in my 336 and in a .44 Mag revolver with poor results in both. 30-30- at 25 yards my grouping was approximately 12" with shots all over the place. Picked up a box of 150 gn Core Lokts and the bullet holes touch each other on the bullseye. 44- hitting about 18" low at 15 yards. Switched to another round and it was fine. I'm done with LeverRevolution
  25. I can get you hooked up with some oak and hickory. I'm in Wilson County though, not sure if that's too far for you.
