  1. My brother gave me this rifle about 10 years ago for my birthday, Model 10GY in .243..........finding  mounting bases with flat rear is like looking for hen's teeth. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
  2. Awesome video, we used to live on the South Harpeth River and now have two ponds on our property, green herons at both locations. I have never seen a bird use bait before. I have seen "fishing crows" at Percy Priest, there is a subset that prefers seafood!
  3. Welcome from a transplant from Connecticutstan, I escaped 20 years ago.
  4. Here's a link that may offer some insights as to features and value: http://www.hipowersandhandguns.com/index.html
  5. Check the Franklin Gun Shop. I haven't been in there in several months, but they've always had a decent supply any time I've been there. I don't reload often enough to know how their prices compare, but it's a moot point if you can't find it anywhere else.
  6. Check out the pics in this link, they are all variations of the Northern Water Snake. We have two ponds on our place and lived along a river previously, I've seen several of the markings shown in these photos. Some look similar enough to a copperhead that the best way, as previously mentioned, to determine good guy/bad guy status is the pupils of the eyes. A water snake has an anticoagulant in its saliva and will bite if threatened, causing a lot of bleeding, but no venom. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=Northern+Water+Snake&qpvt=Northern+Water+Snake&FORM=IGRE
  7. Anyone besides me tried the Brenne French Single Malt? It's the smoothest whiskey my taste buds have ever experienced, has a slight banana note to it. I usually do a few rocks and a splash with scotch or bourbon, just a teaspoon of water in this will make it bloom, but really fine just neat also.
  8. Greg Luken, in Cool Springs. He works on a nominal percentage of return basis. He only makes money if you make money. We've used him for about 10 years now and have done very well under his guidance. http://luken.pro/
  9. Back in college days, a buddy and I demolished a white faced hornet nest hanging from a branch with an M80 and a slingshot, straight out of Star Wars.
  10. I use a Tracfone that had T Mobil as the service provider. Coverage was really poor. I switched to an AT&T configured phone and it's night and day.
  11. This looks pretty sweet:   http://www.gunsamerica.com/914317410/Western_Auto_Revelation_Marlin_Model_120_22_lr.htm
  12. A sheet of clear plastic lashed to some branches with some water poured in it makes a lens.
  13. After 25 years in construction and before the advent of the pneumatic nail gun, I've about worn my rotator cuffs out. No "Beast" for me.

    CZ reliability?

Very pleased with my CZ 75 Compact, perfect carry size. 14 + 1 capacity. Not sure if it's available in a decocker model though. Mine is a cocked and locked safety design.
  15. Pretty slick, wouldn't mind having one of these:   http://www.wimp.com/choppingfirewood/

  17. Great recipe in Joy of Cooking for persimmon pudding, worth a try.
  18. My favorite is Susie's Original Hot Sauce, from the island of Antigua. Made with Scotch Bonnets and has a dash of mustard in it for body.
  19. Six years ago, while waiting to range qualify for my HCP, I was browsing a shooting magazine in the lounge area of the range. I had just bought a NOS Mini 14 182 series (had never been fired, no wear in the chamber at all). There was an article on the history of the Mini 14, and a gunsmith in Arizona who was interviewed and did a lot of work for law enforcement departments said he had worked on Minis with a million rounds gone through them. They needed some basic tightening up, but functioned perfectly well....made me smile.
  20. Ithaca Model 37 starts at 28 guage, might have to settle for that. Frankly, shells would probably be easier to find since the Taurus Judge market has intruded on 410 ammo sales.

    Wasps!

I got tagged on the leg by one of those large orange hornets a couple of years ago .,Two weeks later I was going through the security scanner at the airport and the machine got a hit on it. The area was still red but no swelling, but there was enough of a skin temperature difference that the machine picked it up..
  22. These guys have a good Rossi selection, and they do negotiate on price if you ask......... http://www.franklingunshop.com/
  23. And this model is for cigars: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=746_1349280634
  24. Some favorite brands of mine lately: Ave Maria, Gran Habana Vintage 2002, Onyx, Bolivar. Cigars International is a great online source, friendlier than Thompson's and very good prices.
  25. My wife orders fatwood online from Plow & Hearth, free shipping and comes in a liquor case sized box.
