Don't think this is how the "stand your ground law" works
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Did you all see that Mayor Michael Bloomberg has now gotten into the act. He called a press conference yesterday to push for repeal of all SYG Legislation across the country. Never misses a chance to get his name in the limelight does he. -
Inbreeding is not a problem if your eating or selling the offspring before they breed.

Don't think this is how the "stand your ground law" works
Moped replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
After being led around like a bull with a ring in his nose, I quit posting here. I go back and forth on this whole case. I've about quit reading about it. But my take on the last three days is... A. The Prosecutor probably didn't take it to the Grand Jury because she didn't think she could win an indictment. B. The Prosecutor is under a lot of pressure to prosecute this case from many different sources. C. We do not know what really happened and we probably never will, based on what we have read and heard in the press. D. My personal feeling is this needs to go to court. E. Zimmerman is/was an idiot. F. Al Sharpton still has a bigger ego than Don King had hair. E. I'd say the odds are in Zimmerman's favor, unless there is evidence we haven't seen (which is a total turnaround from what I believed when I last posted here) or his Lawyers are complete morons. -
Nice looking knife! OS has got me started at looking at these PRC knives. I like the Navy 631. Seen them on EBAY for around $20. Holding off though since I just bought the Kershaw Clash about 3 weeks ago. I'm looking to buy a new hat first.

Santorum did the right thing. This didn't need to go on any longer. Romney is the man, whether we like him or not. Time to get behind him. Now if Gingrich and Paul would just pull out and let's get started on putting Obama out of office!

who knows what steel is good as a knife blade?
Moped replied to nightrunner's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I like my carbon steel 1075 and 1095 blades, the best. But my Kershaw Clash in 8cr13mov is a damned fine blade for $22. I think just about every major knife maker uses very good steel, now-a-days. My liking the carbon steels is because they are easy to sharpen and easy to keep sharpened. A lot of people don't like the fact that they are hard to keep "shiny". Me, I don't care. I like a good patina on a knife. Tells me it working knife and well loved. My knives are like my guns. I got no safe queens. They are all used. -
I wish they would make these again. They were a great little rifle! I traded for one back I think 80's. It was a fun rifle to shoot. I like them better than the Ruger 10/22.
-
Outside of my Colt Peacemaker in .22LR, the Ruger MkII with a bull barrel is the most versatile fun pistol I've ever shot.
-
I don't think that's going to be a problem unless he picks someone like Christy. Then people like me will not vote for him.

Sweet! I love Colt revolvers! Wish I had one of these to go with my Agent!
-
I know of none, Mike. The thing that gets me is, if your carrying concealed, how are they going to know, if you are carrying or not? To me, these things are like blinders for idiot, anti gun people.

Friend of mine just bought one this week at Academy Sports. They are $449 there.

You can't go wrong with a good revolver. I really like the new crop of lightweight revolvers from Ruger, S&W and Taurus in .38. I have an old .38 Colt Agent, which weights in at 16oz and is quite comfortable being carried in the pocket of my khaki pants or a coat.
-
I've had a couple of .380s, including a Sig230. I was never happy with the round and ultimately I ended up with a Colt Agent .38spl., which I've had for over 10 years now. It's 16oz (empty) and is very accurate and never has a problem with extraction. A good friend of mine was looking for a new pistol after getting her HCP. I steered her toward either a LCR .38spl or a S&W 442. After much research she purchased the LCR. Revolvers go bang every time. I've never had one fail on me and I've had quite a few. Can't say the same about .380 autos. They ain't sexy, but sexy ain't what I'm looking for in a small concealable pistol. I got a wife for that!

My top three choices for VP, would be West, Haley and Rubio. West brings a lot to the table. He is a retired Army officer with several combat deployments under his belt. He is an educator and a Tea Party Favorite. He is also a Conservative African American. The one con sure to come out if he were chosen is that when he retired as a LT. Col. in the Army he was under investigation for his conduct during interrogations of enemy combatants. But he has also won an election in Florida and that had to have been hashed out there, at least to some extent. I've heard him on the radio some and he is an excellent, thoughtful speaker. He would be my first choice. Rubio is also a Tea Party darling and Hispanic. That could be a real plus with the Latino vote and could go along way to helping Romney win this election. He has some issues too, though. He has a couple of controversies dogging him. He has a foreclosure on a house in Tallahassee when he was a Florida State Congressman. And he told a little fib about being the son of Cuban Exciles. Actually, his parents left Cuba about 3 years before Castro came to power. That hasn't actually endeared him to the Cuban majority in Florida. Those two things will surely come out during a Presidential Election and get hammered by the media. Haley is obviously a woman and nice looking to boot! She is another Tea Party favorite, but has had mixed results in South Carolina and she won a personally bruising election for Governor. To me, that means she is tough as nails, considering all the rumors of infidelity she faced. That has to be one of the biggest mud slinging contests I've ever seen! I believe she is of Indian (as in India) descent. Since Romney is seen to be trailing with the women's vote, she could be a real shot in the arm for his campaign. I think she is a much better choice than Palin, as I believe her to be smarter. If she is the choice, then look for all that old dirt from the SC Governor race to come back up. I might add that a lot of the crap came from within the Republican party down there. My personal opinion is that if Romney Picks Christy, I will not vote. I'm already going to hold my nose vote for a Northeast Rhino. An Anti-2nd Amendment Christy would be way to much to swallow. I'll just hope that the Republicans can stay in control of the House and take control of the Senate.

Employee Safe Commute (Parking Lot) Campaign

You should let Mr. Ramsey know that. -
Check this crap out! Guns in parking lot stuff:

I am not shocked. Harwell and Ramsey are not our friends, except when they want votes. Time for some house cleaning! -
Awesome looking blades! Congratulations!

SKy, I totally agree with you on this. I was just voicing my support for the Hunter's addition too. I have to agree with others here about half loaves and for more and more people getting their HCP! I'm ok with the bill as is, if it will pass. But I would like to have my cake with a little icing on occasion! -

I thought the Hunting license was one of the better amendments to this bill. I can't count the times I've left to go hunting at the end of the work day, with an unloaded rifle or shotgun hidden under all my gear. That's just common sense. I really question how much support Mr. Ramsey actually has for the Second Amendment. I think he really could care less. He is just trying to placate us and hang on to a few more votes come the next election. I liked the third comment! The poster is spot on. I think there is an argument to be made about the HCP statute creating a whole different class of people that are more equal than others. Now is not the time for that argument though. After we kick out the current "Second Amendment Supporters, But Only When It's Convenient" crowd, then we can move to what the Second Amendment is really about. I'd love to see us become like Alaska, Arizona and Vermont. -
I've eaten raw octopus tentacles and not fried calamari either... well I've eaten that too and it's good. I've had the whole tentacles. That was a little weird til I chewed it up. Never eaten fish eggs, except on sushi.

Listen to Mark@Sea! He knows the subject. I was at his house a couple of years ago and he has the most fantastic Coleman collection I've ever seen! He gave my son a little lantern which we used last week camping!

A .22 bolt will out shoot an auto every time. If you just want to burn a lot of ammo or hunt, get the 10/22. If you want to hunt and hit 1 MOA at 100 yards, get a bolt. I have a preference for the Winchester Mdl 52. Wish it was still made.

Man, Canada could be a long haul! It could take you months if it was really bad. Hopefully, if you had some warning (which I hope we have in a international or national SHTF situation) you could move up there before hand. I like some of your plans, though. You came up with a good plan of attack with the firearms.
