Chinese SKS, tactified, need opinions
Moped replied to A.J. Holst's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I have alway thought the original 10 round fixed magazine was the best. Nothing else in my experience comes close. -
It depends on how many survivors there are and how much food there is to go around. Also I suspect that the Government (not just the Military) would quickly declare Marshall Law and try their best to lock down the country, using the Military and Federal, State and Local LE. I think that's a given in just about any scenario.

Seriously, I could bring some basic engineering skills to the table, as a surveyor and civil and an electrical designer. Also been a soldier and marksmanship trainer in the USAR.

You and me both, brother! :D

Wasn't the .45-70 Gov’t Model 1873 Springfield carbine at single shot? I think I read somewhere that the Ordnance Department was run by imbeciles that didn't know their backsides from a hole in the ground. They felt that repeaters wasted ammunition, so they took a bunch of old Springfield rifles left over from the Civil War and converted them to breech loaders and cut them to carbine length. It was probably cheaper, but a step backwards from much better and more modern weapons like the Spencer. I believe the 7th Cav at the Battle of Little Bighorn was armed with such single shot rifles.

I'm interested! Can you PM me the details.

You can't ever sale or trade that pistol! Sorry for your loss and envious of your gain!

The History Channel's Alone Season 2 starts Thursday night at 9PM! I watched Season 1 this weekend. It was a great show! If you haven't seen Season 1 and you have the chance, go watch it!!! Now meet the Survivors!!! http://www.history.com/shows/alone/cast?mkwid=mQo4jPfb|dc_pcrid_9959052000_pkw_%2Balone%20%2Bseason%20%2B2_pmt_p&keyword=%2Balone%20%2Bseason%20%2B2&pcrid=&mt=

You all need to check out Dave McIntyre's series called The Fall! I'm on book 2 and it's really great. Also you can see Dave on The History Channel's Alone Season 2. He is one of the contestants.

Hard to argue with a 30/30 lever action. Personally, I would consider a Savage Axis if I were looking at a Ruger American.

I was in an MOS where a pistol was issued as part of the MTOE. We got minimal training on pistol marksmanship and zero combat handgun training. Personally, I think the entire military is long over due for a complete change in marksmanship and combat weapons training.

Const. Carry Bill brought up today

I think most here would not agree with your perspective, QM. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk -
Sounds like you got a dud. Most people either love them or hate them, but they have quite a large following. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

You are thinking of the Tribeca 7 passenger. It was a pretty futuristic looking car for a Subaru. It dropped after 2014. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk

Const. Carry Bill brought up today
Moped replied to CommsNBombs's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
He is the Leader of the Republican Party in the State, as the Republican Governor. The leaders of both chambers would not have their positions without his support. Nor would the Whips and Chairs of each committee. They all work in lock step together, usually. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk -
I love Subarus! You can't go wrong with them. Just wish they were bigger!

Const. Carry Bill brought up today
Moped replied to CommsNBombs's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
The Tennessee State Legislature might be in the top 25 most conservative. Key word is might. When it comes to the 2nd Amendment, they seem to be on the other side of the 25 most conservative legislative bodies. and nothing will change until Haslam is gone. -
I can't imagine pocket carrying a pistol over 18oz. I have a Springfield XDs .45 ACP now and it's on the belt in a holster. I actually happen to like the little holster that Springfield makes for it.

Vortex Crossfire II, Bushnell AR BDC or Leupold VXR
Moped replied to I am Groot!'s topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Vortex makes quality scopes! Love my Diamondback!!! -
I think we will have plenty of advanced notice that the Apocalypse is approaching, but if there wasn't, I sure as hell am not just running willy nilly out of my house with just one firearm. I will bug in first and second, if I have to bug out, I will be taking everything of value that I have in this house, starting with all my firearms and ammunition. My first choice in a firearm would be my AR, though for defense.

New Book- 'Lights Out', by Ted Koppel
Moped replied to superduty's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I would agree with your alls assessment of David Crawford's Lights Out. Last week the Israeli's reported that they had a cyber attack on their power grid system but were able to successfully fight it off. This was during the coldest time in the winter their power plants were working at full capacity. TVA is taking steps to insure a Cyber attack is not likely to succeed. With each passing month, their systems are getting stronger and stronger. -
I belong to several FB groups in the Knoxville Area and have purchased and sold through FB for several years now. I like that I can go to a person's FB page and get an idea of what they are like. I can't do that here. I'd be interested in seeing when FB plans on implementing this, because all the groups I belong too are still active as of this morning. Most of those groups have gone from public or closed to secret this morning. I'm wondering if FB has told them if they move to secret, then they can continue as before.

I wish Ruger would come out with a 357mag in their American series or Savage would produce one in the Axis line. Sent from my SM-G860P using Tapatalk
