Old car mech here, if you short drive every day, less than 10 miles, 5000 is OK. Same 10 miles just a few days a week, 3000, more water will build up in the crank case. If you can let you car warm up for a few mins (10 to 15 mins) you oil will last longer. If you drive more that 20 miles to work you can go 7500. I drive a work truck, lots of miles on the interstate, I can go 10,000 or when the computer says to change it.
