  1.   Regardless of the pay, that job sounds like an accident waiting to happen. One flat tire and you have black marks against you. I'm not sure I would be happy to keep working under that kind of implied pressure.
  2.   The guy who has to climb down that ladder is going to love you.
  3. I'm sure some of those took more than a few takes but still impressive.
  4. To be fair, Windows security has come a long way. Probably the best thing you can do is not use and administrator account for your day-to-day stuff, especially if you're less-knowledgeable.
  5. Uh oh. I have the cable but never used it.   However, from what I understand, it's a standard serial interface so it shouldn't be too hard to splice something together.
  6. Well, I don't know about the exact structure but in terms of raising awareness and getting the word out, it could be a productive partnership.
  7.   The Baofeng's are not too hard to set up manually but I hear the data cable makes it a breeze. You have to read the manual carefully though.   There is an excellent study guide out there that leads you through information needed for the test. Things you will be tested on are highlighted in bold. I can dig out a link if anyone is interested.
  8. When two people are getting into it, the important thing to do is stop them getting into it further. The details can be sorted out after. I can't really fault those involved in "making things safe". The idiot who started it needs the book thrown at him, of course.   As to the laws above, I think the first two could reasonable apply (he had the intent. That he was ignorant of the law is no excuse, as ever). The second two probably not so much.
  9. I got mine last year but haven't really progressed beyond the little Baofeng that I leave tuned to the local repeater (when I remember to turn it on), Can't even remember my callsign.
  10. I think some closer collaboration could only be a good thing.
  11.     Yet another reason to use adblock and friends.
  12. Not sure that a Segway gains you much over other multi-wheeled platforms but neat idea.   At first I thought it was meaning that these things fired back. Could be interesting if they were fitted with paintball markers though.
  13. But you are not a 62 year-old man. By which I mean this a-hole would probably not have dared start something with someone who looked like they could physically pose a challenge. Probably the kind who beats his wife and small children.
  14. I just ordered the Rokinon \o/
  15. I find the kit lens is fine for quite a lot of what I do so changing the lens to zoom in is not usually a big deal. Usually though I'm trying to fit more into my pictures, not less hence the fish-eye. It may be just a little bit more angle than I actually need but I can think of some things I can use it for.
  16. I have the first two lenses you list (same camera) and I think the 50mm is on my "to buy" list (Actually, it's the 40) but this is the next one I think I'm getting. In theory, I should have pulled the trigger on it already... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002LTXQUE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=25KWVG8UPYJBZ&coliid=I2UZDYKC7VS73Q&psc=1 For some reason I also have an 18-55 lens in my wishlist too. Can't remember what that's about.
  17. Saw one of the stickers on a red pickup heading west on old 46 a few days ago. Didn't want to start a new thread and we don't seem to have a "TGO sightings" thread.
  18.   I find my HCP badge catches on the rug during shoulder rolls.
  19. I didn't know Scranton PA was in Ireland.   And yes, his statement would seem to be offensive to the Irish.
  20.   There's a difference between refusing and not consenting. If a cop really wants to search, he will do so anyway. If you end up in a courtroom, whether you consented or not could make a difference if there was not probable cause.   You have to ask yourself what is the motive of a cop that wants to search without probable cause though...
  21.   For sure. I prefer to walk out on the balcony and fire a couple of blasts.
  22. I gotta say, one thing that's really steering me away from smart watches is the battery life. I'd quite like the Motorola but do not want the hassle. The battery life on the Pebble I might just be about to deal with but it's a little short in the features department. Maybe in a couple of years...
  23.   Shit happens. I don't want to be covering my friend with a muzzle. Be sure of your target.
  24. Doesn't a light also conflict with "don't point your gun at something you don't want to destroy"? If you need your light to identify, you don't know what it is. You basically have to assume that whatever that noise was, it's fair game. Which may be valid 98% of the time...
