  1. The report that I read on WSMV indicates that this was well-planned. They knew who they were going for and where he was in the building.
  2. When I took my wife back to Kansas City, MO during Christmas week to visit her parents I decided to make a trip to the Cabelas in Kansas City, KS. It's one of the bigger stores that they have which was much larger than the Bass Pro in Nashville mostly because of an African stuffed game exhibit on the first floor. The staff was VERY friendly and helpful even though they were swamped on the Friday after Christmas. I chatted the guy up a bit and mentioned that I'd never been in a Cabelas before, and that they opened a reportedly smaller one in Bowling Green that I haven't seen. He said that they built about 4 large stores before switching to the smaller stores: however, he indicated that they were most likley going back to building the larger stores. I darned near bought a Cabelas exclusive Ruger 10/22 with a blonde hunting stock just for its uniqueness, but put it off to give the new gun shop in Smyrna a chance to locate the particular 10/22 that I had been looking for - which they had.
  3. Ya, I was glad that I wasn't drinking something when I read that! :)

  5. I never go out on amateur night. We stay at home and usually in bed by 10:00.
  6. It's freak'n sad, really.
  7.   Patton said on the first page that it was an M&P Shield. Yeah, a 2 year old can pull that trigger, but I have a safety on mine.
  8. "However, in a police report, she told responding officers she had warned Cahill to euthanize the dog because it was violent and unpredictable."   And there you go.
  9. I swear that dog is smiling for the camera! :)
  10. When you run from them - particularly young children - it kicks in their instincts to bring down game. That's hard for a 5 year old to understand.   Other than bat-crap crazy animals, dogs generally are what they are taught to be. Breed characteristics are a generally identified trait. I've seen a pit that was an incredibly big baby obcessed with his tennis ball. He was so obcessed that he'd try to drink water with the ball in his mouth. All he cared about was you throwing the ball for him. Little dogs can be the meanest of the bunch, and just because they are little they get away with a lot more than they should. We have two Rat Terriers and a Rottweiler, and guess which one has bitten our line-in 5-year old granddaughter? I trust the Rotty more than the other two dogs with the children. He's content with being loved, but I would not advise coming into the house, or behind the fence, without someone in the famly having introduced you first.
  11. I just ordered my Christmas present: a Ruger 10/22 Model 1159 which should arrive the latter half of next week. :)
  12. OTW this afternoon!
  13. "borat"??? Does that stand for Big Old Rat?
  14. Did you see in the comments where some idiot suggested a gun lock?
  15. What a shame to be killed by your own son with your own weapon: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/police-boy-2-accidentally-kills-woman-in-store/ar-BBhmnXx
  16. Sweet! Standing by! :)
  17. Seasons 1-6 of Sons of Anarchy, a collection of DVD's and book called Black Ops, and a Starbucks card.
  18. You just HAD to poke the bear, huh? :)
  19. I didn't need Mythbusters to have my BS detector going off when I read Carlos' book. IIRC, Carlos stated the he saw a glint of light from the sun reflecting off of the other sniper's scope lens, and that he just aimed at where the reflection was and fired. That does imply that the sniper's weapon was pointed upwards enough to catch the light, but that would also mean that the light traveled a straight line to Carlos' eye. In order for the scope to match the trajectory of the bullet the sniper would have had to raise his rifle further meaning that he had no idea where Carlos was which is contrary to Carlos' statement that the sniper was about to fire and that Carlos beat him to it. Since there's no evidence to support his account of the events then it stays in my BS folder. Don't get me wrong, I think Carlos was a great sniper, but a lot of his stories just smelled of embellishment to me.
  20. There's still that little trajectory problem. I read Carlos' book and do not remember the distance, but I believe that it was more than 100 yards.
  21. All I ask is please don't forget to check on that Ruger 10/22 1159 that I asked you about last week before you took off for your other job. I was tempted to buy a 10/22 from Cabelas last Saturday, but held off to see if you could get that particular 10/22 for me. :)
  22. I believe that Mythbusters proved that shooting someone through a scope as they peered through it at you was impossible. The trajectory of the bullet's flight path and the convex surface of the thick lenses makes it impossible.
  23. I get the flu shot every year, but on another note you should "Trust but verify" more and more as you get older. :)
  24. I was in there today. They were as nice as can be. They said inventory is down from Christmas but getting new in, (they got a delivery while I was there). They also said prior military service got you $10 transfers too. They are actually looking into ordering me the particular 10/22 that I'm looking for.
