  1. That's just bat crazy!
  2. Me too. Surprised I didn't kill myself.
  3. PM MacGyver
  4. Still pretty neat.
  5. Did they come to blows or just walk off in a snit?
  6. My SIL told us of two serious incidents. One caught the butt of the rifle to the head when she failed to catch it. The frightening one was the girls were to hold the rifle to support them as they jumped up and spread their legs in sort of a double side kick. While doing this a girl somehow came down on the rifle barrel driving it up into her vagina.
  7. They seem to have gone to flags - probably because it's safer and easier. My SIL did the rifle drill thing in high school and told us of a couple of incidences where girls got seriously hurt.
  8. "Apparently swords were no match for guns starting in the World War I so they stopped issuing them." Clearly, no one told the Japanese that!
  9. It wasn't you who said it but you commented on it as if you supported it. EDIT: You even liked the post where it was stated.
  10. If you look up the definitions one doesn't preclude the other. Accidents are often caused by negligence which is why you can take tort actions. Accident essentially means unintentional. One is mindset whereas the other is lack of due care. What I find offensive is not people saying it was negligence rather that the cop is held at a lower standard than the rest. I can see just about everyone on the forum doing the same thing if a dog was coming after them. Unfortunately, there are some self-righteous vultures on here that can't see the same.
  11. Really? Duh!
  12. My initial response in this thread was to a member who said that the officer is being held to a lower standard because he was a cop. If you accidentally shoot your wife because you hit a door while your finger was on the trigger it's no more, nor less, of an accident because you weren't wearing a uniform. The uniform has nothing to do with it.
  13. I agree that he shot his partner and that it was his fault. I never said that it wasn't his fault. What I don't agree with is people who have NEVER done the job, never have been in any similar situation, or their only experience with gun handling has been on a range, bashing the guy and saying that he's held to a different standard.
  14. I know I never said that it wasn't his fault.
  15. Whatever.
  16. You, in fact, do not know all the facts. A common problem with the judgmental people on this forum.
  17. Do you know the details? Do you know that if you were gun drawn into an abode and a dog came out of the crate your first thought would be, "I need to take my finger off the trigger and holster my weapon before I escape the room!? Yeah, sure.
  18. Running from an attacking dog is negligence? Ok.
  19. Do you work in the unique realm of law enforcement? Take "shot" out of the equation. If you had an accident caused in part by work circumstances would you be fired? Not necessarily.
  20. Which "less stringent" rules would that be? If you, as a civilian, accidentally shot someone then what "rules" would apply to you? Criminal charges? No, it wasn't intentional and in the performance of their duties. Civil suit? Yes, he can be sued for that just like a civilian could. Fired? Yes, he could be fired but the PD didn't feel that was warranted. So would rules are you speaking of?
  21. Friendly fire happens quite frequently in law enforcement.
  22. Don't confuse him with facts. You'll burst his bubble.
  23. We should be thankful for theft?
  24. I fixed it for you.
