  1. Well I guess it is in a way. But here and on other forums we share common interests and after a while you kinda get to know folks. Its not like laying your life out to complete strangers. Besides, I'm careful about what I choose to post.
  2. The Rock-Ola is one of the rarer M1 Carbines. Very collectible and desirable. If you want one, be prepared to spend big money. Two to three grand at least. If what you want is a Ranch Rifle, you might want to consider the original there as well. Nothing wrong with a good old lever action.
  3. I've never understood the compulsion to post details of your private life for millions of people you don't know. Likewise, I couldn't care less about what some total stranger does or thinks. I'm a big believer in privacy and minding my own business.
  4. I love the M1 Carbine and have two originals. An Inland and a Standard products. I really don't know much about the current reproductions. I'd trust Fulton Armory just on their name and reputation. However, they're very expensive. Almost twice the price of an original. I've never seen a current New Inland or Auto Ordnance, so I can't say as to them. However, I can say avoid the old Universal and Iver Johnson copies. They were very hit and miss. Mostly miss as most were unreliable and not all parts interchange with originals. From what I've seen of the prices, you can pretty much buy an original for about the same money as current copies or probably less if you're patient and shop around. That's what I recommend.
  5. Looks like something that could be real handy. I ordered one.
  6. Lily Munster was hot! Yvonne De Carlo really put the vamp in vampire.
  7. I don't do social media. However, I do regularly visit a couple of humor sites made up mostly of memes, cartoons and jokes submitted by the membership. Mostly the stuff posted is just good fun, but politics often gets involved and sometimes its more personal opinion than humor. Sort of semi-social media. I've also noticed that these post are mostly from young people and lean heavily to the left. Boy! Are they going nuts over this! Everything from "I'm glad he got it" to "serves him right". I've also learned that almost all social media sites have banned any Trump death wish posts. Reports are that Twitter as already had to delete over a million such posts. It makes me both sad and angry that politics has divided our nation to the point that so many people would wish our Commander In Chief to die.
  8. I have several that don't get shot often. Some may for years between range visits. But they do get shot once in a while.
  9. Range Report: Just got back from the range. First thing I discovered was that the previous owner had the rear sight cranked all the way down. But once I got it adjusted, all was well. I put about 150 rounds through it. A mixed bag ranging from .38 Specials to full house .357s. No problems. In fact the gun is kinda boring. Goes bang every time and hits where pointed. Although I do tend to pull right just a bit in DA shooting. But, I was planning to change the grips anyway and that should fix that. Overall, I'm very pleased with it.
  10. The only thing this kid is guilty of is making a bad decision to go to the protest. But then, 17 year olds are noted for making bad decisions.
  11. I've owned a 4" blue Ruger Security Six for many years. Great gun! I've had a 2.75" model on my wish list for more years than I care to count. The darn things are hard to come by and often sell at ridiculous prices. About a week ago, one popped up on the local Armslist. I sent the guy an e-mail, but unfortunately had to leave for a doctor's appointment. By the time I got back, it was gone. Likewise, I found a nice blue one on GB just a few days ago. It ended up selling for way more than I was willing to give. But this morning I finally scored! Another one popped up on Armslist. Surprised me because two in as many weeks is unheard of. In fact, these are the first Security Sixs listed in over a year. I texted the guy, we made arrangements and I came home with this. It came with Pachmyer Grippers on it. I hate those. I dug around in the wood pile and came up with a set of factory targets. The pic doesn't really show it, but they're rough as a cob. Oh well, they'll do until I can find something better. I really would have preferred a blue gun, but beggars can't be choosers. I'm happy with it! Anyway, I hope to get it to the range soon. Range report pending.
  12. Sad indeed. I always liked Mac. Great singer, songwriter and funny as all get out. I wasn't a huge fan of Helen Reddy, but I did enjoy her music. Sad to lose her too.
  13. I looked into them some years ago. As I recall, they're all talk and no action. Just looking to separate you from your money.
  14. Feel free to use them. The gun can still be used without them. But it still needs to be in your hand.
  15. Gonna be interesting to see what Ruger does with Marlin. For some reason, I have a feeling that they're gonna muck it up. Especially since the classic Model 60 has always been one of the 10/22s biggest rivals.
  16. I never really kept up with it. best guess, around 7,000 per year. However, last year I had some health issues and of course, this year has been a mess. So I'm way behind.
  17. Never trust your life to anything that requires a battery.
  18. That would be about right for I-240 around Memphis.
  19. I did a little quick checking around the internet and can't find any .357 loads using Green Dot.
  20. I'd go with the .357. More versatile, lots of loads to choose from and better ballistics in case you need it against a large animal. The .45acp is an excellent self defense cartridge and would probably just fine for the stated purpose. I just prefer the .357 in this case.
  21. Just look up Tennessee State Parks. You can get all the info you need including camp site hook up details.
