  1. What the anti-masker says: "Its illegal! Its unconstitutional! Herd immunity! Its my RIGHT!" What the world actually hears: "I'm a whinny little b itch that doesn't give a damn about anybody but myself!"
  2. Not policing, merely want to point out a mistake. I only go out when I need to. I needed groceries. I fend for myself and don't count on other people to do for me. Yes, I am responsible for my own health. So I am careful, social distance as much as possible and do wear a mask. You see, I've been there. Not covid, but other health issues. I've been confined to a hospital bed, on oxygen and fighting for every breath. I never want to go through that again. Anti-mask people can't imagine what that's like. I hope you never find out.
  3. I did basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood way back in 1972. At the time we lived in those old wooden WW II barracks known as 30 second fire traps. I guess they're long gone. Sorta just passed through Ft. Campbell. Wasn't there very long at all. Haven't been up that way in many years. Congratulations to your Granddaughter! I'm sure she'll do ya proud.
  4. Did my monthly grocery shopping today. Huge crowds. Lots of people shopping for 4th of July. Very obvious that many were buying for a big party. Sam's was ok. They even handed out free masks at the door if you needed one. Most people, including me, are wearing masks. 4-5 registers open. However, they funnel everybody into one checkout line to wait for the next open checker. Line goes all the way to the back of the store and it seemed to take forever to check out. Kroger was just a PITA. Social distancing had checkout lines running a long way down the aisles making it hard just to get to what you need. Most people with masks, but quite a few without. What pisssed me off was that many employees were wearing their masks with their nose hanging out. . Only covering their mouth. Almost all the checkers were that way. Some employees with no mask at all. They should know better and management should enforce proper use. I tried to tell someone, but couldn't find any supervisor types. Tried to call when I got home, but the automated phone system just kept transferring me until I was finally cut off. I might try again tomorrow. They really need to fix that. My shopping trip took about twice as long as usual. Time to hunker back down. At least I won't starve.
  5. Shelby County is booming. Today its up 169 new cases from yesterday. 192 dead so far. They've been adding 100+ new cases every day for almost two weeks now. Saw on the news tonight that some medical feds are in town monitoring the situation. I'm gettin' scared to go out. Plus a holiday weekend. Its not looking very good.
  6. I admit my google-foo is weak. Can somebody give me a link to a page which gives stats for current Tennessee HCPs and monthly numbers for applications and issued permits? There's a guy on another forum I visit that's bragging on Texas. I think we can beat 'em.
  7. Check Gunbroker and other auction site. They sometimes have parts kits that include just about everything except the frame.
  8. Us old guys need something to fill our evenings with.
  9. I've got a 6" Model 29-8. Its a classic all right. Every gun owner should at least experience one. Honestly, I very rarely shoot it. For big bores I much prefer the .44 Special and .45 Colt. I'm just not a fan of all that buck and roar of the big magnum. The only reason I have it is because it was left to me when a dear friend passed away. Believe it or not, that cannon was his EDC.
  10. One I watched that was cancelled is Deputy. Not a half bad cop show. The main character was good, but it had serious liberal tendencies. I won't miss it. Carol's Second Act was pretty good. But I only watched it because of its time slot between other shows. It was a fill in for me. Just another dumb comedy. Again, won't be missed. Broke: Love Pauley Perrette, absolutely hated that show. Good riddance.
  11. Don't know the girl or the movie, but the guns seem to mocked up hollywood versions of the pre-war Colt Official Police.
  12. For a rifle I'll go with my M1A Scout/Squad. Its a good do it all rifle. Handgun, well as much as I love my 1911s, I'd probably go with a high cap 9mm just for ammo availability. Then there would be a good .22 handgun in my pack for small game and throw in a suppressor for keeping a low profile.
  13. Most people also don't know that Mariska's father was Mickey Hargitay. He was a famous bodybuilder back in the 1950s who won the Mr. Universe title. He went on to do some minor acting. Often starring in "B" Hercules type movies. He was also often seen as a guest star in early TV shows where a tough guy character was needed. But his best role was as Jayne Mansfield's husband.
  14. I see this quite often myself. It seems to occur most often with employees who are required to wear a mask at work. Especially, at store check outs and such. IDK, maybe some sort of minor rebellion against being forced to wear a mask at all. Then these folks do wear the mask for extended periods.. I guess it does get uncomfortable after a while. I know I'm ready to take mine off as soon as I leave the store. I really hate to think that this many people are really that stupid. But it is a real possibility.
  15. This right here. Its been decades since Americans could trust anything the government has said. Now they reap what they have sown. Yep products of liberalism and the ME generation. Screw your needs or opinions! Its all about Me! I think its more about being TOLD to wear a mask. Some folks are just hardheaded enough to rebel just on that alone. I wear a mask in public and I hope others do as well. So its a minor inconvenience, so what? We inconvenience ourselves on a daily basis for far less reason. Wearing a mask is common sense. But I'm afraid common sense isn't very common.
  16. As if the NICS system weren't already overloaded enough.
  17. Good point. There have been large crowds gathering in Memphis over the last several weeks for a variety of reasons. Looks like its coming back to bite 'em on the butt. Memphians aren't the smartest people in this state. Today's numbers show 2,375 active cases in Shelby County. It doesn't say how many are hospitalized. However, adding 100 or more every day it could start to get crowded in our hospitals very quickly. I hear ya. I'm in the same boat. And after some serious health problems last year, the doctors now say I have COPD. The virus could be deadly for me. So I'm taking no chances.
  18. Shelby County (Memphis) has been steadily adding around 100 new cases per day for about a week now. The good news is that the death rate seems to be steady at only about 2%. I have to wonder just how many of the increased new cases are people who took part in the big protests that where happening daily for over a week?
  19. I've been kinda watching the daily numbers. Checking every couple of days on the U.S. TN and Shelby county. Ever since the partial reopening, they've been steadily going up. Especially after the many large protest gatherings. I'm afraid I see another total lockdown in the near future. This thing is far from over.
