That's all over the news here. So far one person has retired, another quit and the County health Department Director has resigned. But County Commissioners were already voting to fire her. I also believe one doctor has been arrested for stealing vaccine. A week or so ago, the county turned over control of vaccinations to the city. Try to understand how screwed up things have to be to give control of something this important to Memphis of all people. State investigators just keep coming up with cases of mistakes, carelessness, misappropriation and down right theft of vaccines. The list seems to grow every day. Just another day in Memphis.

Thanks Chuck. I could see problems trying to explain your gun to an officer in another state if you didn't have an actual permit on your person. I believe I'll just keep renewing mine. I do see Snaveba's point. There are a lot of really stupid people out there. It does worry me some that there will be untrained people out there carrying guns. OTOH, there are a lot of them out there right now. Many. many people carry guns every day without a permit. I've known quite a few myself. I think this may turn into a self correcting problem. Once a couple of idiots screw up badly and the news media blows it out of proportion, Hopefully other idiots will reconsider there choices or at least study up on the law and go to the range once in a while. Also bear in mind that no sane person, no matter how stupid they are, wants to shoot anybody. Honestly, I think the one thing that would be the best answer would be to teach firearms training, handling and law to young people in our Public School system. But we all know that'll never happen.

Leroy, I remember those days as well. To get my first handgun permit (1992) I had to write a letter to the Sheriff explaining why I wanted a permit, take a class, be bonded and even then it was only good in my county. Getting it was left totally up to the Sheriff's desecration. Fortunately at the time, our Sheriff was pretty open minded about armed citizens. However, in many counties a handgun permit was impossible to get because the Sheriff was against it and rejected all applications. As for the Tennessee Sheriff's Association, these guys are politicians, not law men. Never expect them to side with the citizens or for that matter, their own rank and file officers. They're all about the power game.

That's my question. Living here in the corner, I sometimes travel into Arkansas and Mississippi. If we go Constitutional, can those of us with Handgun permits keep and renew them or will permits just go away?

Interesting article. Reminds me of the old .38-200 British service load. That was simply a .38 S&W with a heavier 200 gr bullet. While seriously under powered by today's standards, the Brits used it quite successfully in their Webley and Enfield break top revolvers for many years.

About 7-8 years ago my Springfield 1911A1 developed a crack in the lower barrel lug. This is my IDPA gun and at the time had had an estimated 30,000+ rounds of hardball through it. Springfield paid shipping both ways and IIRC the gun was fixed and back to me in 8 days. I've also contacted them about small things for used guns I've bought. Such as a missing screw or the take down tool for my Ultra-Compact. Every time they sent what I needed at no charge and it arrived within just a few days. Springfield has some of the best customer service of any gun company. No worries there.

I must have missed that page. I was trying for the Greater Imani church as its only a couple of miles from my house. But now I see several more possibilities. Thanks!

I checked the website again today. I'm trying for the place that's only a couple of miles from me. Anyway, they had one spot open for tomorrow. I immediately filled out the web form and submitted it. Somebody beat me to it while I was typing. I'll keep trying, but unless I get lucky, it may be a while. In other news, Gov. Lee is highly pissed at Memphis. It seems that somebody screwed up big time and let 2400 doses go bad. A few weeks ago they let 500 doses expire. The state isn't taking over the job, but they are sending state health dept personal to "supervise". Of course Memphis and Shelby County governments are busy blaming each other. Welcome to Memphis, where government can break and anvil with a rubber hammer.

Its because the U.S. has just passed 500,000 Covid deaths. Biden's orders.

Not that I can find. It also appears that they only schedule one week at a time. If I'm wrong, somebody please set me straight.

They do make appointments, but remember we're dealing with Memphis here. There have been stories in the local news of very long waits and sometimes running out of vaccine with many people still in line. I just tried to sign up. But the actual registration page won't load. Overloaded I guess. They just started round 1B today. I'll keep trying. Just tried again. Calendar now shows all available slots are full.

Woo Hoo...just won a Sig Sauer P227 .45ACP pistol auction on Gunbroker

Congratulations! I'm a big fan of Sigs myself. Looking forward to pics and a range report. -
I just checked Shelby County stats for the first time in a week or two. Active cases are down to 1531. That's the lowest I've seen in many months. However, deaths are up to 1460. I saw on the news a couple of days ago that sometime today they're supposed to lower vaccination age to people 65 and up. That makes me eligible. Now I'm wondering if I should sign up right away or give it a little time for the rush to pass. I don't want to be sitting in a line for 5-6 hours. Thoughts?

Are you prepared for this incoming ice storm?

Weird weather. Just a couple days ago we had snow, ice and were freezing our butts off. Right now its 60 degrees and I just made a quick trip to the store in my shirt sleeves. Now the forecast is calling for mild temperatures but rain staring Friday and 40-50% chance of rain everyday for the next week. So I guess we won't freeze, but we just might drown. -
Simple inflation. Rising cost for materials, labor, etc and so on. As far as I know, only Ruger has successfully created a polymer framed revolver and its butt ugly. Revolvers have gone up in price just like everything else. Then there is also the traditionalist view. Some folks just love the classic lines of a good revolver. Its just simple point and pull the trigger. No magazines, no safeties and no slide to rack. There's a quality and craftsmanship that goes into a wheelgun that no plastic fantastic could ever come near. Then there's the collectability of these fine old guns. Many die hard revolver fans just don't care for the changes made in the newer guns. MIM parts, two piece barrels and of course that damned lock. Older revolvers can often bring more money than the brand new ones of the same make and model. I collect Smith & Wesson revolvers and have a bunch of 'em. However, the 2nd newest revolver I own was made in 1996. It was one of the very last to still have the firing pin on the hammer nose. Very little S&W has made since then interests me at all. I do have one exception. My 2017 S&W 642. I wanted a lightweight J-frame .38 for carry. I found this at a really good price and its one of the few more current S&Ws without the damned lock. I also love the old Colts and have several of those. While the new Colts may be good guns. They've always been a bit too proud of that name when it comes to pricing. Bottom line: Why are revolvers so expensive? Because they're worth it.

That pistol looking thing with a stock is a gas grenade gun. That long thing just to its left appear to be a cartridge for it. The hand grenades appear to be either gas or smoke. I see the shotgun and the Thompson, but I can't quite make out the rifle in the middle. Can anybody identify that? You might also note the armor on the radiator.

I'm in Bartlett which is right next door to Memphis. It was in the 40s yesterday and got up to 50s today. Currently a light rain. Side streets still have some ice here and there, but most of the main streets are clear. Aside from piles made by clearing snow, Most of it is gone. The Memphis airport has been shut down for a couple of days due to water problems. A bunch of water mains froze and busted. This has led to low water pressure and possible contamination. Memphians are under a boil water order until further notice. No idea how long this will last. A couple more days at least. I'm good as Bartlett has their own water system. -
These days I'll bet even this company is sold out.
-
The bottom line is that one of Biden's goals is to end on-line ammo sales. Simply put, he wants to put Fenix out of business. Its not just a statement. Its about self preservation. The owner says this on the web site.

Greg: I like the way you think. I'll just say "Ditto!"

I found the ad. Click Here Definately foreign made. Can't really see the headstamp very well, but I think its DAG. which would be Dynamit Nobel Germany. Definitely has the three point crimp. Oddly enough, it appears to be a hybrid case with a steel head and a polymer body. He's only asking $100, but I still wouldn't buy this stuff.

About the only .308 blanks I've ever seen were military. You can bet they'll be crimped. Also a good chance that they are foreign made and berdan primed. Does the seller have pictures or mention the headstamp? Like others here, I have removed primers before and reused them. As long as you're careful it can be done. But you need to examine them carefully. If the anvil is damaged, its junk. Just out of curiosity, how much is he asking? Can you post a link to the ad? Regardless, I sure wouldn't waste money on them.
