  1. The people listing items for sale are paying for that privilege. Armslist is making money off of them. I have no problem with that at all. Some sellers have found that putting in a phone number greatly increases their chance for a sale. I see nothing wrong with that either. What I and many others are pissed about is that Armslist wants us to pay to buy from their ads. As Old Iron pointed out, would you pay to walk into a store to spend your money? Many times I've been curious about an item and just wanted to ask the seller a question or two. But Armslist wants me to pay just to do that? Nope, not me! So yeah, if I can buy something I want off Armslist without having to give in to their blackmail, I'll do it in a heartbeat. No problem at all.
  2. I'm about as old school as you can get and have always considered a sling a must have on most any kind of rifle. I prefer the simple 2 point sling. I'd guess that probably 95% of my rifles have a sling. Regardless of action type or purpose. Most of mine are set up for simple over the shoulder carry and adjusted for the simple old arm wrap shooting position. I own one AR and its set up for a 2 point front carry. Just like in the video. However, I never really considered the quick adjustment thing this guy shows. I think I'll work on that. I do own a 9mm AR pistol style PDW. Its the only thing I've ever found to work with a single point set up. Its small size does work better with this. But It also has QD swivels just in case.
  3. Some of the Armslist sellers are figuring out that all you have to do is add a phone number to your ad to sell your stuff. I have bought a gun that way since the pay wall was put up. However, I have remarked as how the Memphis page was once 15-20 pages of guns for sale almost every day. I just checked, today its down to 5 pages and many of those ads have been there for months. Its slowly dying. Maybe the owners will finally figure it out.
  4. Those of you who are familiar with my posts know I sorta have a thing for "mouse guns". I own quite a few of them and have posted about them in the past. I've also always preferred the .25 acp over the .22 LR for the mentioned reliability issues of centerfire over rimfire. However, regardless of which caliber, mouse guns do and always will have a place. I'm glad to see Federal recognizing that some people do indeed depend on the lowly .22LR for self defense and addressing the issue. If you watched .22 Plinkster's video, the new nickle plated 29gr flat point bullet not only gave good penetration, but actually did open up a small bit of a temporary wound cavity where other .22s don't. That in itself is a notable improvement. As mentioned before, the .22 ain't much, but when you send a flurry of 'em in the BG's direction in a matter of seconds, they will re-evaluate their choices. I only own one .22LR mouse gun. A Walther TPH. If possible I will try some of this new Punch ammo in it. On a mouse gun day will I carry it instead of my favorite .25acp? Probably not. But I like having a new option.
  5. You might try some of the lighter 200 gr LSWC target loads. However, you may need to change to a lighter recoil spring for reliable functioning.
  6. The debate over .22 for self defense? has gone on just about as long as every other caliber war and with similar results. Now Federal has taken it seriously with a new line of Punch Self Defense .22LR ammo. It features a 29 gr, nickle plated FN bullet that comes out of a 2" barrel at around 1070 fps. Out of rifle length barrels is said to reach 1600+ fps. The idea being penetration over expansion. I got this article from Guns America Digest in my e-mail today. Federal Punch .22 ammo I also found this informative video from 22 Plinkster: Federal Punch: 22 Plinkster While the debate may never be truly settled, I like the idea of an ammo company taking the .22LR for self defense seriously and developing ammo for this purpose. For some people its the only viable choice. And yes, I'm well aware that all ammo is hard to get these days. But Federal is offering some of this new ammo for sale in their website. It's just sold out at the moment.
  7. Make no mistake, law enforcement is under attack all over this country just for doing their job. The black community views the police as the enemy. Black leaders do everything they can to promote that view. You end up with bad cops because good men just don't want the BS or a target on their backs just for trying to do their job. This is why so many major cities are seriously short of police officers. Its also why the new officers they do get aren't exactly the best or brightest. Arm yourself and watch your six. Because before long, there won't be anybody to come to your rescue.
  8. I like McDonald's breakfast. They make a pretty good biscuit with an assortment of fillings. I'm fond of the bacon, egg and cheese biscuit myself. The breakfast platters with eggs, pancakes and such ain't too bad. Its a quick and easy meal for a decent price. But then I don't eat breakfast there very often. I don't eat their burgers at all. For one thing you gotta take it the way they make it or not at all. I just don't like the crap they put on a burger. On the very rare occasion that I have no choice other than McDonald's, I just get chicken nuggets. Actually, I'm very limited in my choices for burgers. Most places use sesame seed buns and I can't have those. (Diverticulitis}. For the most part, I'm pretty much limited to Wendy's, Sonic and Krystals. But that's Ok because I like those places pretty well. My biggest reason for not eating at some fast food places is that the previously mentioned don't-give-a-crap kids can't get an order right. There's a Wendy's less than a mile from my house, but I rarely go there because they ALWAYS screw up the order. Every damned time!
  9. Ok, I guess I understand it. But I still don't think its right.
  10. Ok this ain't about the trial, Floyd, or anything political at all. So just don't go there. My question is just how can a person be tried for the death of one person and end up convicted on THREE separate death related charges? Second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. I would think the jury could pick one based on the evidence. But how can a person be guilty of three different kinds of murder when only one person died? Somebody explain this to me?
  11. MSM is playing up every multiple shooting they can find. On the top of my news feed this morning there was a story of 5 people shot in a Shreveport drive by last night. And yesterday it was several people shot somewhere else. Over the last week or so it seems like every shooting anywhere in the country that involves more than two victims is making the national news. Also noteworthy is at the end of every one of these stories, they make a point to mention a previous shooting and the recent rash of shootings with the Fed Ex and Texas things being real popular. What MSM isn't saying is that this level of violence is perfectly normal in many of these places. Crime and violence in this nation is out of control. Multiple people are shot and killed every single day. Normally, any of these stories would have made the local news headlines, a follow up story for a couple of days and then faded from the news cycle and forgotten until new facts come to light or an arrest is made. But because Joe is pushing his gun control agenda, these stories are making the national news headlines and tied together to further scare the sheep who want to take our guns. The sad fact is that to the Antis its a national tragedy that deserves major headlines. In Shreveport, it was just another weekend.
  12. I've noticed this recently also. I've not only seen people in mask mandated stores without them, but they're ignoring social distancing rules as well. People are piling up in the checkout lines right behind each other just like the old days. I guess its due to the vaccinations. People are mistakenly thinking they're safe now.
  13. Just saw on the internet news page that everybody's favorite Cockwomble, Dr Fauci, has just lent his expertise to another issue saying that gun violence is a serious national health issue and citing recent "Mass Shootings" as a serious problem. Somehow, I never did expect him to be on our side.
  14. The antis seem to be forgetting one of the primary reasons for using separate, detachable box magazines is how quick and easy they are to change out. Limiting to 10 rounds might slow down the potential mass murderer by what? All of 2 seconds?
  15. One of the miraculous things about the internet is that no matter what your opinion or point of view is that somewhere out there is an "expert" who will support your own previously drawn conclusions. It doesn't matter if you follow main stream thinking or if your opinions are somewhere out on the edge of the galaxy. Its simple enough to find "data" from "accredited sources" to prove your own opinions. After all, its on the internet, so it must be true.
  16. I have always strongly cautioned my sons and friends who know of my collection to NEVER mention it to other people. Y'all know how the rumor mill works. You tell someone, they tell someone, who tells someone else, etc and so on. Each time the story changes a little bit. By the time it gets around enough, all of a sudden I'm a 90 year old man in poor health who has a gun collection worth a million dollars. Some BG hears it and decides you would be and easy target. I don't need that in my life. While I may show off some of my stuff here and on other gun boards, I will never reveal the full nature of my collection. Hell, we all do it to some degree. We wanna show off our latest acquisition or an old classic. Its part of what our internet community is all about. However, I have actually seen people on forums post a complete list of everything they own. Some of them quite large. That won't be me.
  17. I've never really been very fond of IWB. But I do use it on occasion. But regardless of how I carry, I always position the gun just behind the hip bone at about 3:30/ 4:00. This is what works best for me. YMMV.
  18. I really don't shop at my local Academy store much. But when I do go there, I've never had any problems. Have you checked with the Academy home office to see if this is, in fact, Corporate policy? You'd be surprised at some of the rules store managers make up for their personal little kingdom. If the manager is anti-gun, they can make all kinds of restrictions completely on their own. Or it could just be a manager who misinterprets corp policy. I remember a few years ago a couple of Wal-Mart stores caught a bunch of flack for posting "No Guns" signs. Turns out that it was all the manager's idea and when corporate found out about it, they made them take the signs down.
  19. Ah, so that's it! I saw the movie many years ago when my sons were little. Just didn't remember that part. Mystery solved!
  20. Bigger holes are better.
  21. Trying to get the shots in Shelby County at the beginning was a total mess. But since the State stepped in about 6-8 weeks ago, its been a breeze. Quick, easy on-line sign up. Plenty of Vaccine, plenty of appointments and less than an hour to actually get the shots. I had no trouble at all getting both of my shots. It seems the problem here now is that although the system is running incredibly smoothly, people just aren't signing up. Only a small percentage of those eligible are actually taking the vaccine. County leaders are strongly encouraging people to get the vaccine. Also in Shelby County, the number of active cases is slowly creeping back up. But there hasn't been a major surge as some places have had recently. We were down to about 1,000 active cases a few weeks ago, but now up to 1451 as of today.
  22. It was a shooting at a school. The details don't really matter. Its the location that makes the news. Although still new, even the CBS Evening news did a small mention of it, but had no details. My guess its its just an argument type thing between two individuals. I'll also guess the wounded Officer just happened to be there when it happened. The same type of thing that happens everyday in cities all over the country.
