  1. A bit of background...my brother lived in Florida for many many years, so we haven't been very close. Many many years ago, he had his arm around another one of my relatives who was playing my my fathers service revolver and blew his own head off...while my brother was right next to him. With that background, you can almost understand his complete fear of guns. That's why him calling me a few weeks back wanting to go shooting was a complete shock. He backed out that time, claiming a backache (which he suffers from terribly) so I thought he changed his mind. I told him off handedly that we'd go in a couple of weeks. Well...I just got back from Guns and Leather with him:) We ran through a ton of 9mm and .38...he also ran a 10 round mag through my Warrior. He liked the trigger pull...but not the recoil. He is a complete and utter noob when guns. I had to keep reminding myself to help him. I'm used to shooting with people like Len (sorry I forgot to call you today bud) To top it all off...I had put my Nighthawk 10/8 on consignment to help finance the wifes new car fund and it sold this week. I was so happy (and so many people have been friggin killed in the past few weeks) I picked up a G26 to keep in the console of the truck, and to carry with the 1911 isn't the right tool for that day. He actually did very well for never shooting a pistol before. Liked the G19 well enough to look at a few of 'em upstairs. I don't think...no..I know he isn't ready to OWN a pistol yet. The controls are foreign to him, trigger safety isn't natural yet, loading the mags was a problem When the time comes, I'll more than likely steer him towards a wheelgun...or let him load my mags for me a few dozen times until he gets the knack of it It just brings me pure joy to: 1. Be able to spend more of the day with my brother without their being health problems bringing us together. 2. See him work through his fear of guns enough to actually handle one.
  2. Thats the government for ya
  3. they had some freebies last time I was there. Can't remember the design ,but they're just photocopied 8.5X11 sheets
  4. I had a visual of Frank holding a HCP class...with his Hi Point
  5. one of the latest FN .40Cals I can't remember the brand, but it was a M2...shoot it might have been a FN as well
  6. any man who beats a woman isn't a man...wife or not. Proper gentlemen do not hit females, end of story.
  7. you've got time to finish her up now :-)
  8. HEY..I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK JOE Ya mean like a LH black leather holster for 1.25 inch belt to fit a HK USP Compact?
  9. "I worked at Gun Mart at one time" The one on Charlotte Pike? If so I thought you looked familiar That was my favorite place to buy leather. I was almost always able to walk in and find LH stuff without fail.
  10. Rabbi..I can't even begin to imagine the trouble you'd have trying to stock all the various holsters on the market today.
  11. I'll have my PS90 along for the ride...that's the only "different" weapon I own unless you count the carbon 15 pistol
  12. I've been made by a business associate who now uses it as a running joke in meetings with a select few people. I don't use my permit as ID unless I have some need for two forms of picture ID...I've only got two. My family knows. I had one of the wifes cousins on a rant abut carrying a gun (she wants one) but was thinking that anyone and everyone would be able to tell. I asked her if she noticed my gun. She said no with this odd look on her face. Then I pulled back my cover shirt to show her where the 1911 was...and she was floored.
  13. Greenes carries what I listed above. I don't think anyone carries MTACs, Bladetech (that I've seen) or any of the more custom stuff. Greenes DID have a left handed HK USP Compact Blackhawk rig on the rack when I went hunting
  14. Most of what you'll find in local shops will be: Fobus Blackhawk Galco (franklin Gun Shop stoks quite a bit RH models) Safariland Some Don Hume
  15. dang...someone call Uncle Sam and get this man some downtime.
  16. That's not what I heard Reef :-) but I want to burn some money down the barrel of a MP5 myself
  17. I don't think they're website has been updated in a LONG time. From talking to John last night it's all database driven, and the DB admin is now on active duty. The last change was made in (I think) 2004.
  18. John spent most of the meeting talking about the current carry laws. Some of the changes that need to be made, problems with the current castle doctrine law. They were also told after the East Nashville meeting the Rabbi posted about that local LEOs are basically telling Serpas to lay off the anti gun stuff, that they don't have a problem with citizens being armed. (Seeing as he had my AOW paperwok back to me in a day...I'm thinking he's listening to someone) Also...as an interesting sidenote to the above, a lot of the Metro buildings that used to be posted are no longer. According to John, there seems to be a change in thinking. Currently the only places prohibited by statute are court rooms, everything else must be posted. The example he used was the building where the E Nashville meeting was held. The attendees would have been within their rights (and the law) if they carried because it wasn't posted. We also talked about a TFA Class Three meet on private property. One of the ideas were to have a Class 3 owner bring his toys in and have a Q&A session about C3 regs and whatnot. Then, around springtime have a Class 3 shoot along with a seminar having John do a in depth Q&A session with non TFA members if we can draw in enough interest. Mars...if you want to look at the constitution and the bylaws for whatever reason, you can come to a meeting without joining the TFA. If you like what you see...then consider joining. Tungsten..you were missed...I was given credit for the work you did on the email thing :-) The odd part of the meeting was...Perry sat in the very back row. Kind of odd for a president.
  19. From talking to him after the match...I think he's hooked as well.
  20. That was a TON of fun. I did better than I thought. Everyone who's into shooting should try IDPA at least once. Thanks to ZZRguy, Robert and everyone else who made the new guys feel welcome, gave us tips and reminded us that is was more about fun.
  21. wasn't there a gun club using that range at one time?
  22. I'm planning on attending...if my shoulder heals :-) I hadn't shot 12 gauge from the shoulder in quite a while. First two rounds were shot "loose" from the shoulder...now... O U C H...my damn shoulder is SORE, bruised...ugh. I guess I could go Rambo style and use the pistol grip:-)
  23. I would agree...but if I can meet those requirements, then I'm issued a modified carry permit, more of a certification where I can carry anywhere without restrictions.
  24. What time does it start? Whats the best way to get to the range from Nashville
  25. 1. What does it cost 2. Are there any prerequisites that have to be met? 3. What type shotgun would you suggest for someone to start with? (I've got a mossy 590 top folder..not the most comfortable for extended shooting)
