  4. Good old Wayne "Lopeared" and his advertising buddies should have been run out and tarred and feathered a long time ago. I am a Benefactor member but will never give another penny until old Wayne and his cronies are gone.
  5. Stepped into a covey of quail while out coon hunting at night many years ago. Didn't have to clean out my britches but took a few minutes to get back my senses.
  6. I put a lot of Western Auto and Sears .22short, .22long and .22longrifle through my Model 61.
  7. Watched the Livestream from our church (Rechoboth Baptist Church) and ended the service with communion. Picked up the communion cup with wafer at the church in a drive-by earlier in the week. Also watched Charles Stanley. Heard some great messages. God is Good all the time, all the time God is Good. Quote Edit
  8. Favorite Rifle: Marlin 39A. My first .22LR I bought. Sentimental Rifle: Octagonal barrel Winchester Model 61 with a four digit serial number. It was the only firearm my father owned. He had a Lion Oil service station over in the Green Hills area in the 1930's. He ran tabs on gas, oil, etc. for many people. A man owed him $15. The man left the Model 61 with him until he could pay the bill. The man never came back. I learned to shoot with this rifle. Favorite Revolver: Colt Diamondback .22LR Favorite Semi-Auto: Ruger Mark II Bull Barrel that Hamilton Bowen put a custom trigger on that breaks like butter.
  9. I would like to go duck hunting at Reelfoot Lake. Does anyone have any recommendations on a guide? Any help is appreciated.
  10. Love hurts: Attached bald eagles fall from sky in Red Bank March 23rd, 2020 | by Emily Crisman, compiler (Chattanooga Times Free Press) Facebook photo by TWRA / Two bald eagles remain attached after falling from the sky in Red Bank, Tenn., March 22, 2020. While doing their part to grow the population of their protected species, two bald eagles fell from the sky while still locked together in Red Bank on Sunday. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers and a representative of a local wildlife rehabilitation agency placed towels over the lovebirds' heads to keep them calm, at which point they separated from each other, according to a TWRA Facebook post. Sometimes love hurts, but the post said the birds are OK. Biggest excitement in Red Bank in years.
  11. Whether it passes or not I will keep my permit so I can carry in reciprocating states when I travel. I hope they are not going to get rid of the permits.
  12. Just bought one with the green stock. These carbines have great reviews.
  13. Just got back from Pigeon Forge this weekend. The Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grill (across the street from the Old Mill restaurant) is a great place to eat. Also noticed the restaurant "Local Goat" had a full parking lot every time we drove by it.
  14. The Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center will have its grand opening tomorrow (Saturday) at 10:00 AM in Chattanooga. Thirteen Medal of Honor recipients will be present along with two four-star generals, the governor, etc. A great way to spend a Saturday and for children to learn about the sacrifices veterans make for our country. Tickets are required.

    In church

The meat on the Krystal hamburger is so thin that its like it was put on the bun with a paint brush.
  16. I didn't watch any of it (game or commercials). Don't feel I missed a thing.
  17. I go out to southern Oklahoma each year to hunt doves for three to four weeks. The guy that puts on the dove hunts also guides for Sandhills. He uses stuffers and has great success. He has hunting rights on 50-75 properties. He recently had a crane hunt filmed for the Jimmy Houston Outdoors TV show.
  18. Go over on Shotgun World, look under gunsmithing and look for the Mike Orlen. He is highly recommended for choke work and has a quick turnaround time. For choke work you need someone with a lot of experience doing it.
  19. We have a small groundhog that runs across the backyard a lot. Lately he has moved to the front yard and is eating some broad leaf weeds that grow in the cracks around raised flower bed stonework. He is getting rid of the weeds better than a string trimmer.
  20. I just got back from 20 days of dove hunting in Oklahoma. Full moon and extremely high temperatures ruined morning hunting. Most doves fed during the night and were coming off the fields right at daylight. Afternoon hunting wasn't too bad but hit or miss. Just got an e-mail from the guy I hunt with that the recent rains and cold front that passed through Oklahoma have brought in loads of new doves and fields are loading up. Missed the big migration as usual.
  21. Has VFL changed from "Vol For Life" to "Vol Fans Leaving"?
  22. On an over and under you need to clean off the grease on the hinge pins and other metal to metal contact points after each use and re-apply. Otherwise, you can get galling and have trouble down the road. Also, need to clean the action and other internals when hunting in very dusty conditions (such as Oklahoma dove hunting). Also clean more after a firearm gets wet/used in the rain. And obviously you don't waterfowl hunt.
  23. With the recent frequency of bad storms we are getting a backup generator installed. I am tired of all of the outages.
  24. My wife and I went to the Williamsburg area a few years ago. We went out riding around, crossed the long bridge with the underwater section and somehow ended up on one of the D.C. outer perimeter loops at rush hour. The drivers were nuts. We had noticed the shrubs along the road looked terrible. Then we found out why. If a driver wanted to get down to a side road and the terrain would allow it, they would just cut off the road, drive over what was left of the small shrubs and drop down to the lower road. I haven't seen this in Nashville, Memphis, Atlanta or anywhere else.
