I been keeping my factory ammo in the factory box and/or transfer it to a reloader plastic box. Then I place the ammo in a ammo can and/or just on the shelf in the reloading room. When it come to my reloads I just dump them loose in coffee cans,,, metal cans untill the plastic can came out. But lately I have gotten a large amount of factory ammo and looking for ways to save storage space. I know some like to store loose in ammo can and some like to box it in the can. So what is the best way for long term storage of ammo in a ammo can?

it looks like a gun i got at the rod and gun club in germany back in 1979. i paid $50.00 for it and it came with a second 22 mag wheel. it is called "texas star" and was made in germany. it one good shooting gun. never has given me any problems. it is not a "saturday night" special.

Shooting at Denver theater during new Batman movie.

this is bad and it is going to fuel the gun control nuts. -
it has got the the point that i buy 95% of my guns, ammo, reloading stuff from the net. i was a big supporter of my local gun shops,,,,,, but when they started charging "way to high" for things i stopped. even with the haz mat fee and shipping i still come in lower than my gun shops. i also like to find good used deals on the forums. i know they got to make money,,,but it works both ways.

44 Mag. What's your favorite powder/ load
frankmako replied to Ray Z's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
2400 and/or h110 is what i used for many mango seasons. -
with todays small pocket pistols there is no reason not to have one in your pocket when you walk out the front door. kel tec, ruger, kar, etc... makes small 380 that you can drop in your back pocket and no one will know.

back in 1980 i got my ffl. at that time i used it to buy reloading items, you got the reloading items cheaper with one. me and the wife shot in many pistol and rifle matches and i was reloading everday. i setup a business and ran it out of my home. did not have to do much in those days, cheap and easy. sold some guns, paid my taxes, did the atf paperwork, etc... life was good. then when clinton came around things changed. the rules got harder to follow, price of renew went up, home was not zone as a business zone for a gun store, taxes went up, etc.... so i turned the ffl in. to day if you don't have a store and a real business i feel it is not worth the problems. just easy to find some one to do a transfer for you and you can get good gun prices off the net.

back in 1973 i pickup a s&w model 19 from ace hardware. i have shot the snot out of it and it has not given me any problems. you can not go wrong with a s&w. the ruger are good too.

ruger 10/22 is one of the best going. unless if you can find a old remington 22 auto.

.223 V 5.56 why everything you know might be wrong.
frankmako replied to Chucktshoes's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
i shot 5.56 in a 223 chamber many times. nothing happen. -
back in 1981 i got a remington xp-100 and changed the barrel over to 30-223. as far as i can tell the 30-223 is the same as the 300 aac blackout. if i am wrong please show me the different. rcbs made dies for it along with other named brand companies. i would take military brass and run them through the sizing/forming die to make the 30-223 brass. i would lose about one in 20 to spliting the case. never had to annealed the cases and i am still using them today.

How ‘Wide Receiver’ and ‘Fast and Furious’ are different
frankmako replied to mcurrier's topic in General Chat
the problem is that you will never see this on the three,,,abc, cbs, nbc. and on the others lap dogs,,,cnn, msnbc, john steward, etc.... the people that hear rush, glenn beck, hannity, etc.... get it. the others in american that don't will never get it. -
sometimes over at the ar forums you can find good buys on mags.
-
back when it was hard to get primers i loaded up some 40 s&w with mag primers. i did not drop the powder charge, the only change was going to a mag primer. ran them across my chronograph and found that with the mag primers my loads were runing 50 fps more than the standard primers. i did get a better/cleaner burn of the powder with the mag primers. now i do not load my loads at the max, i like to have fun shooting, not hurting my hands. many mango seasons ago i used rifle primers and did not have any problems. so my answer is yes you can use them.

you can drive yourself nuts over something like the "oal" of any reload you make. the numbers you show are so small and will not give you any problems. set your "oal" and crank out ammo. started reloading in 1973 and i have found it is best to setup the press/dies, lock them down and crank out ammo. quick recheck of all setting every 100 round, that is if you have good named brand equipment.
-
i got the 40. not a bad gun, but the trigger is crap. did the trigger fix and it helped some.

it is a crap shoot when it comes to steel case ammo in the ar. some will shoot it all day, others will not. it is worth the trouble to find out if your ar will shoot it because of the low cost of the ammo.
