It works until it breaks. My S&W 642's hammer pivot pin broke off the frame after a couple of years, so yes even quality revolvers break.

Yep. I ran across a video, linked below, on that subject regarding the Python. It echoes what you said. While guns aren't obviously cars, there are some similarities to the improvements over time. Most of us are old enough to remember muscle cars of the 60's to early 70's and how fast they were and the good handling. Not sure any can hold a candle to what's available today. Yes, the higher price reflects that to some degree. Back to guns, semi-autos in the beginning weren't near as reliable and ergonomic, etc as they are today. We need to remember, while the good ole days can apply to many things, I think cars and guns are better today setting aside the nostalgic value of the older stuff IMO. https://youtu.be/I1bB8upFLdU

@Defender @DaveTN The case with the PLR-16 you mentioned violating 39-17-1302, I'm not familiar with why that violates the law. I'm assuming it's related to #4 on the list but don't understand why. (Didn't google to determine what #5 used to be.) The normal configuration pictures appear to be a pistol from my understanding unless his had a foregrip or the such, Any clarification would be appreciated. I'm guessing it has the same effect, but not sure since I'm thinking the wad likely doesn't seal against the barrel ID as tightly as a bullet does in a rifle barrel.

Given the location of a gas port on a semi-auto shotgun, does the length of the barrel beyond the port have any real influence on the gun's ability to cycle?

My guess is that is the one thing Colt made sure of. Now whether it's as good as the original, time will tell. If it's not, the Colt fanboys are going to be upset just like the Glock fanboys when they found out the BIG Glock announcement was a 22lr handgun...

Glad to see this. I hope they offer it in the polished blued version. I won't be buying one but it's good for the market IMO. I think it will have limited effect on the value of an "original" Python.

Agree. While I know it's a "shooting game", the few times I've shot IPDA matches it's showed me how much more time based and movement shooting I need to do. Every time I've done it, I come away more humble than when I arrive.

Similar situation with the SKS's and the dirt cheap price they were back in the 80's. Wish I would have picked up a Russian version at the time. Ended up finally buying a Yugo version about 12 years ago.

Hopefully it will treat you well. Are you able to do most of the anticipated maintenance items? Not that any dealership is cheap, European makes are typically the most expensive to repair so it pays to either do it yourself or find a good independent shop knowledgeable on the brand.

That's blasphemy talk in today's climate. My previous carry was a Shield in .40 (almost unheard of) but I recently converted to a Sig P365. The P365 offers 13 rounds in 9mm vs. 8 rounds of .40 in a slightly smaller package. But wait there's more, when you factor in the spare P365 mag which is 15 rounds. My spare Shield mag was a +1 so that gave me a total of 16 rounds of .40 with the Shield vs 28 rounds of 9mm with the P365. I couldn't pass that up.

Ha. While I would agree the .308 is one of the best "all around" rifle calibers, it doesn't fit the classification of a PC Carbine.

This would be just about all the manufacturers since it seems like there is no other pistol caliber now beside 9mm. All other ones are red headed stepchildren. I almost get embarrassed to say I recently bought one of the new Ruger Carbines in 40S&W...
