Good choice.. My dad taught me growing up, "you'll never be satisfied if you don't purchase the one you really want in the first place". Kinda like the "cry once" saying.

Not trying to sell you on the Shield, but if that was your only complaint, check out the post I made on the Samson Mfg solution to the elimination of the magazine spacer for the Shield. As an update to the post, I have now shot it with the magwell and really like it. For me though, if higher cost of the P365 over the Shield doesn't bother you, I'd get the P365 if it were me. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/109509-mp-shield-magwell-samson-mfg/

Strictly staying to your original list, I would go with the Shield. I've owned one for several years and it's become my main EDC. If I was looking at purchasing a new compact, I'd get the Sig P365. But since the Shield continues to work for me, I'm not looking to spend the money to get one right now just to get the additional round count.

I thought I would share a product that others might have an interest in. It's an extended magwell from Samson Mfg for the M&P Shield that replaces the plastic slide on filler that goes on the factory +1 mags. I always run the +1 mags so this was a something I wanted to try since I dislike the S&W plastic fillers since they tended to never stay in place on the spare mag I also carry. The magwell is not permenently attached so it can be removed if needed. It adds no extra length to the grip compared to the factory +1 setup. It's made of aluminum and appears to be good quality with no sharp edges. You'll notice the front of the magwell has a slight "hook" shape and I really like the way it feels in the hand. Additionally, now you can release the mag without having to release your finger off the grip like you had to with the factory setup. The normal price runs $49, but I got it on sale for $39 back in Nov. Overall, I'm pleased with the product at this point, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I don't expect that to change once I do. Link to the product below. https://www.samson-mfg.com/compact-magwell-natural.html

Unfortunately, I think we all know the answer to your question.

OC SOUTHWEST GATE AGENT MOCKS 5-YEAR-OLD GIRL'S NAME
Trekbike replied to Ronald_55's topic in General Chat
I gave up on trying to sound that one out. Can someone help me figure how you can remotely get Noel out of those letters? -
Well crap, I missed the offer by just over an hour. Ended at 12:00 central from what I can tell.

Kia has been knocking off styling features from Lexus for several years now, why not go ahead and use basically the same logo but rotate it a little. (I say that assuming that Lexus used the logo first, without doing an internet search as to which logo came first, but my money is on Lexus.)

203F, Spoken with the precision of a true engineer. At first I thought you meant to type 230F, but when you typed it twice, it made me think differently.

I don't shoot much lately, and haven't reloaded in quite a while. Thinking back on it, I believe the decline for me started back a several years ago when we got into the "ammo supply crisis". Ammo and reloading supplies being scarce, or non-existent (mainly .22LRs), I went into full conservation mode so that I didn't use up what I had on hand in case the supply didn't start flowing again . Once you get in the habit of not doing something, it's hard to get back into it.

I get what you're saying on hating governmental mandates. Take the new back up camera requirement on new cars as of May 2018, totally unnecessary requirement. With that said, I do think the seatbelt requirement was one of the few that makes sense in my mind.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast yet, but wanted to comment specifically on your comment. Being that TGO is an internet gun forum, unless someone specifically revels it in some form, no-one knows what race or gender someone is. We all start out on equal grounds and you are included or excluded by others in the forum by what you say in post comments. So to me, your inclusion into the group is for the most part, up to that individual. Yes, from time to time you meet other members at gun shops, face to face purchases, range meets, etc. but that is going to be very limited. This is kind of like a blind date over the internet, you get to know a little bit about the person first, then maybe at some point you learn what that person looks like. Yes, you can make assumptions and generalizations about someone's race (gun forum = white male), but to me race plays no part in welcoming someone to TGO, because I don't know their race.

Yep. Had an issue a couple of years ago with a seller that clearly backed out after full agreement of the sale terms. I discussed it with the Mods and the decision was to leave Negative feedback to the seller. If the person starts getting bad feedback, the problem will generally take care of itself by folks not willing to do business with them.

Kinda makes the tinfoil hat wearing folks go hmm...

Yeah, I bet they will regret that one big time if people boycott them enough. They're way overpriced anyway. I my experience RTIC performs just as well at a lower price. -
Yeah, kinda like the old saying, "not much good happens after midnight"...

I wish you the best in trying to abide by that statement, LOL. Unless you have tremendous will power, you'll be selling things to support your new found habit.

Shooters Nation Podcast - Episode 01 - LIVE NOW
Trekbike replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Listened to the prelude and first episode. Nicely done for sure. Really good sound quality. Good content and looking forward to listening more by subscribing. Sending you a PM later today with a topic I'd like to hear about that is related to the first episode. -
Not following your comment. You do realize that was a joke towards the anti-gun folks not willing to consider actual facts in the gun control discussion?
-
You guys stop bringing facts into the discuss, it doesn't fit the agenda...

There's not much I can add based on what others have said, except one piece of advice, if it's applicable. I say applicable because it wasn't mentioned in your post so I have no idea of the current situation. Hopefully your wife's mother is still alive and there is a good relationship in place. (If not, then the following obviously doesn't apply.) If there is, try extra hard to help foster an even stronger bond/relationship with your daughter and your wife's mother. You can't force a relationship to grow, you can only afford the opportunity for it to grow. Thankfully I've had the pleasure to witness how much of an influence for good that a grandmother can provide to her granddaughter, even long after the grandmother passes. While that advice doesn't change your situation, it might be helpful as you continue to build a better life for your family. Keep the faith and stay strong.

I think the determining factor might be the breed of the dog. Currently I have three, a Chihuahua, a Pug/Min Pin mix, and a Red Healer/Sheltie mix. All three were rescues and are basically inside dogs when they aren't outside in our fenced in yard, off and on, during the day. All three sleep inside at night. The first two dogs are most happy to be inside, especially the Chihuahua, since they aren't very tolerate of cold weather. They do like to lay in the sun on warm days. My "working dog breed" loves the cold weather since he has a double coat and many times doesn't want to come in at night. We don't leave him out at night since there have been a number of dogs stolen even from fenced in yards in the area where I live. (He is a beautiful dog and is a prime candidate for theft in our opinion. It's the low of the low that go around stealing dogs IMO.) When I let them out in the mornings, especially when there is frost on the ground, he will run out and roll back and forth on the frozen ground, happy as he could be. In summary, dogs as you pointed out, are pack animals and really want to be around us, whether it's inside or outside. If we are inside, they are at the back door begging to come in. If we are outside and they are inside for whatever reason, they are begging to get to us outside.

You mentioned an "electric blanket", but I'm thinking you meant a heated pad. We got a K&H Lectro Kennel brand from Petco I believe. You just leave it plugged in all the time. Not sure if it will fit your needs or not. We use ours indoors since we have a couple of smaller dogs that can't seem to keep warm enough. Automatic Temperature Control Pre-set internal thermostats automatically monitor the surface temperature to keep your dog warm and comfortable. K&H outdoor pads are designed to warm to your pet's normal body temperature of 102°F when he/she lies on the pad. When your pet is not on the pad, the heat will dissipate into the air and the surface temperature will vary according to the ambient air temperature. We designed the Lectro-Kennel with simplicity in mind. Plug it in and it will automatically warm on its own. There is no on/off switch to worry about and the pad will never exceed the natural body temperature of a dog or cat. Now that's easy!
