  1. I would go for the six shot 38 with +P as the ammo is easy to find. If you find .357 in a store it is most likely fmj. Am not talking about bear, neither are very good at that, though the .357 is obviously better.
  2. btw, it looks like it was a new cartridge, to me at least. edit: ok possibly the circles mean reloaded twice. That would explain the lack of crimp. Just seems like a rather busy headstamp to me.
  3. Yes, figured its NATO spec and possibly crimped, just not obvious. A bit better pic, don't own a macro lens. Just don't understand the numerous circles and dot. Have seen a couple on LC ammo before but not this many.
  4. Found a bunch of these on the 75 yard marker at local range...not supposed to shoot from there btw. LC is obviously Lake City, Nato round and 22 for this year. Question is, why so many circles and dot. I know they mean something, but don't know exactly what. Doesn't look crimped but could change my mind after de-priming them. Sorry for low quality cell phone pic.
  5. Hope you find one, its a great idea!
  6. I recently purchased a completed DelTon AR15 16" m4. It did have a problem with the front sight being a bit off center, not much. It was a rack display gun at very popular lgs so, who knows. DelTon promptly replaced the barrel and front sight. IT shoots absolutely great. Sight in group, after refit, is 3/8" by 9/16" at 25 yards....dead center. That is using factory iron sights off a rest. Fit and finish is good, but its not as slick operating as say a S&W or Ruger AR. Still, I have no complaints as a knock around gun.
  7. Target Sports just emailed me that they have CCI small rifle primers at 599.99 for 5000. Hey, that's only twice what they used to cost before the idiots got control of our supply chain. Anyway, said they are in stock....sooooooooo reload
  8. i am happy to run 223 through my 5.56 AR as manufacturer lists same velocity (Hornady) for bullet weight. Point is, if I have to label my ammo 223 instead of the vil 5.56 but get the same performance...fine! Joke is on them at that point.
  9. With respect to the OP, this topic has been resolved. There were REPORTEDLY some issues with early models, but that was years ago. Have had two P320'S with no holes in my foot or leg yet. Remember how some complained about AD's when Glock's were introduced a few decades ago to LEO's. AD's in the foot or leg are almost always due to poor trigger discipline while holstering the weapon. I have helped train cadets for corrections and safety officers. It makes me shudder that such ill trtained people are cleared to carry a weapon. The bar they set is pretty low, imo. Not trying to be high and mighty, but people make mistakes. When you job depends upon it, people make excuses. That's human nature. Ed
  10. Will they continue to sell .223? That would be humorous as most 223 vs 5.56 factory ammo has the same ballistics in the bullet weight (in general). Funny politicians
  11. Thanks. Yeah 22 is almost affordable again. Primers I suspect will remain costly if you can find them.
  12. So I was wrong, ammo prices did come down. Two local gun stores have 22/556 55 gr fmj for 9.95 and 8.95 per 20 rounds respectively. PMC Am wondering if I should empty my pockets now, or wait to see if it goes lower.
  13. Ginex works, but far from my favorite primer. One of those "any port in a storm" deals.
  14. I know at least half a dozen locals that have more than that in one corner of their closet. Come to think of it, I have know idea how many 50 cal steel boxes I have full of my reloads.
  15. I agree with something like the SIG Romeo 5 or similar from Holosun. My priorities would be: closed optic, no magnification dot style reticle, the circle dots are nice and worth considering, but ultimately "I" use just the dot so that my sigh picture is the same on all my weapons. shake awake (auto on when picking weapon up) and auto sleep push button adjustments for brightness...knobs are out of date easy to replace battery not absolutely necessary, but I prefer a qd pic mount and folding iron sights for back up solar powered has no real appeal to me, but if you can afford it...get it IMO, LPVO's are great for shooting steel at the range, but not as good for close quarters self defense...MY OPINION!!!
  16. Have seen a lot of 1911 people who favor shoulder holsters. For me, they are too difficult....but then I have problems with socks and a belt
  17. It's a good question. For me there are two kinds of range day...target practice and self defense practice. For the latter I practice with my carry gun(s). It doesn't make any sense to do otherwise. Yes, I have a couple of carry guns which show considerable wear from practice, but at least I know they work and are reliable. Will replace them when the wear gets excessive. Practicing with them I know where they hit and how to use them while moving. Target shooting is more stationary and can be fun with many different types of firearm (larger the better here). For defensive practice it would also be valid to use a 22 which is similar in design to my carry gun. That would be to save on ammo cost wile developing draw, presentation and trigger control. They can also work well for sight picture while moving. Problem is, there are no .22's which match the physical dimensions, weight and sights of my carry guns. For pure Fudge and giggles target shooting, I prefer a large revolver as they are accurate and fun. Also, don't have to chase the brass like on a semi-auto center-fire. One of my carry guns is a small revolver so I get da practice as well. Have fun and safely practice, practice, practice. Oh, and breathe.....
  18. Previously "issued" guns may not be so bad. Most police officers and various security types don't practice all that much. Now you will find scratches and physical outside wear. Rental guns are not something I would consider buying. The times I have rented guns they always seemed to have mechanical problems of some sort. And unlike Police weapons, they don't seem to be maintained at all. So have not bought a rental gun, and would not consider doing so. Ed

    30 Super Carry

Well I found something to LOVE about the 30 super carry. It's won't blow a lung out like those "evile" 9mm's will. Hence, it might be our go-to handgun round in the future. Sorry, if this seems like thread jacking or a political comment. Oh wait, it is the later
  20. Do agree that some weapons just adapt to red dots better, my 320 takes little effort to present properly. Hellcat, not so much. With that said, the Hellcat is a edc. The P320 is a steel/range gun. So my draw and presentation is a bit different as with the P320 as already know what I expect to see. With the Hellcat, it helps ME to draw with the weapon closer to my body and find the red dot as I extend my arms outward. At first I had to concentrate on keeping the muzzle down lower than it seemed I had to with iron sights. Now it is just natural. Actually it may be a better technique than I was trained on with regular old iron sights where one watched the front sight as the weapon came on target. The advantage of red dots is that you eye does not have to switch focus from the target to the sight, I can keep my eye on the threat all the time. Anyway, agree some guns are harder than others.
  21. If it is a carry weapon then yes. If it is for exclusive target or competition, then possibly. The modern trend seems to lean more towards barrel porting or a muzzle mounted compensator to reduce muzzle flip, rather than added weight. I will note, my 1911's and heavy S&W revolvers tend to be easier to shoot. Practice can allow me to shoot a lighter weapon as well though.
  22. Am interested in one of the lowers. Kinda far for me to drive as am in Sevierville. You ever get closer to here? Would be cash
  23. Burris makes the PEPR AR mount with a pic rail on top specifically designed for mounting red dot over a scope. Kinda tall for me, but it is an option.
