  1. So there is no confusion...my comments about ORSA are about the "action pistol" range. That range requires you to be a member of ORSA and to take a safety course to use it. At GSA you just need to be a member to use their action pistol range.
  2. Concerning only handgun in non-magnum calibers. Belonged to both ORSA and Gattlinburg Sportsman's Club. After four or five years, don't go to ORSA anymore as it is too far away (Sevierville). With that said, you have greater flexibility for setting up steel or USPCA/IDPA cardboard targets at ORSA. GSA setup is fairly static but still very nice. I have spent many a morning out there chronographing or just trying out different rounds plinking steel. Usually I am the only person there (weekday mornings). There is a little flexibility in target setup at GSA but your not going to move around like on a IDPA/USPCA course. You can that with ORSA, IF qualified. Feel free to contact if you have further questions. GSA does a very good introduction session upon request. https://www.gatlinburgsportsman.com/
  3. Right, point is when carried un-holstered in a pocket it is free to slosh around with the trigger unprotected from being accidentally pulled by the user or some other object. Ruger provides a basic soft sleeve which they recommend using. I recommend something sturdier. Edit: The op mentioned the LCP ii. That is not a DAO pistol. It has a trigger similar to a Glock. The original LCP had a heavy DAO trigger. If you feel safe with a Glock you should feel safe with the LCP ii trigger.
  4. If you have a decent holster, leather or kydex, which covers the trigger it is safe, imo. But note the "decent holster" bit. Throw it your pocket without a holster and all bets are off. But that would be true for pretty much any semi-auto I can think of. I have my LCP ii in a iwb kydex holster and years later am still free of errant holes in my legs or crotch area. It is my second choice carry next to a S&W snubbie 38 (custom leather owb holster or iwb kydex). Third is a Hellcat (DeSantis owb leather). These are all high quality holsters While I have used the soft sided "sticky" type holsters they are only passable but not as good as a kydex or stiff leather holster, imo. Again, if it is in a good holster, you should be gtg. For those who may be hearing impaired, "IF IT IS IN A GOOD HOLSTER..."

    P365X Red Dot

Another vote for the Holosun 407kx2/507kx2 red dots Personally, i like the 6 moa dot only...but your preferences may differ.
  6. Know its an old thread, but it just popped up again....soooo: Concealability, which has as much to do with the holster and the person carrying. Fast to draw and come on target Easy enough to operate that I can do so when surprised or after taking a punch Powerful enough to stop the threat Availability of ammo so I can stay in practice Number of attorney or cc insurance company taped on carry rig cell phone
  7. I briefly had one. it went back to Ruger. Worked fine upon return. Sorry if that is someone’s favorite Think there are better choices for myself Edit: lcp ii is one of my carry weapons and it is just fine
  8. Welcome aboard
  9. Have liked the look and feel of the Kimber K6s and K6s DASA. However, just never could convince myself to shell out for one Beautiful too look at and dry fire in the store. But there is just something sacrilegious about a revolver made by Kimber. disclaimer: am not a Kimber hater
  10. Not much to wear out as far as internal parts go Sure, on some models you can use hot loads so much that the cylinder loosens up. That is a go back to factory problem rather than a diy fix.
  11. Manufacturers should just cut frames to directly accept a Holosun k x2 and be done with it. (a bit of Holosun snobbery)
  12. Just an observation: People who get into long range competition shooting are usually willing re-barrel their guns as needed. If you are just hunting with one, would think burn out is not your most pressing issue.
  13. Nice gun. The P365 has turned into quite a success for Sig. Must ask though, is that the mfrs box? Seems small.
  14. "An individual is NOT allowed to build an 80% frame with the intent to sell it, but it's still legal to sell it, say if the original builder has had it for some length of time and no longer wants it" Your statement seems to answer the question. However, If such a firearm were used in a defensive shooting, it would seem to make any a civil lawsuit more complicated to defend in a jury trial. Could just be my perspective.

  18. Welcome! TN is a nice place to be Just gassed up my ride for $2.69 a gallon. Can't imagine how much Cali is. Personally, I like the scenery and weather here too. And yes, the great TN people.
  19. Welcome to TGO. Were almost neighbors, Sevierville
  20. Welcome and enjoy the board.
  21. Would not consider washed primers to be what I develop a load with, Have washed more than a few loaded rounds (38 spl). That's because I sometimes miss the speed strip in my trousers. They all fired, but those were sealed loaded rounds. Just take the loss...seriously!
  22. Pm sent
  23. My edc outfit recently changed to include with the firearm, light and iPhone: 1-Pepper or Bear Spray (depending on destination) 2-Slim folding pocket knife with 4 1/2" blade....think razor sharp -Reason for adding spray is a recent bear encounter while walking in my neighborhood -Reason for adding razor sharp knife is that that I often forget to shaving in the morning due to being retired
  24. Good luck on your exploration Have a lot of respect for the design and history of that rifle. Don't have the means to afford one for fun.
  25. A somewhat belated welcome. Only ever sold one Sig....which I hadn't.
