On top of an adapter plate it makes for a rather high sight over bore axis. It seems like a rather simplistic approach jmo

Thanks, I was wondering if it is a friction based system (no moving mechanical lock).* Apparently not so. However, it would be nice to see a drawing of how this system functions, Thanks for link is was helpful. *The mechanical delayed blowback principle on which it (Thompson Sub Machinegun) operated was made possible by the Blish Block system wsit: Blish not block. Siri hates me

Of the couple vids I saw, neither explained the mechanics of barrel lock up. Curious

Have had a few guns which were sold because my needs changed. Target handguns change as I progress in a particular discipline and a different gun would do me better. Defensive handguns also change because newer high cap yet smaller options become available (or sights options change) I have sold guns which just didn't fit me right or shoot well for me (seemed good in store but not when shooting).

Indeed it is. Still much more expensive than 9mm, which in my old mind, makes no sense, It is a worthwhile gun/caliber though, Have lots of fun!

Would prefer the advantages of a high capacity nine. However—the Max 9 did not meet my expectations.

Am so jealous. Love those grips

I love my LCP ii. Have a iwb kydex holster and a couple of Sticky holsters for it. You did a great job on that leather pocket holster You are very talented with crafting leather You hit it. I too am a sucker for reviewers enthusiasm for new guns (variations). Have had a few disappointments by blindly trusting what the reviews said Am of the belief now that if a carry system works for me to stay with it. Thus I save enough money to practice more. No small thing with the price of 380 ammo.

Wilson Combat shok-buffs for 1911 and Beretta 92
JustEd replied to tercel89's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
For competition most load their own ammo. Hence it is usually not as hot as a factory round. So I’m that case the buffer is less useful There is both reduced recoil and pressure with “target” loads Have never liked buggers when used on 1911’s Guns I had needed a bit of tweaking to work reliably with the installed buffer -
ANyone use Hard-cast lead ammo for .38 and semi-autos?
JustEd replied to crc4's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Should try them out then. The factory ones I have used actually had a very slight inward taper towards the base. While it made seating the bullet in case easy, it also necessitated using a tighter crimp than usual. just fyi. Have fun with it -

Same fun here, well one of them. Appreciate you wanting the best load. Have you ever made hardcast hbwc? I did cast bullets years ago, but the hollow base seemed to difficult. The factory hbwc were all fairly soft lead. That made sense as the idea is for the hollow base to expand and seal against the rifling during firing. At least for the normal loading. -

Actually there are some 38+p loads in jpg which test out quite well. It is an old but check out Lucky Gunner ammo tests Two problems with hard cast are excessive penetration and availability in factory loading There are a couple made for defense. However usually when you see a factory lead 38 it is a mild load for general use or dedicated target shooting I must also say that while having loaded many semi-was cutter bullets, they were never done with the intention of self defense. For me a 38+p jhp or go directly to 347 jhp btw, did you ever try shooting a reversed hollow base wadcutter into gel. Try it sometime. Wimpy penetration. -
Fantastic Howz the gun working for you?

Hoping "Bubba" takes a real liking to him!

Damn, this is horrible. Right before Christmas a family loses a loved one to a criminal. My prayers to the family!

Chattanooga Gunsmith Relocated from Commiefornia
JustEd replied to DocHawk's topic in New Member Introductions
Welcome and Merry Christmas. Grew up in Cali and moved away from it twice. This time to TN and I LOVE IT. Been here about four and a half years. First two things to learn are: a) Don't honk at the person in front of you the second the light turns green b) Breathe, you are free now! -
Oh with suppressor height sights I find the sight axis to be unnaturally high. Told you I had more opinions
-
One of the reasons I don’t carry the Vortex on a edc is the size of the rear plate. Have to install suppressor height sights. The American Glow Haven looks nice but suffers from the same form factor The Holosun kx2 sights are much shorter in height jmo. I have a lot of opinions. Feel free to ask

Hi’ya neighbor. Am just 20 mins up the road from you. No experience with Canik but a fair amount with red dots If you are new to handguns, just get one with the option to mount a red dot later (slide cut). Problem I have with most red dots that come on pistols is that they are cheap ones. Holosun is my fave for carry. Either 507kx2 or 407kx2. Have had both, still have the 407 (6 moa dot works best for me) My Sig p320 came with their Romeo 1 pro which is good. It took three to get one that works 100% though. Vortex Venom is nice but too big and dumb for a carry gun. Dumb as does not have auto on/off. Love the clear window and dot though Great at the range Have tried Crimson Trace and AmeriGlow. Both too cheap to consider for carry...IMO! Have looked at and shot a few others, happiest with Sig Romeo 1 and Holosun. Vortex needs badly to be updated with more features.

CAP or Child Access Protection makes it a crime to allow a child to get ahold of your firearm. Those laws exist is most states because some parent did not do their job. The type of firearm you own is inconsequential. ^as always, jmo

What Most People Who Carry Fail to Realize
JustEd replied to crc4's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Two suggestions: 1- Take a actual in person hands on armed defense course in the State of Tennessee 2- Get carry insurance (hope that doesn't get me banned). Yes, it can cost you 15-20 bucks a month. What do attorneys charge an hour? I have used both "Second Call" and "USCCA", both are good. USCCA costs a lot more, ime, There are others out there, but those are the two I have used. USCCA has a regular magazine they send you which includes articles on what to do before, during and after an armed encounter. Both "Second Call" and "USCCA" gave me a card to carry imprinted with what to say to police after an incident Just in case I forget under stress. just fyi, I understand 99% of the people who read this will take neither suggestion. But at least the info is out there. -
Adding to what was said already, try different ammo and springs. Not a fan of comps for any kind of carry. They can be great for competition or as a range plinker Ate you using as edc or for range? What brand and bullet weight of ammo are you using?
-
Red dots are the rage for sure. Personally love them for range use or competition. Warming up to Holosun on my Hellcat. Not 100% sold on their use for edc though. Sometimes I feel like taking it off and sticking with the Hellcat irons which are easy to see and use. Suspect they would be faster in a close encounter. Just sayin' might want to get better irons just to cover both bases. jmo

I would peruse YouTube for hands on reviews. I have not shot one, so have no opinion.

Oh never mind!
