  1.   What? Seriously ll Duce?   I don't think you have to be a resident in order to try and help put things right.       I for one appreciate the work Knife Rights is putting into this.
  2. I would say get both a progressive and a single stage.   I have a Dillon 550 I purchased in the late 1980's and it has served me extremely well. But I picked up what amounts to the Lee Anniversary Kit a couple of years before the Dillon and learned the mechanics on it.   I still use the single stage all the flipping time. That old Lee just won't wear out. I've been sizing cast bullets with it recently, but use it for load development all the time...then set the Dillon up for volume.   I would love to have an RCBS...I'm still waiting on that Lee to wear out so I can justify the purchase to myself.     http://www.midwayusa.com/product/423081/lee-challenger-breech-lock-single-stage-press-anniversary-kit     I don't have any experience with the Hornady but it sure has a great rep.
  3. I mailed off my renewal on 2/6/14 and received my Temp Permit today (2/15/14). Not bad.   Let's see how long the actual permit takes...I still have several weeks before expiration.   I'm pleased with the process thus far though.
  4. btw...this is the mold we are using:   http://leeprecision.com/6-cavity-356-125-2r.html     We are kicking around using this mold for .38's for our 9mm casting...any thoughts?   http://leeprecision.com/6-cav-358-125-rf.html
  5. I'm bumping this back up as a couple of friends and I have just started casting and powder coating 9mm boolits. Our 6 cavity Lee mold is dumping boolits at .356". Even with powder coating they are coming out at .356"-.357" before sizing. I initially use a .356" sizing die and found...obviously in hindsight...that the boolits are too small vs bore diameter to stabilize, and some will keyhole. I now have a .357 sizing die and will try that out. Thanks to Dolomite for putting up with my many questions. Caster...or anyone...Is there a fix as Caster mentioned above? I would have thought the powder coating would have given us a .358 or so diameter and therefore a more stable boolit. Any help or ideas are appreciated.
  6. DCritter;   Thanks for your hard work, and thanks for the link setup. That made it incredibly easy to send out the e-mails...   There's no excuse not to send a few e-mails out folks.     I don't know where this will go either, but I'm hopeful...keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
  7. ^^^^^   This, even I can keep up with !  LOL.
  8. I have a complete lower needing a 300 blackout upper. I'm moving in that direction God Willin'. :pleased:   Like BN, I look forward to casting and rollin' my on.   I'm looking forward to further news and experiences with the blackout.
  9. Ismalls;   I think your timing is great actually.   More and more women are exercising their constitutionally protected rights than ever before.    While there are many "universals" concerning the carrying of firearms, there are many things gender specific...   I wish you the best, and hope you'll let us know when you're open for business.       FWIW there are some great husband and wife teams out there "spreading the word". :pleased:     Jerry and Kay Miculek   http://miculek.com/about-us/     John and Vicki Farnam   http://defense-training.com/dti/about/
  10. E-mails sent.   Thanks to all for keeping us updated.
  11. I've had a copy for a long time.   Hugh Coffee brings a lot of real world experience working in 3rd world countries to the table.   Some aspects of the material may be a bit dated, but the majority of the information is very useful, and especially applicable to SHTF situations.   You may be able to search out and download the PDF online, but imho it's worth the price to purchase it.
  12. Thanks for the head's up.
  13.     Don't be a hater.
  14. I know you asked about a local place, but I haven't had any luck with such around Knoxville.   A bud and I split an order from the link below last year...   I've since been enlightened by Brasil.     http://www.alcotarget.com/cardboard-target.html
  15. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot there yet, but Spiffy, Brasil and a few other guys do. So perhaps they'll chime in.   Here's a couple of links that might help.   From what I hear they put on some good matches. :pleased:     http://clevelandtnidpa.me.pn/index.html   https://www.facebook.com/ClevelandTnIdpa     Glad you liked the ORSA match. We've got a USPSA match coming up on the 15th....come give it a try...you'll like it.
  16.     Spoken like a true Range Lawyer...and I have his card to prove it!
  17. "Hell I was There" and "Sixguns"  are must reads for the serious gun aficionado.   Elmer Keith was a Bad ass...no doubt.
  18. That's good news 2Alpha.   I wish you the best with it. Please keep us posted.   The stages look great btw.
  19. Thank you Luke.   This is all very helpful.   I hope you can solve your mystery quickly and easily.   I've loaded a number of varying charged rounds to chrono and test for accuracy. Again, this is a first endeavor for us.   I did resize upon recommendation, or perhaps my mis-interpretation of the recommendation, but I'll load some not resized to check as well.   It'll be next week before I can try them out because of work, unfortunately.     For some reason, probably some setting on my computer, I can no longer view the photos and the links don't download for me. But as I recall, the photos were of very good quality.     I appreciate what you're saying regards the dies.   Thanks for your assist and the info.   Good Luck to you guys.
  20.   I wish you could as well good sir.   Enjoy you day though.   I have new and untold penalties to look forward to and learn about. I'm sure Spiffy will lend a hand...after the fact... LOL. :pleased:
  21. Thanks for the head's up.   Flowers and chocolate first...then shooting. Got it.     Since I can't locate it, I make the bold assumption there isn't a "pre-registration sign-up" link anywhere is there?
  22. Great stuff and great find.   If you got a deal, which you indicated you did, Congrats! :pleased:
  23.     Luke;   My buds and I are just starting both casting and powder coating.   So I'm gonna ask some dumb questions for both Luke and Tim...   Luke mentioned: "Another problem is when seating the bullet the case is actually swaging the base of the bullet to and even smaller diameter".   Was this even when belling the case mouth more than you normally would, or was this traceable to your die set?   If the die set, which make of dies?   Did you guys cast your own?   When resizing the bullets (I assume you do)...did you use a .356 resizing die?   What bullet weight of 9mm?       And last but not least...Where did the photos go? :ugh:     Thanks in advance and Thanks for starting this thread guys.
  24. Thanks for the warning Greg. Whew, that was close. I'll have to keep a close eye on my Lee. It's only been in use since around 1986. :pleased: The Dillon is much newer...1989... Both are affordable quality imho. Dillon and Lee Excuse the mess...they are in constant use.
  25. 10-Ring;   I completely agree that pocket carry is less than optimal. My J-frame is a second gun...and only rarely is used as primary for deep concealment in a non-permissive environment.   But having a second gun in a pocket does have it's advantages.     Threeeighty;   Love those grips brother!
