  1. My son became interested in shooting clays. So as a starter shotgun, I got him a CZ 1012. Swings excellent and runs like a sewing machine.
  2. About a week. I do use this when it gets warmer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DH1935S/
  3. Using a moat helps a lot. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PSGJG3J/ Or you can make your own:
  4. It's probably too far away, but the local MilSurp store has them: https://www.sgttroys.com/30mm-m592-ammo-can-large-military-metal-can-made-in-usa/
  5. This smart gun is for a specific use case. It's not intended to be a primary weapon. It's to keep a firearm readily available (like on your nightstand) when you are concerned someone else may have access to it... such as kids. Ian McCollum of Forgotten Weapon did a good video of it:
  6. 'Plus addresses' not only works with Google, it's a standard for email systems. Most email servers support it. I stopped using it as some spammers started stripping the 'plus addresses' out of the emails. I now use forwarders for most email communications. Each vendor/website gets it own unique email and randomly generated password stored in an encrypted database. It's a lot more work, but I average a single spam every 6 months. And if a spammer does get hold of my email, I can stop them by changing the forwarder and only have to update 1 website with the new email address. Furthermore, if there is a data breach at a vendor, they don't get my login for any other site.
  7. Lithium batteries are considered HAZMAT and have extra requirements to ship.
  8. A staggering number of US households can't cover a $400 emergency expense. I've seen polls that go from 30% to 67% can't. It's always good to keep some cash on-hand for emergencies. One piece of advise is to have smaller bills ($20's and smaller) available in your emergency funds. There are a lot of places now that won't take a $50 or a $100. if possible, I'd advise keeping enough cash to cover at least 3 months of your minimal living expenses.
  9. If Vince is hooked on a custom build, maybe you aught to just gift him a receiver and let him build a complete gun from there. I had just about as much fun deciding on the parts and building the 10/22s as I do shooting them. I have one that I should call "my significant other" considering the damage it did to my bank account. But the 10/22 I treasure the most is a very light rifle build. I think I "only" have about a grand in this one:
  10. Most people that have 10/22s tend to keep them. This is the least expensive 10/22 I could find: https://lockedloaded.com/product/ruger-1103-1022-carbine-semi-automatic-22-long-rifle-lr-18.5-101-hardwood-stk-black
  11. Just guessing... "Two is One and One is None" (always have a backup).
  12. If a school hires private security they need the same immunity to prosecution as the police are given or else the government should provide the security. I don't want the private security concerned about liability when there is an incident on premises.
  13. Might I suggest that you specifically look for the Pug in 22 mag then. It's the shortest of the NAAs (1 inch barrel) that still has the better cylinder pin design (like the mini-master or black widow).
  14. I'm not suggesting anyone drain their bank accounts, but I would (if financially feasible) keep some additional cash on hand just in case a run happens to your bank.
  15. Deerslayer, You may have seen this movie before... But it's a new cast and are any of the Hollywood remakes worth a crap these days?
  16. Predator generators are also used by big construction firms and a lot of full-time RVers. The only reason I haven't bought one yet is I want a dual-fuel.
  17. Basically, yeah. I'm the (entire) IT department for 19 small businesses. Mostly local, but one is in east TN and another is in upstate NY. Having a customer call and saying, "My internet (or PC) is down right now, I'll fix your problem later." is not an option. I keep redundancy in almost all gear. For example, I have a battery backup (12V 400AH) for my UPSes, and that is backed up by a propane powered generator. What's this mythical "day off"? My son gave me guff as I was in intensive care hours after major heart surgery taking a service call.
  18. The main reason I went with the DM pro is better throughput with a gigabit fiber connection with a lot of the security features turned on AND for the fail-over WAN (Internet). The fiber is my main connection but I also have a cable modem as a backup. As reliable as my fiber has been lately, I want to get one of the UniFi LTE and cancel the cable.
  19. If you didn't need QOS/guest network, I'd suggest you just get a Starlink Mesh Node to extend your network reach. Question: do you have your Starlink router setup in bridge mode (bypass mode)? While double NAT won't hurt you in most instances, you may run into issues especially if you need to remotely access devices on your network. The other thing is you might currently have the 2 wireless networks on the same channels causing interference.
  20. I do IT support for a living. For home or small business, I don't use anything other than Ubiquiti. One customer was "burning up" a router/wifi combo every 6 months. He's in a metal building. It didn't matter what brand or quality of a home class router he bought. Several years ago I replaced it with an Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X and an Ubiquiti access point. Other than the 1 time his dog chewed up the cable running to the AP, he's not had a single problem since. His EdgeRouter may be old and no longer sold, but it chugs along fine. All of my network gear here is Ubiquiti. I have a Dream Machine Pro, 48-port POE switch, a couple of different access points and 2 of the mesh APs (that are hard wired rather than mesh). Yeah, it's probably way overkill. Buy my network is my work's life-blood as I primarily do remote support. One thing you might find interesting is my slightly older HD access point beat a new Asus gaming router (with wifi 6) my friend purchased when transferring large files over wifi. His will initially burst faster, but the stability of my network beats it out on large downloads. For me, consistency and reliability trumps speed. I do a lot of wifi calling using my iPhones as it's more reliable than the cellular connection. The handover between access points is seamless with Ubiquiti APs as long as they are setup as the same network (the default configuration). If you decide to buy something other than Ubiquiti and seamless roaming is important to you, be sure to check reviews. Just a FYI, I've not used the Ubiquiti Amplifi gear. Everything I'm supporting is Unifi line. Several customers are using the Dream Machine (not the Pro). Unless they are in a larger building, most don't even have to use an additional AP. To date, I've not had a single piece of Ubiquiti hardware fail. I have had some other issues (i.e. a rare reset required) on a couple of units and have updated some old gear to newer/faster hardware to take advantage of faster Internet speeds now available. In my opinion, the Ubiquiti hardware is worth the extra expense.
  21. Sorry, no. I just found it with a quick Google search. I'd probably go with the Kydex to provide some protection for the optic. If you aren't concerned about that, another unconventional option would be this: https://garrisongrip.com/ruger-max9/ I bought a couple (always good to have a spare) for my Kel-Tec P32 that I use for my "robe gun" around the house. I tested it outside and cannot pull the trigger with it in place. It takes a little bit to get used to as you push the trigger stop out of the way and then have to move your finger from behind the trigger to in front of the trigger.
  22. https://www.vedderholsters.com/ruger-max-9-w-thumb-safety-pocket-locker-holster/
  23. Have you seen these? https://www.amazon.com/Orpaz-IWI-Masada-Holster-Modular/dp/B08RGHJ4X4?th=1 They seem to have pretty good reviews overall at a reasonable price point.
  24. I have both the full size and the 9s (slim). The slim has a better trigger in my opinion. Soon as there is a blue gun of the slim and I can get the holster I want made, it'll likely end up being my daily carry.
  25. You do know the Sub 2000 is on sale with many vendors and has a $100 rebate from Kel-Tec on top of that? Example: https://www.familyfirearms.com/product/kel-tec-sub-2000-9mm-luger-16.25-171-black-adjustable-stock#product_detail https://www.keltecweapons.com/sub2000-rebate/
