  1. There is a common line of thinking today that the economy is like a pie. If someone is wealthy, it's because they took part of someone else's slice of that pie. I believe thee is more pie being made every day, and how much pie you have has no bearing on my pie. If I could make some wealthy person suddenly destitute, it would not change my lot in life whatsoever. If many people who spend their life despising successful people, and making excuses for their own failure would put some of that energy and drive into a productive pursuit, they'd soon become successful themselves, but it's easier to hate and make excuses than to jump in there and take a chance or two for one's self.
  2. I've gone about it from a totally different direction from MacGyver. I took the path of least resistance. A slow , but more sure path to financial independence if you will. Although I am not averse to risk, my wife is. We've both worked hard and advanced in our jobs to the point where we make a very comfortable living, and are on track to retire at a very early age. Perhaps then, I can talk her into taking a more adventurous path. As always, MacGyver has many good points to ponder in his post. A stable family, and I'll add, a family that promotes a good work ethic and the importance of education, gives a young person a huge leg up on the competition. About the only thing I disagree with him on is the white privilege part. There's no reason, real or perceived, that a minority cannot achieve success with hard work and ambition. In many ways, current government regulations stack the odds in their favor. I will say that far too many minorities aren't raised in the a fore mentioned stable, two parent household. I've tried, and hope and pray, that we've done a decent job raising our children with the necessary tools to become successful.
  3. That'll serve your needs much better than a dual sport bike. It's good riding weather now. I still can't get my wife on board for a bike.
  4. Yep. That's 6 bucks a year. A six pack of beer, or a happy meal! Dang it! I sound like an old fart!!!!
  5. I usually just toss them out the window as the officer is about to drive away. For some reason this seems to make him angry.
  6. I suppose I'll just sign up for the bank draft and move on to more important things. I do not like change. I guess it's part of getting old.
  7. Two things: 1) plastics are also made from oil 2) a plastic road would be one slick mutha when wet!
  8. I pay with a debit card. You'd think that and a bank transfer would be the same difference. At least it is on my end. I need to investigate that a bit. Thanks.
  9. Several years ago, I was overcharged because my meter was misread. I paid the bill, thinking it would work itself out. It did, but since I didn't owe anything the next month, I was charged a minimum charge anyway. When I went to dispute this charge, I was basically told to go somewhere else and buy electricity if I didn't like it. Whatever. Today while paying my bill online, I noticed a $5 "convenience fee" that's never been here before. Is there any accountability for these folks if one doesn't agree with their business practices? Were it something like a cell phone company issue, I'd just go to a different company. This doesn't seem to be an option with electricity.
  10. Good looking piece of leatherwork there! Thanks for sharing. I'd bet it was tough going getting those stitch holes in the elephant hide.
  11. I've now mowed with this new Bad Boy, and it's everything I hoped it would be. It's like mowing with a really fast, good riding bulldozer! It cut my mowing time from 3.5 to 2 hours. As long as it remains reliable, I'll be very happy with it. I wish I'd have bought one a long time ago. It also stays on a hill well, unlike the smaller ztr I have.
  12. It's been a while for me, except for shooting carpenter bees in the barn with the kids a couple of weeks back. Busy at work, and both boys playing baseball somewhere nearly every night and weekend cuts into play time.
  13. It'll be fed non ethanol gas, except I did put ethanol in it on the way home yesterday. As soon as it quits raining, that'll be ran out in short order.
  14. If only Hillary were in office, some of you ladies might be happy....but I doubt it.
  15. Is there anything you won't bitch about, Chuck?
  16. I finally did it. I went this morning to buy a Kubota, but when I really looked at them, I couldn't figure out how to get to anything like belts if you needed to change them. Then I looked at a Bad Boy, and everything seemed to be where you could reach it. After driving it around the lot, I decided to give it a try. It's a 61" Outlaw with the Kawasaki engine. It also had a suspension of sorts that made the ride better than the Kubota, and had what appeared to be better tires. Now, if it'll dry up enough to give it a try, I'll know whether I really like it or not. Thanks again for all the advice.
  17. Can you have it fenced and put cows on it?
  18. Neat stuff and a great investment!
  19. 295 miles between Chicago and Louisville. All on I-65. I'd rather drive that than fly.
  20. Oh my! That's worth a lot just for the cool factor! I'm guessing $1500 would be a fair price to both buyer and seller?
  21. Very nice gesture. TGO members are the best!
  22. I've shot some in 7.62x39. Couldn't tell it from Wolf.
  23. Tell him to send cash with the ffl and let us know what his response is.
  24. My LCP carried in a pocket holster looks like a smartphone. If anyone's ever noticed, I haven't been able to tell. I certainly haven't noticed any concerned looks or actions by law enforcement officers. I don't think people are very observant in general.
