  1. LOL! That's pretty much my decision as well. I have to say I'm really not a Beretta 92/96 fan. Just too big and heavy for me to be comfortable with, but like others, I kept thinking I'd like one of the Gallatin, Tn, marked pistols. This fit the bill, and with all the added features...just too good to pass up. In comparing notes and inferences here from other buyers, I believe I paid about the high intro price on mine. I was pretty dejected until I started looking and saw that I got the Vol/Tn Edition for about what a standard 92 was going for retail. Sure I could look and see prices all over the spectrum, but in the end...I realized I bought a safe queen. I've accepted that. And my wife says it's ok.
  2. Amen, brother. In spite of myself, and all my stupid decisions, my wife has stayed with me; acting as a rudder and holding me on some semblance of a true course in life.
  3. I was thinking the same thing, Runco. My wife just came in to ask what I was doing and I told her I was looking at the latest Sears Toy Catalog. She just shook her head and left. Frowning a bit, I must tell you. As far as this Sig catalog...it is very much mind boggling to me. Way too much info for an old man to absorb this early on a dreary Saturday morning. lol I did find the grip modules for the 320 pistols, and the laser modules especially caught my eye. A 320 compact with an integral laser is very, very interesting. A lot of information, pretty awesome presentation package too.
  4. That's a maybe for me. I'd like to go to one again, but that's a long drive for me to pay 10 bucks to be disgusted again.
  5. Stick to CZs and PPQs. lol
  6. Don't exactly remember when I bought my first XD. I do know it was my first "plastic" gun. I bought it even before my first G19. I still have the XD, with a CT pistol grip laser wrap that I bought at the same time. It's sort of chunky with the laser grip, but shoots very well. Wish I still had that first Glock.
  7. That was evident from kickoff. Bama and Saban expected to win on reputation and name intimidation. Didn't work out that way.
  8. True...but since when do actual real world events matter in the world of politics. In that world, 2 things matter. Do something...anything...to appear being on top of the situation, and to retain power. Both usually at the expense of the general public.
  9. If the pricing from some of the sellers like Primary arms and PSA are any indication, these low prices may not be around for long. I've seen prices going up on Shields, parts kits, and rifles increasing this week. As gregintenn mentioned in another post, if you want these current and recent pricing...you better go for it now. And after Mad Cow Pelosie and Chuckie yesterday, things just might get a bit tighter on us.
  10. I hadn't seen those. But remember polls are subject to really one-sided and targeted responses, as well as can be weighted by the population group taking them. Not that I'm questioning you as person, I just tend to be very leery of polling stats.
  11. Actually, I tried, but she refused it. Besides, I had Dad's, and my, favorite 22; a High Standard Olympic in 22Short. First one of his guns I ever shot. She's in about 80% condition, but still shoots like a champion. Love taking it out and watching guys try to figure out what it is. Many have tried, but no one is getting this one.
  12. I've bought a few pistols and had that reaction. lol Dad shot everything he bought. The only exception was a Smith Model 41 he bought just before his death. Put away for over 25 years. Mom gave it to me and told me to sell it. I hesitated for a bit, but since the receipt said 126 was the total on it, and Mom asked that I do it...I did. Took it to a M'boro show and walked around with it. Priced at then current market and I had dealers and individuals offering 500/600 for it. lol I'm an idiot at times, but not that much of one. One guy kept harassing me over it and I told him the price was firm. Followed me for an hour trying to talk me out of it. He did get it. At my price.
  13. I missed hearing this. So very sorry to see the loss of another of my musical favorites. I saw Dennis and Ray in concert several times and rank them as one of the greatest in live performances. My condolences for Ray's family.
  14. Absolutely. In a fit of stupidity some years back, I sold one of my Dad's shotguns, a Remington 1100. Yes, I needed some cash, but I immediately regretted the decision. It will not happen again.
  15. OH MY!! A trip to a PSA store? That would be heaven! Sorry about your boat. That must have really hurt.
  16. Can't tell you...a secret just for me. lol Primary Arms and Classic Firearms have been tempting me the last few weeks. GrabaGun also is in the running for my cash. Have dealt with all 3 in the past and had good products and service.
  17. Wish I could afford to take more advantage of those emails. There have been some really good deals lately. I've been sorely tempted by a lot of them. The complete rifle and pistol build kits only missing the stripped lower has been the hardest for me to resist. There have also been some really good pistol, and a few rifle, buys from distributors. That's where my funds went.
  18. Firstly, having met you David, and reading your posts, I have no doubt of your beliefs and your abilities in raising your children. And it seems that your head is on straight here. Secondly, Media is a large, a very large part of the lack of knowledge by most people today. We've grown to/been conditioned to want instant news and analysis of events around us. I believe that started with my generation(born in the 50's grew up in the 60's). We had television as a babysitter many times as both parents began to work. Not blaming that on today's situation, but it was a symptom; a beginning of believing in tv and all it could do. "Social Media" is a major component of today's issues. Near instantaneous new/information from all over the world. Sure, it let's you know what's happening where, and to whom. But it also gives it too quickly for most folks to digest, to think and see some truth to the many facets sometimes put to us. And as you said, today's media doesn't always "report" but more make the story as they see fit. Thirdly, my take on the truly "social" media is that it's the worst thing to happen to this nation since Hillary and Bill. Facebook, twitter, and all those other ways to not communicate on a face to face basic human level have robbed the young, and some old folks of their senses. Talking face to face give you so much more than that little picture. Even though a picture is worth a thousand words, you have to know how to interpret that picture. How to put it into perspective with all around you. Not just "I saw it on twit or snap chump...it's God's truth." Fourthly, when I saw you had posted immediately after my first post in this thread, the pessimistic and fatalistic one...I thought ok, I'm going to get called out by the Boss on borderline remarks and inciting commentary. Finally, I wish to apologize for 2 things. One the long post, and two, the almost coherent remarks. I tend to get wound up and not express what I want to say in a meaningful and understandable fashion.
  19. I'm not in disagreement with your commentary. I'm not calling for, nor do I see a "race war." What I fear will happen is something on a city wide scale that will let both sides, and all people, the folly of all this "white guy/black guy" did the crime sort of mentality. The kind where citizenry storm the streets chanting for "justice" when all they want is revenge for whatever indignity or crime has been commited. Yes, I tend to be a bit pessimistic, but have you seen the people and the world today?
  20. No opinion on this topic. But I do have 3 9s and a recently added 45 Shield. lol
  21. Less than 10 years ago, I would have argued that point with you. lol But times and minds change. It's now at least # 2 on my favorite to shoot list...maybe higher.
  22. Sadly, I agree with you on both counts. All we have to do is watch items from almost any shooting, or violence of any type; and someone will yell that a white man did it. Whether true or not, it seems to me that we are so on the verge of a major incident. One that will ignite a ferocious, but short black/white conflict. I say short because so many of both color seem to be just itching for an excuse to start shooting, and will find that the massive bloodshed could well be very one sided. I DO NOT wish nor in any way condone any thing like this, but entirely too many supremacist and BLM groups have a lot of firepower and are wanting to use it on the other. Just an opinion.
  23. Interesting. I like my 22 mag guns. This might be a welcome addition.
  24. I just might be forced to put my Smith M&P 22 up for sale.
