  1. Ditto on the house guns. Few kids in the neighborhood, and since I'm the old grouchy conservative in a progressive area; not many do more than talk in the yard or on the street. The kids are never allowed inside. Parents' rules...not mine. Though I can't say it hurts my feelings. I've thought about keeping a lot of handguns loaded and ready to go in the safe, but just never felt safe/compelled to do so. I really can't give you a reason for it though; for either doing it or not. I think if I did more than one or two, which are my go-to weapons, I'd start thinking I should do every one that way. Actually, if I had more space, I think I might just have to give a lot more thought to having them all hot.
  2. I'll have to have a little time on this end Way too much outlay going on right now. But I would like to work with you on at least one of these. Can you give me a ballpark figure? I know it won't be exact, and I might have some changes in mind as well, so I guess a baseline figure?
  3. She looks Fantastic! I'm a little envious. Just a little.
  4. Yes, you do have a problem...not enough ammo! As I've mentioned before, I gutted an old StackOn safe that was in water in 2010. I found some scraps of 2x10 and 2x12 and made shelves with them. It works...so far.
  5. I do keep several loaded mags near specific weapons in my safe.
  6. I thought it was for the couple that likes to do EVERYTHING together. lol
  7. Thanks, Grayfox, I probably should have used the PM system for this. Sorry. Yes I think you got a great deal on it. Condition and availability on the Detective seems to be erattic. I've heard from a few sources of some very high prices on these. Like in the 500+ range, and seen some ads that were just outrageous. Brother-in-law, who is somewhat of a freak on Browning HPs, told me he had offers to buy one of 600+. Can't verify that, just word of mouth. I really haven't searched for anything on these for years, so my comments may be worth absolutely nothing. I haven't found my records, but if memory is right, I paid in the 250 range from an imported/distributor back then. I know I bought in the time just after chemo and radiation treatments, so that puts it in the 2011-2012 range. If I ever get organized, I vaguely remember some trade clippings on the history of the Argentine HPs. If I find it, I'll send you a copy, but it centered on how the pistols got to be produced there, and the different models and how they were intended to be used by the Argentine Police.
  8. Didn't know anything about such a meet, but you were the first person I thought of. Hope it wasn't wrong to include you.
  9. Interesting. lol Actually I like it. May have to get with you on a couple of projects. A Smith snubbie 19 and a Shield 45 with a laser. More likely the Shield would be my first choice. I know it's sometimes awkward, but I've been just running the holster thru the loops on my left side. Ever do anything for a Shield with a laser?
  10. Great movie. Albert Finnney was one of those so great actors that he was often overlooked. Just a natural in whatever role he did. My personal favorite was as the lawyer in Erin Brokovich.
  11. Yes, a great find. I found one about 5+/- years ago that was as close to new as I've seen in these pistols. I'd hate to say that on the basis of these pics, but that looks really good. Almost jealous. Mine shoots very nice and feels great to me. It's one of my "hope to never part with" pistols. Would you mind sharing what you gave for it? I'm told they have appreciated somewhat with more shooters and collectors going for them.
  12. Probably HP. That I think has been all I've owned. Don't really remember when I bought my first one, but IIRC, I'm on my 3rd pc now.
  13. I did try and disassemble my last desktop pc. It was a pain in the patootie! Hammers, sledge and otherwise, didn't do much. So I got a huge heavy pry bar and tried to spear it. Not much better. I finally just busted up what I could until I could pry out the hard drive. Then it got harder! Those things are darn near indestructible! I gave it to a guy I trusted to destroy it.
  14. Message steelharp. He might have some idea on it.

    Air Rifles

Pretty much what I've seen and read on them as well. Thinking it might be good for running off crows and the like, maybe a little backyard fun. And of course scare the neighbors with the AR look of it. lol Seriously though, with it's looks and style, I'd be tempted to add some color to it and hopefully avoid issues. I live in a very "progressive" neighborhood.

    Air Rifles

Anyone have any experience with, or comments about the Crosman DBSR Air Rifle. Modeled after the AR-15 and supposed to fire F/A from a 30 mag of BBs. Thinking about one.
  17. Yes, that is a beauty!
  18. So 9mm is the baseline?
  19. WTH was that all about? But he dances well. lol
  20. I haven't done anything with my Tok yet. I'll be very closely inspecting when I field strip to clean before shooting. Thanks for the comments.
  21. Dirty old man!! Cannot just appreciate the fine thing she did for gun owners. Wish she'd stand though. lol
  22. Someday...I might, but not too likely, tell the story of the moonlight make out session in Sparta.
  23. When I think back on this, I realize just how stupid we were. Both of us got some cuts and scrapes from that very hard dried mud, and not much else. I had an uncle, same side of the family btw, who almost lost and eye in an M80/Coke bottle deal. Guess there might have been, and maybe still are, some flaws in our gene pool to try some of the crap we did back then.
  24. Ski, what did you choose as a replacement? Yep, being nosey. I have had, and still have a few Taurii. I've been blessed by the Taurus Godlings I suppose, as I've had only one problem ever, and that was with a Tracker 22/22mag revolver. RC3, I might be able to help with that 809. I'll do some checking tomorrow.
